iPhone 12 Pro here... many reasons for me to upgrade, not least of which I am committed to a 3-yr upgrade cycle. Tho the 12 Pro is a great phone. I love it. Incidentally, the 12 Pro battery now at 80% health, which to me is an impressive feat after 3 years of use.

Statistically, I think I might be in the "perfect" 15 Pro Max customer cohort. I live in Texas so I am excited about 3nm and new battery tech allowing the unit to run cooler in the Texas heat (hopefully). Longer battery life a major win. I am also interested in the emergency satellite services. Thinner bezels. USB-C thunderbolt maybe allowing connection to an external screen? (I dunno about that, but would be cool). Finally, most excited about the telescope lens. That's something I've wanted to see in an iPhone since.... forever. I don't normally go for Max sized, but would go for Max for this feature.

Am I expecting too much from this upgrade? What do you all think?

Having an iPhone 13 ProMax, and an AW5...I think itll be an upgrade to the AWU.2 this year, unless the phone has something extremely compelling this go around.

I think I’ll likely hang onto my 12 Pro a little longer. It’s physically in great shape and battery is still holding up well at 89% health. Though, 3 generations old is about when I start to get the itch for something new.

Perhaps I’ll wait to see what the 16 is bringing to the table and either snag one of those, or, if the differences are minor compared to the 15 series take my carrier up on their annual “help us clean out our inventory” deals on the 15 Pro…

Can somebody spell this out... titanium frame. Doesnt that mean lighter? The regular non pro phones are SO much lighter than the Pros right now. They feel so different in the hand. Cant they make it lighter once every 7 flipping years instead of giving us this barely perceptible 11% thickness and weight increase year over year? I want the best phone they think they can make but somethings got to give...

Still happy with my 12 Pro. Don't like the increasing prices and it's generally still not that much of an upgrade over what I have. I'll use this for another few years. Maybe around the time the 18 comes out, I'll be ready to upgrade.

I've upgraded every year except iphone 11 Pro max. I will be upgrading this year from the 14 pro max as i like the idea of titanium and the curved back, plus all the internal upgrades. I use my phone without a case so the new feel will be a nice touch, adn if they come out with that dark red color i really like the renders (if its blue again i'll be annoyed and probably go black or silver). In Canada there is no iphone upgrade program so i have to buy new straight up which sucks, especially with the almost guaranteed price increase. Will be giving my 14 pm to my wife who will give her 13 pm to my dad who has a broken back 12 pm, so i cant even subsidize the cost.

I was really disappointed with the 13 to 14 move, i felt no real change except worse battery life. The dynamic island i actually like though. I have the cash to spend but Apple is making it tough to really make me want the new phone. I always upgrade laptops and ipads after 4-5 years, but for some reason i always want the latest phone.

I think they will sell like hotcakes. Demand will be very high! If you miss out on the Pre-Ordering time. Expect delays for months.
Apple orders less iPhones and get news that demand is low; iPhone sell out for months, news that demand is higher than anticipated.

It's been a cycle for what feels like years. But I think we'll really be able to tell the true demand after a year when everyone who looked at upgrading makes their decision. I have an XS so I will certainly be one of the people upgrading in September. I thought about the 13 and the 14 but decided not to.

Coming from the XS, there's a lot to be excited about.

I am happy to (hopefully) see USB-C coming to the line up but it's not enough to persuade me to upgrade just yet. My 13 Pro Max still lasts me about 3 days on a charge and looks/works like new. When I pre-ordered, the plan was to keep it for a minimum of 3 years and I'm hoping to make 5+ unless something completely game changing comes out. So game changing that I can't even imagine what it would be, hah!

Now, if a new iPad mini is released with a ProMotion display...I'll be gleefully throwing my money at Apple. :)

Yes, titanium is lighter than stainless steel.

iPhone 14: 6.07 oz
iPhone 14 Pro: 7.27 oz

Some of that extra weight is the metal. But some is the camera module. The battery size is almost identical for these two models.

Will the phone shed an entire ounce? Hard to say. Camera improvements and battery improvements might just add the weight back on. Most Android phones in this size range are also in the 6 oz range, so it would be real nice for the Pro to slim down.

BTW, 13 mini is 4.97 oz and fits in the hand so well you might not need a case (which saves you another 1-2 oz).

I hope they will have an "ultra" option, I saw a concept (below) way back and loved the idea. Either I will get the 15 "ultra"/Promax or the 14 Promax, but there will be an upgrade.

USB-C and Titanium, and I will upgrade. The weight of the stainless steel framed phones is ridiculous. And then I can finally carry just one cable/battery/power brick and charge every device.

I am upgrading from 14 Pro Max to 15 Pro Max...but if they're working on a rugged iPhone Ultra then let us know before the 15 Pro Max event. I would like to upgrade to a companion iPhone for Watch Ultra. Naming iPhone 15 Pro Max the "Ultra" would be very lame; that's Samsung's thing.

I upgrade every year regardless of what has changed and what hasn't. Why? Because someone in the comments section years ago told me I do not need to upgrade every year and it is wasteful. So I make sure I do it religiously because I could give a flying leap what you think I should do with my money.

Be careful with reverse psychology 😁

As a photographer i can tell you 48mp is a pretty meaningless number on a sensor so small. My Nikon Z8 full frame has 47mp. On the phone i just image it leads to storage eating up unnecessarily fast. Id rather have a zoom lens take me in close for detail than have to crop unnecessarily huge image on a phone.
I do a lot of documenting work for friends etc., where I need as much resolution as possible, preferably in a phone. Apple's 48 Mpixel ProRaws are a godsend in this respect. And I do know it's not true 48 Mpixels because of the color filter arrangement - actually, in good light, my Nokia 808 has slightly better pixel-level resolution because of its full Bayer sensor (I did compare the two and the Nokia 808 turned out to be slightly better, resolution-wise). However, in a modern phone, and particularly iPhone, the new sensor is absolutely stunning.
