After reading every single post in this thread I came to the conclusion that the production week and the S/Ns do not give us a good indication of good and bad panels. It is just a lottery game and in the same time is widespread, so there is a high chance to receive again a bad panel. I don't have the technical background to say for sure that this is a sw or a hw issue BUT I trust my eyes (at the moment) and my experience from my past phones. This is not a way that an OLED panel should behave. Black is black ....period.
Even with 14.4 beta issue is still here, so I will skip the 12s (already sent back my 12 PM) and ordered an 11 pro max.

Good night and good luck 12s
Agreed.

I just want to know, if they have resolved the issue in the new batches.
And since you have 5 phones at a time, it's a good sample size to know about it.

Now, could you please tell the production date.
Thanks

@hashsi99 has the 5 phones. Not me. Sorry for the confusion. I just quoted you.

You can check them individually, maybe they differ.
Lol. Fernando. I did. Put them all in that German chipmunk website.

all of them have different degrees of yellow. But none have the raised blacks issue.

I just picked the least yellow. Sucks compared to my X screen. But I’ll adjust.

I am starting to think it must be a hardware issue, even though from what I have read it should or could very well be a driver/SW issue. Why has Apple not fixed the problem yet? I really don't get it.

I am a hardcore Apple user but not a fanatic. I love my Mini, second with better display but more raised blacks, the one before had bad display but not so noticeable raised blacks. I will get a 12PM Tuesday and will check it. I mean we pay so much money. And if they are so silent about it, even though they acknowledged the problems with the displays, and haven't sent out a SW update to fix it I am more and more convinced it is the hardware and they just wanna "silence the problem", thinking people forget about it.

Releasing 600$ headphones before fixing their 1500$ smartphones, this is so disappointing.

If the 12PM has a terrible display I will also look for a cheaper 11 Pro Max, even though I would favor the 12 line. 12PM is less heavy with a bigger display + 5G. 2 important things for me. Still; I will keep the Mini as it is what I have been looking for for many years. Will try 1-2 another Minis till settling with one. But these display issues (raised blacks and yellow tint and washed out colors) and how they handle the problems, and they are problems, is a No-Go. A No-Go, Apple!!!!! This should be there first mission, before releasing some s.... 600$ headphones :-(

I think we should sent Apple a message and order and return every iPhone with not good display until they will fix it. I don't get those users here complaining about people returning and reordering. Apples first priority should be fixing the display issues, not releasing more and more stuff, updates with their fitness program when people can't see those "hepatitis yellow" trainers on their iPhones. I am really angry atm at Apple.

iPhone 11 Pro / Max last year had the same issues with the glowing blacks.

It was SW and was fixed in iOS 13.6.x
So there is still hope

I did a google search. Problem was solved with 13.6.1 BUT the problem was not the glowing blacks. It was the greenish displays and affected not only the 11s but older phones as well.

I don't believe that the 12s issue is the same.

It was the same, maybe not many noticed.
I had the 11 Pro Max and I noticed from very beginning the green glowing black when switching the phone ON/OFF and was completely fixed.

On 12 series, I think it’s more aggressive than it was on 11 series.

Many contacted Apple in regard to this issue (myself included) and they said they’re working on it and it will be fixed with a future iOS update.

I will personally wait until public release of 14.4 and if there is still no fix, I will return my 12PM and keep buying / returning until I get a good one.

I would like to ask if anyone received a 12 pro max lately with no raised blacks.

Thank you.

I have until 8 January to sent my 12PM Graphite back, I think I’ll send it and get a Gold one instead and hopefully has the raised blacks issues sorted out.

Hi, i have replaced 3 phones until i could settle down on an IPhone 12 (not Pro!)
And it does not have the raised black issue. Black is pitch black and quite uniform grey in the YouTube menu.
Serial is : G6TDQ.

Based on other user‘s feedback with same serial (G6.. „Q“) they also seem to have a very good display and bright whites and not much yellow at all compared to other batches. Especially the IPhone Pro Max seems to be affected. Anyway, just wanted to report there are IPhone 12 who do not have this issue. (Production Week 48++)

I already ordered a replacement 12 Pro Max and will report back when I’ll receive it.

Where you check the production week?

EDIT:

Nvm, my current one is week 41.
It has perfect whites / perfectly even, but has terrible raised blacks.

And also I noticed that has screen image retention, which I never seen on previous iPhones and I used every single one of them and on top of that the “Home Bar” is burned in on my screen, which is ridiculous on a month old device.

It wasn't the same.

With the 11 was a thermal management issue.

Scroll all the way down to the bottom of the Mac Rumors Screen
And you will see a good example of raised blacks
With all these developers and public beta testers it’s hard to believe that they didn’t spot this and report back to 🍏

30th of December 18:19 problem still not fix (my daily post here) hope their stock keep raising and their QC keep falling
