This isn’t just a verizon issue, having horrible luck with Sprint. iPhone 12 Pro, i contacted Sprint, and they updated my carrier firmware OTA, and it seemed to work for a little while, but i’m still getting issues when transferring towers, and slower speeds in general. I use to get 100+ down in town and now it’s around 35mb/s, when i have service. In front of the retail store after talking to them about the issue, i was only getting .65Mb/s down, with 86% packet loss. This is so ridiculous
I am on Sprint. So what version of iOS are you running? I am currently on 14.1 and am debating whether I should update to 14.2. I truthfully am having no issues and my connectivity is much better when compared to my Xs Max. I was use to the occasional dropped call and now with the 12Pro, I have had zero. I really do not want to upgrade only to find I now have problems.

I wonder if location is a factor? I live in a rural area of Ohio. We have 5G - if you live close to the interstate. I do not so I can get one to three bars of LTE - which is actually better with this phone. According to my 12P, LTE is faster than 5G in my area - like 156Mbps vs. 95Mbps while sitting under a 5G tower.

If yours is working fine personally I’d hold off on update.

Guys. I’m in Mexico (Cancun) and I can confirm it’s most likely a Verizon problem. I have fine service. I have LTE AND 3G... nothing dropped either.

Verizon 12Pro: I drove 600mi today through 4 States, lots of rural areas. Did not ever show “no service” and changed smoothly between LTE and 5G.
I did miss one call, ie it did not show at all, not even as missed. I had the same happen after iOS 14 with my XS a few times. I still believe this is carrier firmware and/or iOS driven and will eventually be addressed.

Yep. I’m done with this iPhone 12. Piss poor “upgrade” from an 11 Pro. Less battery life, still hunts for a decent signal, marginally better photos.
I was going to downsize from my 11 Pro Max to 12 Pro but ended up going with 11 Pro. I have been pleased with 11 Pro Max (minus the size) and decided that going with 11 Pro was good enough. While the squared off designed is very nice and appealing, I am not 'naked phone' type of a guy, so it would not make much of a difference anyway.

My iPhone 12 on Verizon was also randomly losing cell service. I spoke to Apple and they said it was a known issue that some 5G sim cards that came with the phones were faulty. Not properly provisioned for 5G reception. So went to local Verizon store (they admitted there was an issue) and they replaced the sim and so far, all seems to be working. Hope this helps.

I bought an unlocked phone and had Verizon send me a new 5g sim card when I got the phone, and I've been having this issue since. Maybe I'll swing by Verizon today since it's close to my work and have them swap with another SIM... Will it make a difference? who knows since I've seen many say they've tried a new SIM and the issue still occurs, but at this point I guess it can't hurt to at least rule it out on my end.

I'm using the old sim card from my iPhone 11 pro - just moved it over to my iPhone 12 pro. I don't have a 5G plan, so I didn't bother to get a new sim. It seems to be working fine for me. I am on AT&T.

I'm just surmising but perhaps some got a bad replacement SIM. Can they tell which ones are bad without inserting them into an iPhone and testing?

I don't think they'd be able to tell, but what do I know lol

I just got back from Verizon. The guy working was well aware of the issue, said it's definitely not the phone or the SIM, and said it was due to just random congestion in certain areas which is why we lose service in those areas, but he was happy to swap out the SIM either way just to try. So I'll see if this SIM makes a difference or not. I'm assuming it won't be you never know.

'Random congestion', eh? Must be a lot of random congestion then considering all of the posts on this.

I have had my data stop working as well on my 12 pro on Verizon in southeast Michigan. I have another 4g only sim I’m going to try. I only live a couple of miles from work. My 4g signal is fine at home. I noticed this morning while on WiFi at work, my data bars were at zero. I’m also on 14.2. It seems it could be the new SIM card. I could care less about 5g. I don’t even have a new 5g plan as I’m on WiFi all day anyway.

The other day, I went to a location I regularly visit, one with a dreadful 3G/4G signal. This time, instead of my 6s, I have my 12 Pro.

First, it seemed to get a better signal. This is always difficult to assess given the impact of weather, small changes in location, etc., but I am quite sure it was better.

Second, it was so much faster at knowing it is better! Used to be the case that, while sitting in the driving seat, the phone might just about get a signal but so weak as to be unusable. Moving it a few inches, and turning it, there would be a usable signal – typically one bar. But it could take ages for the phone to detect any change at all. Maybe move the phone and wait a minute or more. With the 12, not only did it get a two bar signal (which, if accurate, is better than even before) but it showed that within a few seconds of being moved. That is, if it is a bad signal I can sensibly move the phone and see if I get a better signal with only a very slight lag.

Of course, having skipped so many generations, I don’t know when they made this improvement. Nor how much is hardware and how much software. I do know it is very welcome.

I am on the Three network in the UK.

lol right?? At this point it's hard to believe what Verizon and/or Apple is saying about this issue since half say there aren't any issues, the other half acknowledge it but say nothing more...

Not here, still getting multiple drops a day but it’s now limited to certain spots in my house. Awaiting “5G” SIM card from Verizon and arrival of wife’s 12 pro max, if that phone has the same issue.....

Okay thanks just have to see what happens I went ahead on and ordered Pro Max because we both really want bigger phones for hubby and me so hope not to have this issue we are in Texas and I have yet to hear from anyone if Dallas area is having this issue. Just have to wait and see.

Is this happening in all areas? Is anyone in the Tampa Florida area having these same connection problems? This is keeping me from getting the 12 or 12 pro.

Hey everyone! Any updates on the issues you all have been having?
So I'm going on day two of my new (which is actually my 2nd) 5G SIM, and so far I haven't had any drops. I did work from home yesterday and didn't do much driving, but on my drive to work today when it normally drops twice, I didn't notice any issues. During the drive, I was either listening to a podcast or was on the phone, and I figure one of those would have cut out if my service dropped. I'm not going to assume the issue is resolved for me, but so far so good. Could it be the new SIM? Maybe... could they be slowly fixing these issues? Also Maybe. At this point it's just a "keep using the phone and see if it happens again"

Thanks for the update and glad to read things are better for you so far. :)
