I did get out for a walk today to a small shopping area about half a mile from my house. While waiting on takeout, I saw my phone go from LTE to 5G when I was playing a video on reddit, so it looks like my 5G is indeed working (yay).
At home last night with LTE I was 3mbps down, 0.27 up which is pretty bad. At the shopping area on 5G (not mmWave) it was 38mbps down, 28mbps up, so obviously a huge improvement. Glad at least at home in the 'burbs I have good wifi. The offices where I work potentially will have mmWave, but I have wifi there as well, so I most likely won't use it (haven't been in the offices since mid-March though).
EDIT: I'm on Verizon for reference. Play More Unlimited plan.
