Still on the fence about upgrading this year.

Tell me how much the 13 Pro Max trade in will be (no less than $790 PLUS PA 6% Tax like last year) also a green, different shade of dark green...anything but another blue...then maybe.

*I know, I'm asking a lot.

Not upgrading this year, my iPhone 13 Pro Max is a complete beast for what I use it for

I also think watching a movie or program on the ‘pill‘ screen will look odd on bright scenes

I will be watching the Keynote though, my eyes are on the new AirPods Pro 2 for travelling :)
Yeah I am very happy with my 13 Pro. Should have gotten the Max though. I too am going to watch the keynote but I am hoping for a new Apple TV. My 2017 ATV 4K is slow

This promo was a product launch promo that lasted only few first months. What I vaguely remember is that in addition to Apple's limited time trade in credit, T-Mobile offered additional $500 via 30-month statement credit, bringing the iPhone 13 Pro 128GB price from $999 + tax to about $80 + tax. If you have Magenta Max plan, T-Mobile will offer up to $800 credit for trading in iPhones toward the new one every 24 months.
I don’t recall any such promotion, and I work there. Upgrade fee is 35 and taxes, depending on the state. And depending on the promotion as well.

For 99% of owners of the iPhone 13 Pro, the answer of whether or not they should upgrade to an iPhone 14 Pro based on the feature set is a resounding no. Perhaps a more interesting and useful article IMO would have been comparisons to older models.

However, if you have money to burn (or can write off the purchase cost) or have some other reason to upgrade from a 13 Pro, then knock yourself out.

There is no absolute resounding and wise answer on upgrade decisions. Every individual makes a choice and maybe more than half of us will make the “wrong” choice every other time we choose to do something :).

So it all equals out.

Rich guy holds off, pinching pennies for no reason other than to brag about thrift. Meanwhile, broke student guy “buys now and pays later”. And who knows or can judge when the best time to upgrade is anyways?

If the iPhone 14 has a satellite texter feature, it’s gonna save lives - so maybe everyone should get one right? Out of this world tech!

My brain says that if you have an iPhone 13, you have no reason to upgrade, but my Apple stock says yes, all of you should upgrade.

There’s a whole bunch of upgrader levels. Many guys will be upgrading to a used 13 to save money.

I get the latest every year and hand the old ones down.

Apple will very likely break sales and revenue records again this year. This quarter will be better than last year if they start shipping iPhones and Watch earlier than last year too.

Actually here you have something: https://www.macrumors.com/2021/10/05/users-underwhelmed-iphone-13-apple-watch-7/

Only 2.9% wouldn’t buy an iPhone 13 because of USB-C. And that’s not even on all iPhone user base, but only of the subset of people who answered they didn’t want to upgrade, so my 1% is perfectly feasible.

Anyway, I think gut feeling can already tell you what I’ve shown above. Working in a tech environment, my colleagues still call USB-C “the new connector” (at best), or try to somehow describe its shape.

So I can safely bet that >80% of potential buyers don’t even know what it is. And I can bet that at least 5x more people will be pissed off because of losing Lightning accessories than people who wouldn’t buy an iPhone because of USB-C.

But anyway, it’s still a relatively small number of users, so I don’t think the switch will be a deal-breaker, just something annoying to many users.

What current need is there for 8gb?
For people that don't constantly upgrade to the latest device some extra RAM goes a long way in maintaining smooth functionality over time. I'm writing this on my XS (released in 2018) which still works decently with only 4GB RAM, which just so happens to be the same amount as the current iPhone 13.

won't argue that it is a nice feature, but I remember a world when there were no cell phones, and I traveled the world during those times, and I did just fine ... but to each their own
It’s a new era really. Give it a few years but with every human carrying a iPhone or “smart phone” - soon nobody will ever be off the radar lost - marooned on a desert island or stuck in the wilderness or floating on a life raft.

I have seen some pictures and YouTube videos that indicate the Lock Screen, Home Screen, and settings will flip in landscape mode. Do you guys think this will happen. If so, what models do you think will get this feature?

yea, and there comes the metaverse - no thank you. And then still things like MH370 happen(ed) ...

Pretty sure Holes 14 won't be enough to worth an upgrade from Notch 13. But if you have the Notch X or Notch 11 then I think it could be time.

I would like my devices to be consistent if possible. Will we get M3 Holes Book Air next year?

If so I will skip the M2 Notch Book Air and get the Holes series for both my phone and laptop.

This promo was Apple's promo in that you have to buy through Apple Store (online or physical store), then redeem the promo code at T-Mobile's promo website.

Look. If you're going to buy one asap, you love these articles. If not, of course they're annoying. To you.

I do wish they brought back the pacific blue. The hardest to get color, but I managed.
Best color hands down.

Yea or I always think of how when I learned CPR long ago, they said to get help. But what if you aren't near anyone. I guess you keep going until they shake it off or die? At least now you can contact 911 unless you are absolutely in the middle of nowhere

I doubt it, it's not in the iOS 16 beta and Apple removed it for a reason.

Or… finally catch up with the rest of apples OWN lineup and provide a faster connection for transferring HUGE files.

Ha ha perfect response and I agree. My MacBook and iPad are USBC. makes you wonder what the hold up is in the phones

Poll: "What is the main reason you won't upgrade to iPhone 13?"
