I hope people aren’t gonna be fooled by the megapixel increase. Terrible update this year. Maybe next year will see an additional lens be an added like the Galaxy.

There really aren’t any you’re gonna notice. In fact I’d not be surprised if low light performance was worse.
Has there been any iphone that had a worse camera than the previous gen? I think this is unlikely in 2022. The camera is usually one of the few notable upgraded features, even if marginal.

Pill and hole-punch is stupid. Keep the Notch (as bad as it is), until you are able to put all of that behind the screen.

I'm coming from an XR and I'm really looking at the camera improvements for the 14 Pro.

But just a reminder, all of this are just rumors until the keynote closes on the 7th.

Yes, and a notch is super smart... SMH...

I currently have an iphone 8. I think I can survive with it one more year and wait for the Iphone 15. This upgrade is very small in my eyes, or not something I need. I could get an older model but the prices aren't dropping. an Iphone 12 pro is still 1100 euro.

Without even reading the article I knew the answer. Apart from design changes it is not really upgrade worthy for a 13 Pro users imho. I even read the performance is marginal faster compared to 13 Pro.

Apple needs to introduce a new cooling chamber for it is iPhones. It is now hitting a limit for it’s heat.

Great times are coming again for iPhone 15 and beyond.

1mm difference in size, not enough to actually notice, just enough so you have to buy all new cases (where good quality cases like mous can also set you back quite a bit). Apple is king in draining cash from your bank account!

I just upgrade every year. Every year, I used to say I wasn't upgrading, then the new phone would be announced and I'd order one. I've just given up.

After selling the old one, I probably spend $300-400 on the upgrade. My phone is my most used device and I don't mind spending that money every year to have the latest and greatest one.

The iPhone 14 Pro is among Apple's latest iPhone models and follows last year's iPhone 13 Pro, but how different are the two successive high-end iPhone generations?

iPhone-13-Pro-vs-iPhone-14-Pro-Feature.jpg

In 2021, Apple unveiled the iPhone 13 Pro as the successor to the popular iPhone 12 Pro, featuring ProMotion displays, an improved rear camera system, the A15 Bionic chip, longer battery life, and more. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have now been discontinued by Apple, and as year-old models, prices from third-party resellers are falling. As such, some customers may be weighing up whether to upgrade to an iPhone 13 Pro or an iPhone 14 Pro.

As the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro share a large number of features and the same fundamental design, should you consider buying or sticking with the iPhone 13 Pro to save money? Our guide helps to answer the question of how to decide which of these two iPhone models is best for you, and serves as a way to clearly see the differences that the iPhone 14 brings to the table.

Comparing the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro

Although the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro share most of their basic features, the iPhone 14 Pro offers a large number of notable upgrades over its predecessor, such as the A16 Bionic chip, an all-new "Dynamic Island," an always-on display, and significantly improved cameras.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the iPhone 14 Pro is a fairly significant upgrade over the iPhone 13 Pro, introducing meaningful features like the Dynamic Island and the always-on display that provide new ways to interact with the device. The iPhone 14 Pro also brings major advancements to photography and videography in almost all areas, increasing the main camera's megapixel count for the first time since the iPhone 6S and introducing a new quad-pixel sensor, improving Cinematic mode and introducing Action mode, adding autofocus to the front-facing camera, enhancing low-light performance across the whole device with Photonic engine, and more. That is not to mention Emergency SOS via satellite, new color options, an additional hour battery life, and the A16 Bionic chip – Apple's first chip made with a 4nm fabrication process.

Due to the scale and breadth of these improvements, some iPhone 13 Pro users could justify upgrading to the iPhone 14 Pro if they highly value camera capabilities or simply like the Dynamic Island. Customers coming from an older model certainly have good reason to preference the latest "Pro" model over the iPhone 13 Pro.

Yeah, not interested in a iPhone 14 at all. Apple keeps making these freaking things larger and heavier. Does Tim Cook have any idea what the limitations are for the average pocket? Additionally, from all appearances, the 48 megapixel camera is more of a marketing ploy than providing a true higher resolution image like a real digital camera. Regardless, the weight and size of the iPhone is its biggest detractor in my estimation.

