if that case will fit both regular and the pro model....that means the pro models will not get slimmer bezels or any reduction
So every iphone 12 phones will have the todays Pro/Xs/X bezels...kind of sad...after no promotion, no smaller notch, no slimmer bezels..we get only the ironed edges and internals usual updates

How are you arriving at this conclusion? It’s already been confirmed that the 6.1” iPhone 12 will have a smaller footprint than the XR/11. The only to achieve a smaller body, while keeping the same display size, is by shrinking the bezels.

You can see in the picture below the new and old 6.1” phones side by side.

I really think Apple need to start removing the number and these silly names at the end of their iPhone line up... it would be so much better naming them...

I agree, and I thinking that will happen next year. I will surprised if they release a "13" iPhone, it's a bad luck number for many cultures.

The big news here is that both the 6.1 models share the same external design. Some earlier rumours had suggested the non-pro models might keep rounded sides like the current models and only the Pro ones would get the flat sides like the iPad Pro (and now Air).

iPhone 12 Pro Plus just sounds weird especially with Pro Plus being a caffeine stimulant tablet brand here in the UK...

iPhone 2020 (5.4 inch)
iPhone 2020 (6.1 inch)
iPhone Pro 2020 (6.1 inch)
iPhone Pro 2020 (6.7 inch)

I really can’t imagine in 10 years time we will have the iPhone 22 Pro Max or the iPhone 22 Mini 😂😂😂
Going to Roman numerals would be cool.

My question is: since the 12 pro will be increased in size to 6.1”, does that mean it’ll be bigger than the 11 pro? Or the footprint stays the same because of a reduction on bezel? Does anyone have any info on this?
The dummy unit videos (macrumors has one on YouTube) show that the 12 will be a few mm's taller and wider than the 11pro. (So maybe that's the 11 size) *wait no, see the photo a few posts above.

Even though I'll probably buy one, I still think the name iPhone 12 Pro Max sounds stupid.

iPhone 12 mini sounds much better.
Watch the word "mini" be in color just like you have it 😂

So this is really happening. I think I have become numb to the names following "Pro Max."

How about iPhone and iPhone Pro, with Pro. Keep it simple. This mini and max nonsense is too confusing.

I’m kind of excited for the 12 mini. I have an XS that I love but when I use a smaller phone like the SE, I like being able to reach things without having to stretch my thumbs.

I’ve been saying for years that they should remove the numbers & do what they did for iPods & do for Macs, just use the name & have a mini, normal & pro model. Clean it up

Not quite. Beside the bezels the frame itself has a smaller footprint.

Strange times we live in that a screen size that was once a plus is now a mini.
Hm - did you know that the 8 Plus has a slightly wider screen than even the 11 Pro max? It's not just about the diagonal, a standard ruler has an impressive diagonal but I guess that's not a good idea for smartphone dimensions. I don't get why other, especially Sony builds these ruler-sized smartphones. I hope when the notch is gone Apple will go back to just 16:9.

I did not know that. I never quite get how these things are measured.

Speaking of 8 Plus, my son still has an 8+ and I held it the other day (he wanted me to watch something) and, even with a case on, the difference in weight and thickness struck me. Felt SO light to me. I never notice it on my 11 Pro Max until I hold his phone.

Personally, I think Apple should stop trying to release a new set of iPhones every year and drop the numbering altogether. iPhone mini, iPhone, iPhone Pro, iPhone Pro Max. They could be referred to by year of release, just like Macs are.

Smart phones have reached a maturation point where the iPhone could easily release every 18 months and it would be totally suitable for the market. But Apple has investors to please, so that probably wouldn’t be the most likely scenario. With smart phones breaching over $1000 and in not the best of economic conditions right now, I don’t know that really makes sense to have an iPhone every 12 months.

I do think the numbering system though, will always be part of the iPhone. And the reason I think it will be, is the highest number iPhone shows the latest model, and it devalues the lower model, showing consumers the hierarchy chart. That said, I don’t suspect the numbering system will leave anytime soon.
