I’m waiting for battery capacity to get to 80% then will do a battery replacement on my 13 mini.
That was my plan when I got this phone - extend its life for years. But... I can't live with the screen size any more. It's too small and cramped. My previous XS was just right, and it was a mistake to take the size down (to 5.4) instead of the size up (to 6.1).

Will swap my 13 pro for 15 pro and then probably hold on to it for three years. Mainly for the convenience of USB C

Nope. Perfectly content with my iPhone 12 Mini.

Even so, it and the current OS resting on laurels. There hasn't been a 'one more thing' moment at Apple for some time.
And no, a folding cell phone or bezel-less ain't it, either. As for the OS, its all repetition of past work with occasional 'Squirrel!' moments tossed in to keep the Macolytes happy - but usually buried so far down inside an app or inscrutably placed somewhere in Settings, few actually use it.

As long as my Mini works, I see no need for an 'upgrade' - and the spike in price that will include.

Time to retire the old 6s. Need more onboard space for music, need to upgrade to new HomeKit architecture, need better battery life, finally getting an upgrade to a 3 nm chip, and better camera closeups of dangerous wild animals (and off the rail humans) won't hurt.

If it's gonna cost more than $2000, my 12PM gonna get a new battery and wait until someone wants to sell his/her's Christmas present.

You may be interested to research the topic of Giffen Goods. Your logic is usually right, but not always right.

There is also Veblen Goods - also worth researching.

It had been a tough unit sales period for automakers due to supply chain issues, chip shortages, etc. but things appear to be starting to turn around a bit. Lack of available inventory, at least with some models, is still a problem though.

U.S. FCA (Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram, Fiat and Alfa Romeo) sales were up 6% in the second quarter. Jeep Grand Cherokee sales were up 19%.

U.S. General Motors (Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac) sales were up 19% in the second quarter.

U.S. Ford (Ford and Lincoln) sales were up 10% in the second quarter.
"Chip shortages" being milked, imo.

Not just in availability, but in what they're willing to build - reserving whatever stock of chips for the highest trim and highest margin cars, that absolutely no one is clamoring for.

I'm curious what Q3 will show.

I'm in the market right now shopping for cars after my last one got totaled, and it looks like an ugly situation for both customers (me) and for dealers. Consumers don't want to or can't spend $60k at 8%+ interest on a depreciating asset. Trims and features (EV) that are completely out of line with what customers want. Dealers and their banking partners appear to be getting nervous.

Again, have browsed through lots of Jeeps (what I used to drive) and have seen plenty sitting on lots for 200+ days.

Used cars are overpriced and higher milage than what I've seen before, probably as a result of lack of new sales/leases during the corona times that should have been coming due by now.

It doesn't seem like inventory on lots is moving all that much.

I'm definitely upgrading from my 11 Pro Max this fall to a 15 Pro Max; and I'm glad to do it before this stupid "Ultra" line skyrockets pricing for the iPhone 16 next year.

The price for the 15 pro max will be 100-200 dollars more than what the 14 pro max cost last year at launch according to this report. So unfortunately, you will still be paying extra.

My iPhone 6s probably needs to be replaced at some point. Hard to know when though because it takes a licking but keeps on ticking -- oh, wait, that's something else I own.
I’d keep on using my iPhone 7 except that I let something drop onto the screen and put in permanent lines, the battery doesn’t last very long (maybe 5 hours) and it shuts down after resuming use some mornings. Looking forward to the 15 Max Pro as soon as I can get it.

I am not planning upgrade from my iPhone 12 mini unless they unexpectedly release iPhone 15 mini or some must want/have feature but they not done that for many years for me. Plus I really need new iPad Air since my current iPad struggling so money this year for iPad and next year maybe new iPhone 16 or mini if it exits.

My XR is 5 years old soon. We're only allowed to buy SE at work, and that feels like a downgrade. When the SE comes with faceid I'll upgrade.

I will upgrade if @TheYayAreaLiving 🎗️ and iJustine let us know if it's worth it.

😁😂🤣
Bottomline: Upgrade! You missed a few of my posts on this thread :)

Keep in mind we are getting the Titanium Metal. It's more expensive than Stainless Steel. Titanium frame will match up nicely with the Apple Watch Ultra.

Weak, unstable economy/consumer behavior = Lower demand
Strong, optimistic economy/ consumer outlook = Higher demand

Most of Apple's customer will not be dissuaded by price increases. Tell me what has not gone up significantly since covid began?

That simple. The idea that it is a simple as you portray it is kind of naive. There has been a fair amount written about the elasticity of demand for Apple's products or lack thereof. Repeated studies have shown demand for iPhones is inelastic relative to pricing. Google it. You will find numerous studies from respected sources to back that up.

Additionally, can you name a major manufacturer of mobile devices that is not experiencing drops in demand during the current economic cycle? So far, Apple's negative news is a lot more positive than everyone else's.

Earnings and future guidance will be out tomorrow. Let's see what they say.

I have had every iPhone every year since since the very first day they were launched. I see no reason to change. Part of it is that this is my job and people expect me to have the new toys so they can see them.... and now it is just a habit as well. So sign me up for iPhone 15 Pro Max 512GB. I wish they had Army Green or Product(RED) as a color option on launch day so I know what cool color it is below the color-hiding case I put on it.

I am still having a XS and I still don’t know why I would need a new iPhone. It does exactly the same as the current model. Unless you want a better camera there is no reason to upgrade an iPhone for the last couple of years. Everything they have come up with are gimmicks.