Reactions: that be me
One thing I do like about this release is the 6.7" iPhone 14 (not pro) I can see that one selling more especially for the ones that would buy a pro max but not at over $1K

Nah I’m good for now. ProMotion is what I really wanted. It was a good upgrade from the 11 Pro Max but iPhone 14 is just too experimental. I’ll give it another year to see how this eSIM thing plays out. They don’t do “S” years anymore but I think it’s clear this is a “tick” year and I’ll wait for the next “tock” like the 13 was.

I’m not impressed with Dynamic Island. In fact I’m kind of angry about it because they’ve essentially forked development and now rumors say they intend to fork it further.

No USB-C. No sale.
I still have an XS and I will stick with it until it dies. If it lasts long enough, where I think the 14s September 2023 would probably be USB-C to be compliant with European law plus the eSIM only I somehow think this will backfire and Apple will revert.

Upgraded from a regular 13 (the first brand new iPhone I actually bought, as I inherited older models from siblings in the past) to a 256GB 14 Pro.
I know it sounds crazy and I'd have gladly remained with the 13 if general use was my only interest.

That said, being a motion designer for work, I use the phone mostly for video recording with Filmic Pro and I'd actually make good use of the prores, not to mention the telephoto lens (I wanted to have one for so long).
I also work with AR, therefore I love the idea of having the lidar.

Basically the iPhone for me is a productivity tool, as I prefer to spend much more on a premium smartphone to do it all anywhere I am rather than having separate (although better in their own regards) tools such as a separate camera and lens.

This doesn't change the fact the phone was outrageously expensive, and thank god I had a pristine 13 to send back and recover a third of the money.

How about a 13 Pro vs 14 non pro comparison - much more interesting match-up if the 13 pro can be scored with a discount on clearence

I currently have an iphone 8. I think I can survive with it one more year and wait for the Iphone 15. This upgrade is very small in my eyes, or not something I need. I could get an older model but the prices aren't dropping. an Iphone 12 pro is still 1100 euro.
Exact same boat, on the iphone 8 plus. I was so sure was finally upgrading this year but all in all they are just still not enough there. Think the culmination of updates + next years will finally make upgrading undeniable (though I am sure the US price will also go up now). Real bummer tho if they had put USB C or Periscope Lense I would have done it finally this year.

I went from an iPhone 7 pro to a 13 pro. That was a huge leap. This, not so much, will probably wait and upgrade in another 3-4 years. I love my 13 pro. I am upgrading my watch 4 to an 8 this year though. Now bring on the new iPad pros!

Essentially, the same phone, even the colors! WHY (cant they change it up!) LOL
Gonna disagree, the camera is a huge upgrade. 48MP, 1/2.8in sensor (vs 1/1.7in in 13 Pro.) 2x zoom from the center crop. The 13 Pro's camera was already a big upgrade from the 12 Pro, but not as much of a leap as this.

Dynamic Island is a nice upgrade over the notch, if only because you can see/get back to a timer you set without having to find the app again.

Also, even the colors were updated. Space Black is much darker than "graphite" from last year. Silver is more white than last year. And there is purple. Only Gold has stayed the same.

As with any YoY upgrade, it isn't worth it to most people. And I'd say 12 Pro -> 13 Pro was a bigger leap primarily from the 120hz display upgrade. But this year is one of the biggest YoY upgrades ever, other than say iPhone X and 120hz from last year.

yeah I upgraded, but I understand silver is the same, not different there are only two new colors, purples and "black" which to me looks just like graphite from last year .....

I'm wondering why the aperture is smaller on the ultra wide lens (from f/1.8 back down to f/2.2). Anyone have a clue?

Not for me, don't really mind the island and I do not tend to shoot videos while running (don't think a single time I've done it). Performance difference seems to be negligible between the two.

But hey if you want to shoot amateur action movies with your phone, this is will be quite the upgrade.

Need Type C over the lightening charger. So I can use the same charger as my MacBook Pro…. Oh wait, they changed that to MagSafe
