Except for the camera it’s a shame it doesn’t do anything different than your XR 😳
I will correct you on this! Obviously you aren’t a photographer and have average knowledge of how cameras work. The 1x camera sensor is way better, it’s over 50% larger than the XR sensor, the clarity is better, the software is better, the ISO sensitivity is much higher and better, the pixels are larger, the f/ratio is faster, it has sensor shift image stabilization, it focuses faster, it performs better in low light especially with video, the camera optics are larger and faster and there are more lens elements, video is much better, and in the hands of a pro, it is spectacular! Now that Apple ProRAW is here, the cameras are better still!

The XR doesn’t even come close!

What do you mean that’s what you meant? Your post stated that it’s a shame that the 12 pro max camera doesn’t do anything different than the Xr. Did I misinterpret your post? It just came across as sarcasm. Sorry for the average comment.

I’m Goldilocks on the size. I bought the 12 Pro Max. I kept comparing to my friend’s 12 Pro and thought there’s not much in it. I’ve used it for around two months but concluded it’s just a bit too big to use and in the pocket. So I bought the 12 Pro. It felt tiny at first (had to check it was the Pro and not the Mini!) After a weekly using the Pro I think the screen is a tad too small but I prefer it over being a bit too big. However, I don’t like the battery on the 12 Pro (20% left at 20:00 with 4hrs screen time and it’s not been a heavy day of calls or usage, whereas the 12 Pro Max would usually have over 50% on a fairly heavy day). I think I prefer something in the middle!

It's a bit too wide IMO. The new S21 Ultra will have more screen real estate yet be 2.5 mm smaller east to west. The plus size iPhones have always had a bit too much girth for me.

I had the S20 Ultra and the 120hz with the length to width ratio beats the 12PM. But the 12PM beats it in ever other way.

I had a 12 Plus, a great pone, kinda plain, but nice. Then got a we pro max, impressed with the productivity I can get out of the thing for work. Its been a pleasure. sure there's extra weight but the benefits outweigh the risk. LOVE the big screen! Hard pick between Silver or Graphite.

Reading all the reviews I thought it was going to be gigantic. It’s just a little wider than the Samsung 9+ I replaced. Glad I went PM

I've had the 6s+, 7+ and XS Max and had no problem but the 12 Pro Max felt very uncomfortable compared to those. Also phones like the Note 20 Ultra that have an even bigger screen size are easier to hold because of the curves and lighter weight. So i think it has less to do with the actual size but more of the squared design and weight which makes it feel bigger than it really is.

So you ended up with a 12 pro?

Biggest problem I'm finding with my 12 Pro Max? Every case I've tried outside of the Apple Silicon - has made this phone feel a bit too big for me. The Apple Silicon seemed to fit like a glove. Using this phone naked (the phone, not me) seems almost perfect but I have really dry hands so .... way too slippery.

Haven't really found a case that I really like (that doesn't add to heft or slipperiness of the phone).

Seriously considering going nekkid with this phone (first time since iPhone 5).

What a load of nonsense has been written about the size of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. It's enourmous! It's on the edge of being too big! It's too heavy! It hurts my pinky! I've been reading things like this for 2 months while waiting for mine to arrive. Now I have it, and I'm wondering what the hell everyone is talking about.

Coming from an iPhone Xr, this device is absolutely not too big. It's only a tad larger. After a few hours I didn't even notice the size difference anymore. And the issues with the pinky? C'mon. Seriously?

It's been well established that on the internet, the flock tends to run with the opinion that was first posted. I'm guessing that's what happened here. Some reviewers said it was too big, and many just went with it.

It's nonsense. Absolute nonsense. This device is awesome.

/rant :)

@BigMcGuire Didn't you have a 12 Pro before the Max or am I mistaken? I'm so
undecided this year which way to go, the 13 will be out before I make up my mind.

Yep, I got the 12 Pro initially, then when my wife got her 12 Pro Max I .... I uh... I had to get one too - then gave the 12 Pro to the mother in law.

Kinda wish I had kept it. It was a great sized phone.

Sold my iPad Pro 11 (2018) to my sister... got an iPad Mini 5.... returned that to get an iPad Pro 11 2020 ...

My indecisiveness has been horrific this year, LOL.

Boy do I hear that, I like the size of the Max, but it's a boat anchor, I think we've talked about exactly that too, Lol. My son wants a Pro, I'm leaning toward that too, just unsure. Was there anything that stood out about the Pro that you didn't like? I'm not overly concerned about battery life, and the screen size is okay I think, son has a 11 currently and it's not a bad size, but I'm still torn. I've never been this undecided before.

Not really - just indecisiveness. The 12 Pro felt SO MUCH BETTER in the hand and screen size was not very different from the 12 Pro Max imo. The 12 Pro Max hurts in the hand after awhile - I didn't get that with the 12 Pro. Only thing was my "mind" thinking I got worse battery - when in reality, there was not a lot of difference.

If I could do it over again I'd do the 12 Pro. No doubt. I'm even looking for a family member to buy my 12 Pro Max so I can get a 12 Pro <cough>.

You want to talk indecisiveness. lol I first got the 12 Pro, missed the big screen then got the Max. Felt it was too big/heavy but the Pro still felt small and I wanted a bigger screen without the boxy, brick-like feel of the 12 Pro Max so I retuned it and just ended up getting a used but mint 11 Pro Max from Swappa (I already sold my XS Max so I couldn't go back to that) and I love it. Still got a big screen but feels much better in hand, battery life is identical, camera is almost the same and I saved a few hundred bucks :)

I know it's mean of me to say but thank you. This makes me feel a lot better :).
