I'll be taking a harder look at the 12 pro also. I've never had a phone that big before and don't think I'll like the size, but maybe I'll give it a shot and return within the 2 weeks if I don't like it (by which time the mini will almost be here anyway).Ah so this is Apple’s plan to extract extra money from me this year. Release more models, and put the one I initially decided on a month past the more expensive one I was also considering. I then buy the 12 Pro and later this year try out a 12 Mini and make the switch.
I’m pretty torn between Pro and Mini, but this could shift me back towards the pro. I guess it depends on a few things - Mini having a U1 chip (I can’t see apple dropping this on the cheaper model given airtags coming out...but SE and iPad Pro 2020 don’t), storage upgrade pricing (I need 128GB and the mini will start at 64.) and whether Apple actually shows off something cool to use the LiDAR camera for. Telephoto I really don’t care about unless they greatly increase the aperture, the current 11 tele is rarely used unless it is a bright sunny day.
I didn’t suggest people wouldn’t buy.
Holiday/year end is huge for Apple. Unless there is unlimited supply, which we know there isn’t, they will lose sales before year end because there won’t be enough supply.
Trying to squeeze in 3 month of sales into 1 month isn’t a good model. Demand will clearly outweigh supply.

It's not a "disaster". They will sell millions from people who are 2-3 years out on their current phones and the "must haves" that buy every year on the upgrade plan.Every other maker had normal launches this year. Are they somehow immune from the pandemic? Apple screwed this phone up every way possible. From release dates to garbage incremental updates to no 120hz displays or smaller notches, Its a disaster all around.

And maybe add the release year to the model, car-style? (On second thought I guess that complicates things when someone is shopping for an iPad Mini in 2021 and the only one for sale is the “iPad Mini 2019”...)Apple should drop the numerical designation next year and simplify the lineup naming to:
iPhone 12 Pro > iPhone Pro
iPhone 12 Pro Max > iPhone Pro Max
iPhone 12 > iPhone Air
iPhone 12 Mini > iPhone Air Mini
iPhone SE > iPhone
iPad already follows this naming scheme and is much tidier:
iPad (entry level)
iPad Air (mid range)
iPad Pro (pro range)
Which part of “The iPhone is going to be late this year” didn’t you hear, when Apple announced that?
Im still running on my iPhone 6s and fail to see how the iPhone 12 mini is a mini phone...
if I wanted to view stuff on a larger screen, that’s what my iPad Air is for.
just frustrated because I just want a phone that doesn’t require cargo pants to carry.
The iPhone 12 mini is the same size as your 6s.
It's all screen now so you can't compare 5.4" and 4.7" directly...

Breathe?Life goes on. Many will wait. And Apple will still generate kick-ass revenue and profits, setting a new record.
Breathe...
Or Apple knows that people only really want the 5.4" and the 6.7", and are hooking the impatient ones to get what they really don't want.Oh no, this would be... horribly smart!
The "most common" size of 6.1" would be available first, both 12 and 12 Pro. The "special" sizes of 5.4" and 6.7" later.
This would give people some extra time to consider what matters and where to save (or not) – if you can call buying a new iPhone "saving".
I feel yah'. I guess the best Apple can do is the 5.4" with all the newer tech from the 5.I shouldn’t have to resort to “lower” or older tech if I want a size similar to the iPhone 4s.
my 6s when I bought it a long time ago was a compromise at the time. I just want 12 internals in a 5 or 4s body.
But this makes no sense. Wouldn't they want people to buy the most expensive Max, but they put it way later? They are all ready. This is a marketing scheme to get you to not want to wait and jump on the iPhone 12 (reg size) because it will be the worst seller.
The absolute horror. How will you be able to continue on with your life?Another month to get the 12pro max very disappointed Apple.
No, because people are fickle, and will buy the 6.1" device, and then end up selling it or trading it in for the 6.7" when it comes out after the 14 day return period window.... Or, they buy a new iphone in six months, or a year....But this makes no sense. Wouldn't they want people to buy the most expensive Max, but they put it way later?
True but does Apple charge restocking if it wasn't defective or an Apple error? If not then Apple takes a loss because they have to sell the returned ones as refurbsNo, because people are fickle, and will buy the 6.1" device, and then end up selling it or trading it in for the 6.7" when it comes out after the 14 day return period window.... It's Genius.
Never underestimate Apple's ability to entice people to spend more money than they really should/wanted to.
It will be a Black Friday deal for the Max.I'm just here waiting for black Friday deals 🤑
