1. Why did they use official promo pics on some and others are still photographs?
2. Why is the SE 2020 product red but grayscaled lmao

We cheated a little and lumped them together, which we acknowledged in the article.

But...

11 Pro Max
Height: 158.0 mm Width 77.8 mm

iPhone 7 Plus
Height: 158.2 mm Width 77.9 mm

the 0.2 x 0.1 mm difference we thought was negligible. And I'm not even sure what the translates into pixels in that image.

True but they are weirdly different. I've talked to a friend that was trying to upgrade a 6S Plus to either 12 Pro or 12 Pro Max. We discovered this weird size stuff.

Could you please add a 6S Plus phone to the drawings? I know it would be cluttered, but it would also be cool to see with the others.

Enclosure Height and Width of the 6S Plus is same as the 7 Plus and 8 Plus, which are all essentially same as the 11 Pro Max which is pictured 2nd from the right.

Coming from an X and thinking about purchasing a 12 Pro Max, yesterday I made a mockup of the Max out of wood, and carried it around for a few hours as if it were my phone.

Came to the conclusion it was much too unwieldy compared to my X. And instead will be ordering a 12 Pro (which is similar to my X) tomorrow.

Really don't know between pro and pro max. Do you think the camera is a big difference?

If you mainly shoot portraits then the Max will have an edge with the more portrait-like focal length.

Edit: I clearly missed that the PRO didn’t get the same sensor for the main camera. Low light photos from the main camera will def be better on Max.

I can't wait to ditch my XS for the Mini. My thoughts when I moved from 4S to the 6/7: "hm I don't like the way this feels in my pocket. Too wide and tall." Thoughts when I got the XS: "this feels like a brick. Too big, thick and heavy. Uncomfortable in one hand and in bed." Two years later, I still feel the same about the XS. I have big hands and CAN use it one-handed, but I want a phone that is a one-handed portable device and sits unobtrusively in my pocket. I use my iPad Pro for browsing, video, gaming, etc; I do NOT want a phablet. The fact that the 11 Pro was even bigger than the XS, and the 12 Pro is even bigger the the 11 Pro, is a huge turn off. Thank god for the Mini!

I have gone back and forth between the 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. I am using a 11 Pro Max now and have long said that my sweet spot is 6.1".

I felt that way until I saw the battery size of the 12 Pro... No way I can stomach that much decreased battery life.

I'll be ordering a ProMax - not because I want the extra camera features - more because I don't want to lose the battery life I'm accustomed to.

The guy in the photo literally has the same size hand as me (holding a friends iPhone). How on earth do people like such big phones now? They're heavier, harder to use with one hand and are just big for day-to-day normal usage

I could never ... especially since I still cannot reach the top left with my thumb so I might as well go big or nothing

i just tested the size of the Mini overlapping with my Max and it almost makes no difference. I still have to stretch my thumb and can’t reach the top left so I might as well get a bigger screen if I have to use the phone the same way (two hands)
This is one of the stupidities of the iOS launcher: it still insists on filling screens from the top, rather than letting you choose to leave space up there and fill from the bottom for better usability. But I guess these days you can put widgets up there, rather than just the apps which you never want to open.

I wonder how long before someone releases some transparent, inactive widgets so that you can create spaces on the screen (the first work-around for Apple's UI inflexibility that occurred to me).

What's the deal with the naming of these phones? There should just be a simple name that runs across the whole iphone product.
This does my nut. All that ribbing of Android phones being fragmented, now we have a gazillion different sized phones with barely a mil or so between some of them, and to top it off some ludicrous naming system. Why has ‘plus’ now become ‘max’, why was there ever an ‘XR’, now we have ‘Pro’, a new ‘SE’ etc etc. I can’t keep up!

Just did the mini comparison on my XR... wow! Perfect size. Got a few weeks to decide between the 12 Pro Max or the mini. What a tough choice. This is a great lineup.

So why would I want a 12 Pro when it's smaller than the 11 XR and has edges like the 5S which cut uncomfortably into my hand as I held it. Won't be touching it with a 10' barge pole.

Iphone 12 mini is the perfect size for me.

I still don't understand how people use the Max versions, it's TOO BIG. In a few years they will make it big as the iPad mini

not to mention, the weight of the max is just too heavy IMO. Especially when you add a case.

Mini all the way this time around. Hope next design they can actually make the camera flush and lose FaceID notch. Then we will have our SE! Anyways, nice comparison chart. :D

Upgrading from my trusty X to a 12 Pro.

I also have a XR for work, but find it just that little bit too big.

So I'm curious, the 12/12 Pro has the same sized 6.1" screen as the XR, but according to that image the actual phone dimensions are somewhere between the X and the XR? Is that right? Hopefully going back to the squared edges will also add that extra ergonomic sense.
