I tested this in every app and I can’t hear any noise. The only thing that sometimes happens is recording a video in Snapchat after a few seconds will get blurry then refocus. I think that is unrelated to this issue?
Ok, don’t get too worried, but focus issues now added to the list - but I think they stayed blurry?

Who knows, I did play around with a 14 Pro Max an hour ago and no shaking or noises in the stock camera app.

Work from home quality. This is probably the first iPhone to be developed mostly during Covid.

Now we know why Cook is adamant about workers returning to the office. "Working" from the beach is over. Tim Cook has all the data on the lack of productivity and employee disengagement. Macrumors forum posters that claim they know how to run Apple better are not smarter than Tim Cook.

I'm skipping the iPhone 14 and probably also the iPhone 15. I'll buy the iPhone 16 because it'll be the first iPhone designed and produced with workers in the office.
Productivity fell in Q1… it was the biggest drop since 1947. The data is clear and we’re seeing it anecdotally from companies everywhere, including Apple. $25 billion a year on R&D should be giving us a hell of a lot more innovation and a lot less bugs.

A few seconds on tik tok isn’t long term.
True, but from the video I've seen it does sound like it's slamming the OIS from edge to edge, so maybe a shorter duration but larger vibrations? No idea! I don't own a 14 so am just guessing.

Whatever the issue I expect it'll (a) be fixed and (b) hardware replaced if it actually comes to that. Like you though, I suspect it's unlikely.

Yes I’ve noticed that too. But still no noise. So we are good? Lol
I don’t know. I don’t think it’s normal for the cameras to take 3 seconds to change, they are so slow. So anyway, I’m going to replace this thing. Hopefully is not as widespread and it’s just a bad batch.

Apple support told me they are aware of the issue and asked me if I wanted to wait to see if they can fix it with a software update or if I wanted to replace the phone. I told them I want to replace it lol

Didn’t know about this. Makes sense but it does say “, long-term direct exposure to high-amplitude vibrations within certain frequency ranges may degrade the performance of these systems and lead to reduced image quality for photos and videos. It is recommended to avoid exposing your iPhone to extended high-amplitude vibrations. “

A guy here left it for a whole minute. I don’t think you have seen the videos. This thing shakes like 5 times a second

Yet for every one of those stating "dropped productivity" there are five that say same productivity or better. Depends on the micromanaging pseudo-managers.

No they didn't stay blurry. It would get blurry for a second then refocus back to normal

I wouldn't replace it unless your camera is making that noise. If you replace it and get a phone where the camera makes a noise then you are even more screwed

No one says bugs didn't exist before.

It's the incredibly stupid and embarrassing bugs, hardware defects, and delays after delays for product launches. All of these have increased in frequency since WFH.

Before COVID, only the most disciplined and valuable members of the work force were given permission by employers to work from home. After COVID, everyone got to work from home. What could possibly go wrong?
This isn't just a WFH issue. It's not that simple. China is still doing rolling lockdowns. Everyone from R&D to manufacturing of each of the 100's of components are still dealing with Covid related issues. That's unlikely to change anytime soon. It's affecting manufacturing in all sectors, not just technology. Anyone that thinks these issues are because someone in the States is working from the beach..."may" need to get a larger world view.

It is interesting that instagram and Snapchat released an update this morning. Hoping Apple releases a statement like they did for copy and paste

I see this feature as a major plus. The world would be better off if none of these apps had ever been invented. Now if we can get the camera to start rattling in Facebook and Twitter, that would be another major win.

I’m not sure. Mine only ever did it once. A reboot fixed it and it didn’t come back *yet*
Same with mine. But I suspect this is just bad hardware and not a bad batch.

Probably will never get fixed so if I have the same issue with my next phone I’m just gonna ask for a reimbursement
