Of course purple is royal. Why else would Prince sing about standing in the Purple Rain?

🎵🎶PURPLE PHONE, PURPLE PHONE🎶🎵
I’m telling my kids this was Prince.

I just looked at Best Buy site looks like they all phones available for pick up or delivery next Friday. I did this on the 12 Pro.
Good luck with Best Buy. Horror stories every year with them...there are countless threads every year about people not getting phone on release day like they were promised.

The "get ready" process within the Apple Store app is so nice. I had all my stuff entered last night - my configuration, a gift card I wanted to use, etc - and this morning I opened it at 8am EST, clicked the Apple Pay button, and it was literally done before 8:01.

The people saying this was a disaster... I feel for you, but try that in the future.
I had done all of those things, every detail was ready to go. On top of that, I was refreshing on my iPhone, iPad, and MacBook, and the store simply wouldn't let me in until 5:08am PST, and by then my desired config (14 Pro Max, 128GB, Silver) had slipped 2-3 weeks. Such a bummer :(

This had to have been one of the worst launches in recent Apple history. The past years of Apple preorders were quite smooth using the Apple Store app but this year was a nightmare. Finally got my order through 20min after 8am for a Sept 16th pickup then had to go thru the AT&T website to get another line upgraded. Such a mess!
It could be that these new 14 Pros are more exciting that the previous models, hence, more people flooded the order system?

It’s been this way, for me at least, for at least the past few years.

Funny thing is, I set an alarm for 10 minutes before preorder opens and set up. Open the Apple store app on the iPhone and the website on the iPad. Clock strikes 8am (EDT) and I’m refreshing like a mad man trying to get in. My wife, who couldn’t care less when she gets the phone, causally opens the app, clicks away and before 8:01 she’s already got a confirmation email. Then she taunts me because I’m still staring at the “Be Right Back” screen on the site. I finally get in 10-15 minutes later. Luckily for me this year, I guess my preferred spec (Pro, 256, SB) wasn’t in high demand so I still got a launch day delivery but that wasn’t the case last few years.

I was unable to "pre prepare my order..>" Every time I did so, it wouldn't enter my bag.
If I clicked "view prepared orders" it always came up empty even though I ran through the process a dozen times over the last 24 hours.

So I had to order from scratch the moment it came online and website stalled here in Japan and my order finally went through at 9:08pm... So it's already fooking October for my purple iPhone 14 pro max 256gb...

Seriously that's already a month into the next cycle.... Are apple taking the absolute piss?

And yet, a couple of hours after they went on sale, there are hundreds of iPhone 14 Pros on offer on Yahoo Auctions (a sort of high quality "legitimate" version of ebay) for $1300 to $1500 USD... they can fook right off!
Why do Apple allow this sort of shiite?

Here in Japan you can't even get a band's live ticket for someone else without a phsyical ID and yet Apple are willing to sell to the Chinese fleecers without even a single ID card at the drop of the hat...
Talk about lack of loyalty to faithful customers!

They could simply lock down their phones to pre registered Apple accounts for 30 days and not lose a single sale. Instead they willingly facilitate the triads in their money making schemes... (if you think I'm just ranting, you are wrong. The chinese mafia often get their massive slave base to purchase foreign popular items until they are unavailable to regular folk in order to resell them at a higher price on auction sights and simultaneously fund their diverse mafia "activities")

Here in Japan, purple 14 pro max 256 GB are already entering NOVEMBER!

Absolute s hi t e.

So from flat out being told that T-Mobile said my number was inactive (?!) I've now moved on to this...a reservation number with the need to wait for T-mobile systems to become responsive. Question for you all: Do I have a phone ordered or not? lol...feeling a bit in limbo here.

Then tried a few minutes later for my wife's Pro, and that went through fine. So at least she's set. I'm...sorta kinda not set just yet?!

You mean like Apple?
No. Can’t remember even a single post where person got email confirmation from Apple with release day delivery and phone not arriving on release day. Has it happened? Sure it has but comparing Apple to Best Buy is just silly.

Was a common occurrence in the US until Apple started to limit how many you could buy. Years ago when I use to buy in person, group in front of me purchased 25+ phones in cash…all to resell.

Inflation is hitting all countries so why has Apple not raised prices in the US like it has done in the UK and Europe? Scandalous.

Got my order in at 8:04am eastern, shipping estimate is that AT&T will send out my 1TB Space Black iPhone 14 Pro on Thursday the 15th. WooHoo!
my too.. it says Sept 15th.. i was thinking that's when it'll be shipped to the store and then mailed to me but I hope that it comes to me on the 15th

You’d think someone with a name like slippery Pete would have a sense of humor.

Wonder if there's a difference between unlocked and carrier specific in terms of checkout issues. I always get unlocked and the migrate/activate when it shows up.

Because the US dollar is strengthening and the Euro and Sterling are down double-digit %'s.

Plenty available for pick up at my local Apple Store but Apple and Verizon won't let me order one with my PO Box address since Verizon won't ship phones to a PO Box (which shouldn't apply since I want to pick up the phone).

Used get ready process yesterday, went to Apple site at launch time today, & was finished in 5 minutes. This is the first time I’ve ordered an iPhone directly from Apple rather than ATT. I indicated that I used AT&T on the order form. Does anyone know if I have to contact AT&T, or if the Apple order took care of that. I’m replacing a 12ProMax, so i will use the same plan.
