iPhone 12 Mini Missing From Top 5 Best Selling Smartphone List of January 2021

I don’t think the form factor is why the mini isn’t selling, it’s the price. Apple should have waited and made the mini the new $399 iPhone SE, they could have used an LCD and single camera to keep the cost low.
Agree. I wanted a smaller phone than the 6-8 size but wasn't willing to upgrade at the mini price. Luckily I took advantage of a iphone 8 trade in offer for the mini. Love the phone and hope the size stays around. I am not one that needs top features and would be OK scaling back in future years if a "cheaper" mini device rolled out.

Could be due to pricing really. It's not that much cheaper than the regular 12 so the "bigger is better" syndrome kicks in. I think if the regular ones was just a little bit more expensive and the mini a little bit cheaper, sales would be better.

Love my 12 mini, held out with the 2016 SE forever because I didn't like the larger phones, especially with the rounded edges.

Here's hoping that in a couple years, there will be another mini to upgrade to.

It got released in winter during a pandemic when most people in North America and Europe were stuck inside. Anytime I am out doing something active like sledding, biking or hiking I am so glad I’ve got this little phone with its very capable camera and specs.

Yep, Apple should not support diversity of opinion and only support to most popular top few models.

Only someone indoctrinated into the Apple walled and protected garden would have such an opinion. While we are at we only need 2 or 3 models of cars, everything else is just a waste. Right, and lets quit building custom homes and appartments, all you need is a bed, kitchen, and someplace to consume your high tech fix. Heck, lets pad the walls and let you chose your color. Choice is so wasteful and any certified nanny would be appalled.
You can keep your fallacy. All I stated was that demand for the mini isn't as big as the vocals made it seem. That's it.

Is the selling point the price or the size? I thought the main selling point was that people wanted a smaller phone. There's obviously a tradeoff there in battery. Would the mini have been a success if it was small and also discontented to further get the price down?
Power in a small form factor. Small but low-end would be very different.

This looks more like the iPhone 12 mini is in the top 5 of phones in markets Apple competes in. The fact there are 3 sub $250 phones ahead of it is irrelevant to Apple.

The battery is a function of form factor. You can't get a small car and expect it to have as much cargo room as a medium or large one of the exact same shape. The only thing you're left with then is to pay less for the screen being smaller if you have all of the other features.

I still have an iPhone 6s and was going to buy the mini last year but held back because of the compromised battery life and disproportionately high price. If they fix those shortcomings year then I'll buy it. I really don't live for my phone - I don't get that many calls and am not a heavy app user so I just want something that fits in my shirt pocket. If Apple won't make a mini I'll just get something from somebody else who does. I also wouldn't trust a device that folds into the smaller form factor.
Compared to your 6s, the battery life on the Mini is not close to being compromised.

Why is there 4 different bar graph sizes for 1%, 2 different sizes for 2% and the 6% bar is roughly 4 times the size of the smallest 1% bar? Talk about using a graph to manipulate interpretation!

It's so weird seeing people celebrate "low" sales of the mini as if it matters what other people like as long as your favorite option is still offered.

The mini has been my dream phone, I absolutely love it, sure I rather have a telephoto lens than ultra wide angle (but same issue with the 12 and 11), the battery life has been great compared to my old iPhone 8, the fact it was $100 cheaper than the 12 was just icing on the cake (there was a time when smaller cost a premium). The best part however is it's the perfect size for my hands, now if you have large hands or always use a phone 2 handed, more power to you to get the large phone, but for me this phone is infinitely more usable than other phones.

Hopefully this size lasts a long time as I will keep buying them until they stop making them.

I love the fact that the 12 mini is not selling well. Back in the iPhone X days there were so many goobers stating that an iPhone X design in an SE package was an automatic buy. Where are these goobers now?
Right here, responding on mine. Brother-in-law just got his last week. Wife will get hers in a couple of months. Sister wants to trade her 12 max for one.

I fully acknowledge my experience is anecdotal. The stats don’t lie. I’m just surprised.

What I really don’t understand is why so many are giddy that the sales are disappointing. What happened to “options and competition are good”?

I don't want a Mini; I like my big screen (11 Pro Max). But I'm still sad that the Mini isn't selling that well and hope that it doesn't get cancelled.

A phone is a very personal thing, and I feel everyone should be able to buy the phone that fits them best, whether it's a 12 Pro Max or a 12 Mini or even an Android phone. It's good to have choices.

I really hope Apple doesn’t stop making the mini. I’m planning to upgrade my 11 Pro this year to the 13 Mini or whatever they call it.
Also an 11 pro user who is attracted to the mini, but (and this might never come to fruition) I’d want it to adopt a three camera system first. Just too many situations where I’ve benefited from having those options for me to want to give that up.

I'm sure the iPad mini is not in the

It's funny how the one's who have no interest in the mini, think that their opinion matters more than those who have no interest in a phablet.
And, yes...it was implied.
iPad Mini users know they're in the minority and aren't living in some delusion that everyone wants a small iPad like the iPhone Mini fans are.

Wow. 7th place, only behind two phones that aren't available in the US it seems like (not listed on Xiomi's US website, and I can't remember if they have a ban here). Notice how the other flagships aren't even on there either like stuff from One+ or even Samsung (just their budget models)? Wow..... such a "failure" of a device, outselling competitor flagships last month. Shame on you Apple.
