So I had an unlocked iPhone 12 Pro and used it on Verizon in Pennsylvania for a few days. I returned it Tuesday in exchange for a Verizon iPhone 12 (decided I didn’t need the features of 12 Pro) that I got from the Apple Store. I left for a work trip up to the New England area. Everything was working fine until I passed Hartford, CT on my way up to the Boston suburbs. Since then, I have been dropping cell signal all over the place while driving. Tried another SIM card and that did not fix it. While stationary in my hotel, the phone works fine. At first I thought it was the phone, but I am thinking it has something to do with the carrier software that has it acting up in certain areas. I have seen others in the Boston area experiencing the same issue.

I'm on At&t e-sim with the 12 pro and I've had no issues so far for what it's worth. Carrier settings 43.0. I did have to go into My At&t and refresh the signal to my phone though for the 5g options to pop up.

I'm on tmobile and have fewer signal bars than normal almost everywhere. LTE/data seems fine. I moved from an 8 plus and put my sim into the new phone. maybe I should activate the new sim and see if that helps, but my 8 plus never had an issue on that sim.
Signal bars don’t really mean much. If your phone is getting good signal, that is what matters.

On T-Mobile and getting terrible performance on my 12 Pro with carried over sim card. Have a route that I walk every day while playing on the phone. I've got one area that I would lose reception on my 11 (non-Pro) about a third of the time. With the 12 Pro that spot is now giant, and I've got an even bigger second deadspot. It's practically useless.
The 11 is now my wife's so I can compare them back to back.
Standing outside my house where I at least get T-Mobile LTE consistently (albeit slow), I tested both phones at the exact same time in the exact same spot on LTE.

iPhone 11 is a little over 10 Mbps.
iPhone 12 Pro is at 2.5 Mbps.

I believe t mobile requires a new SIM for 5G.

Interesting! Looks like that's needed only for standalone 5G only, which is only deployed in a few small areas at present:
Did not know that - thanks, I'll have to get a new SIM. Unfortunately, I don't think that will solve my reception issue as I can get 5G, it just has the same deadbands as LTE.

Adding my data point here
Having issues in my home.

Location: West Coast
Model: iPhone 12 Pro
Carrier: Verizon
Carrier Version: 44.0
5G Setting: Auto
5G Area: Yes
5G Plan: Yes
On ESIM

Also have an LTE Booster.

I thought that with the qualcomm modem, things would improve. I had major issues with the iphone Xs connectivity. I don't own the Iphone 12 series of phones yet as I am waiting for the Iphone 12 pro max next month, so I am concerned reading this...

What is the PRL on your iPhones with Verizon? Mine is PRL 1. To find out, just tap on the carrier Version number. If owners with issues have a different PRL than what I do, perhaps that is the problem. Just guessing.

It happens to me once or twice a day, but my signal strength as indicated by bars (yes, I know bars don’t matter) is stronger.

Mine is 1. Still having issues.

Actually getting worse. No service at the house. Had to toggle airplane mode. Then I had 3/4 bars. This is insane.

Got the new 12 Pro last Friday. Noticed several connection issues Monday and Tuesday, and promptly returned the phone for a refund yesterday.

Back to my Xs for now, and will buy the 12 Pro again in January if the bugs are fixed by then.

I'm in the Boston area and have Verizon service.

One connection drop is an happenstance. Two connection drops is a coincidence. Three connection drops is a bug.

damn it. Should have done that. Already sent in my iPhone X. THAT was having issues and was cracked. But this. The service. Is just terrible. I really don’t know what to do. Nor does Verizon or Apple...

Yeah currently at a loss & feeling defeated. It has been happening less frequently for me, maybe once or twice a day. I keep seeing more and more people reporting in about it though, either through here or reddit. I'm going to try giving Verizon a chat today and being pretty stern with them about the issue this time around. Seems there have been people talking to Apple about it, uploading their cell logs etc.

At this point the only hope I have is for iOS 14.2 to address the issue, which should drop 11/10 before the new phones drop on 11/13. Other than that I don't really know what to do...

Has anyone here have any updates/success with support from Apple or Verizon?

I talked to Verizon yesterday morning. Basically just ran diagnostics, and tried to refresh the signal to my devices. Rand speed tests for them but with no improvements. I have the 11in iPad Pro and iPhone 12 Pro. Both suffering from dropped/degraded signal. Escalated to engineers. Hopefully a resolution in 3-5 days, definitely seems to be a Verizon issue considering its spanning across multiple devices.

Here’s hoping! Just debating whether to call Apple and Verizon again or WAIT...

I have the 14.2 beta on mine and it’s still dropping but it’s still fairly in the beta itself so hoping it will be addressed.

Update. Issue is currently being worked on by Verizon. Next update in 24hrs. Definitely call and raise more awareness.

Appreciate the effort in contacting them. Going to give them a call later on today. Anything specific to say that would have them understand? Also just curious, what department were you talking to?

Anyone contacting Apple and/or Verizon, just know you are going to have to call. Using online chat will not get you very far...

I just mentioned that I was having issues with slow to non existent data speeds. Confirmed that it wasn't just my iPhone 12 Pro. Ran multiple speed tests before and after them resending the signal. Also that I would occasionally have to toggle Airplane Mode to regain service. I told them that I have performed all the basic troubleshooting (Restarted, Removed SIM Card, Reset Network Settings, etc...)

anyone else having this issue? I have an iphone 12 pro on verizon and i am not getting all my regular text messages. It seems like if im in a group chat with an android user and iphone user i am missing blocks of texts at a time. They dont come in late i just dont get them at all. imessages are fine but text messages are the issue. I already opened up a ticket with verizon and they have escalated it to the tier 2 support the network team but i havent heard back yet. I already reset network settings and the tech last night re-provisioned my account on the network but that didnt seem to fix it either.
