— It was 2 year cycles in the beginning: iPhone 1, 3GS, 4S, 6S
— Now it’s 4 year cycles: iPhone 8, 12, 16, 20.
— Assuming I live long enough to see iPhone 20, then 5 year cycles: iPhone 20, 25, 30.
— Assuming I live long enough to see iPhone 30, I will then switch to a flip phone with the largest B&W LCD screen and font size 🧐, and that will be the phone that will be buried (or cremated, haven't decided) with me.

Now that's called a buying roadmap 👶🏻 — 🪦.

So tempted to order the new iPhone 15 Pro Max in Silver. I had buyer's remorse and regrets not ordering it since last September. 🤍

I wasn’t going to upgrade till next year but will get the 15 Pro Max. Going to a larger size with more storage as the main reasons.

I’ll be upgrading my 12 pro max extreme ultra deluxe etc. in January (mid cycle) for maximum discount. 3 years is too soon and 4 years the battery is too dead.

Probably. But partly due to some water damage to my 12 mini. Going to see if I like what Apple has to offer, then weigh it against a refurbished/used 13 mini (I like the form factor of smaller phones).

You should strongly consider the cheap option of a battery swap done by Apple on your older phone. I recommend that after 3 years on all phones.

Definitely upgrading. I've had every single iPhone except for the 14. My 13 is getting long in the tooth. Battery is degrading, camera lenses are scratch, screen has scratches and it's slowed down a bit. Looking forward to this refresh.

11 Pro still works perfectly aside from the original battery which needs replacing. Nothing compelling in the newer models, I expect another 2-3 years before upgrading. Incremental updates have been really boring.

Dare we say that the annual iPhone product revisions have nearly hit their limits to what can be incorporated? What can they offer that is that desirable to a recent iPhone owner? o_O
Yep, as with pretty much all computing equipment…

All of the car manufacturers have been doing the same thing, and they're (along with the dealers) now having major problems moving inventory. Jeep, for example, is in big trouble - dealers can't sell Grand Cherokees becuase they're priced too high ($60k for THAT car?), and those goofy Wagoneers priced at $110k are just sitting around.

Tons of these cars sitting on dealers lots for 200+ days.

Add in EV upgrades and expenses (that no one wants) and make the fire even worse.

Ford, GM... all making the same mistakes. Wonder why these business leaders think general consumers would be even remotely interested in $60k cars, especially right now.

It had been a tough unit sales period for automakers due to supply chain issues, chip shortages, etc. but things appear to be starting to turn around a bit. Lack of available inventory, at least with some models, is still a problem though.

U.S. FCA (Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat and Alfa Romeo) sales were up 6% in the second quarter. Jeep Grand Cherokee sales were up 19%.

U.S. General Motors (Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac) sales were up 19% in the second quarter.

U.S. Ford (Ford and Lincoln) sales were up 10% in the second quarter.

USB-C is great an all but we got dozens of lightening cables through out the house and cars.
If not lightning cable then magsafe charging so either way..
I know there will be other "life changing" features but still.

No rush to switch just yet to the "Best iPhone Apple has ever made"

I will be upgrading for sure. USB-C and the hopes of an upgraded photography experience are my reasons why.

I have some issues with the quality and performance of the 14 ProMax camera, and the images it produces disappoint me. Nothing wrong with the phone/camera/software, I'm just not happy with the camera and the shooting experience in general. The video is excellent for a phone, and I find it more than top notch, it's just the camera.

One more thing that would make me super-happy, is if they actually release the ProMax with a proper Black colorway, but I've been holding my breath every release window...

OK, my mileage does vary - IMHO, the biggest step ahead, apart from introing 4k with the 6s and the UWA camera with the 11, was the 12 -> 48 Mpixel switch in the last 10 years. Those 48 Mpixel images are SO much more detailed than the 12 Mpixel ones.

IMHO, just a longer tele lens, while certainly welcome, is considerably smaller an upgrade than the 12 -> 48 Mpixel switch was.
As a photographer i can tell you 48mp is a pretty meaningless number on a sensor so small. My Nikon Z8 full frame has 47mp. On the phone i just image it leads to storage eating up unnecessarily fast. Id rather have a zoom lens take me in close for detail than have to crop unnecessarily huge image on a phone.
