Just checked our Apple site in France. The phone comes with the EarPods, no charger though. I guess that French law got them.

As expected, the entire iPhone 12 lineup ships without EarPods or a power adapter in the box, with only a Lightning to USB-C charging cable included. Apple said this decision was part of its commitment to the environment.

With these accessories removed, iPhone 12 models ship in a thinner box.

Apple: We want to help the environment
Also Apple: Lets all use wireless chargers that are the least efficient way of charging things

The lost energy from wireless charging is a huge problem we don't talk about. I bet the lost energy over the life of the phone is easily as much carbon as a charger. What a joke.

Apple: Look how green we are! We are saving planet earth because everyone has a power adapter!
BUT YOU WILL STILL PAY FOR IT.

Greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed greed and more greed.

So, let me get this straight... they are saving money by not including these items, on manufacturing and environment.... yet they chrage the same price to the consumer?
Plus I will now need to order a USB-C wall charger which results in more expense, and more packaging, and more delivery pollution as well as probably a 12"x12"x4" box and plastic pillows for that charger.

Guess im screwed because I own zero USB-C accessories this was NOT the year to pull the charging adapter from the box.

We’ve had USB-C on Macs since March of 2015, so don’t act like this is some brand new to everyone technology. It’s still Lightning on the iPhone end, which means users can still use a Lightning to USB cable and USB charger if they already own one. This is a non-issue for everyone but the perpetual complainers when they have to buy a damn cable and complain bitterly about a few bucks for a new cable.

Because we're 'commitment to the environment'. I feel Apple very openly insults our intelligence more and more these days. So it'll save the environment when we buy a USB-C charger in another box - possibly with worse packaging?

So is it possible its' just greed and bigger profit margins Apple? Just be honest.

75% of the people will now have to go out and buy a brick to use their USB-C cable - how is that helping the environment?

Exactly, didn't those just start shipping with the 11s? Can't remember if the iPhone X had a USB-C charging brick (doubtful). SO dumb. So selling bricks separately to 75% of consumers after they buy their phone someone saves the environment?!
exactly, more packaging for separate power bricks as well. so dumb

I have a USB-C charger - but its cord is not removable and plugs USB-C into the phone - so the chord in the new iPhones won't work.

If this was just for waste they would have made the chargers free if you wanted them at purchase.

Apple claims the new iPhone's price stays the same, but since they're not including earphones and chargers, it's actually more expensive than ever. Yeah, the box is smaller, but you need to buy a charger, in a separate box, and you need to buy earphones or earpods in another box. So, more boxes, more shipping charges. And they do it all for me and the environment! I'm flattered!

I wonder how the "carbon footprint" of having to buy an iPhone, a charger and a pair of headphones separately, compares to buying an SKU with all three in the same box (/rhetorical).

...... and customers, will also have to pay more.
