Most people don’t live near enough to Apple Stores to pop in on a Friday morning without driving an hour or more.
Not sure about 'most', however it's a fair point, but doesn't negate a word of what I said. Apple also allow for same day collections on launch day so collect at leisure.

I'll be curious to see how the numbers settle for this release. With AT&T (and I'm assuming other carriers) spreading out their iPhone subsidies across 36 months, I'd have to pay $400+ to upgrade my 13 Pro Max. I'll wait until next years model.
If there is a big enough impact, Apple could put pressure on the companies to roll that back to 24 months or come up with a way to allow trade-ins sooner.

Nah. No point stressing out launch day iPhone. It’s not like every iPhone produced past launch day would magically malfunction or whatnot.

I just walk into Apple Store and see which sku available to order.

I'm getting mine on the 22nd September with a home delivery.

Wondering now though, if i should have gone with a store pick. I've had issues with deliveries being delayed in the past.

thats no good
Problem I believe is they think they're helping with prepreorder, but all that does is have a ton of people tapping a few buttons at regular preorder and flooding the system

Ordered my Pro Max 512 GB Black Ti this morning at 07:19 CDT when the store finally went live with AT&T. Mine will deliver on launch day. According to Apple website as of 09:49 CDT, shipping is now Oct 16-23 and unavailable for pickup at any of the 9 Apple Stores in the Houston area. Will be monitoring to see how this worsens throughout the day 😂

Edit: added store count

Got my 15 Pro Max from T-Mobile, in blue, the complete transaction took 5 minutes. I was shocked. Now their website is down.

This is quick, but note that Apple limits pre-order availability. Expect more units to be released next Friday.
I feel like every time I Pre-order it’s always perpetually delayed u till I just find it in a local store and get it there. Happened with my MacBook and with last two iPhones I ordered this way. I feel like bestbuy is faster but no unlocked version.

Ordering through the AT&T app was a complete cluster early on but eventually it went through for launch day delivery.

The fact is I knew delivery dates would slip in a hurry if I didn’t get in quick so I’m very happy I lucked out. 🍀

What do you gain from having an unlocked phone? The freedom to change carriers? How often do you do that?
It used to vastly de-complicate getting a local SIM card to work when traveling to foreign countries. Less of an issue since E-Sim became a thing.

Not everyone is home for delivery, delivery times are all over the place with, at least in the US, UPS, or people are out and about during delivery times. . .

Others don’t trust delivery at all
That last sentence is key. I would never trust delivery. I bet UPS will still be useless with their $170k packages like fast food still is worthless getting $15/hr

Finally upgrading my 64GB XR, to a 1TB Natural Titanium Pro Max. Ordered through AT&T. Had to update my billing information and with the traffic it took a while. Was brought to the order page by 8:02, but due to incorrect billing and having to update it, I couldn't get the order in until 8:45. Still showing 9/22 delivery, thankfully.

Should be a substantial upgrade. I try to stick with my phones for a while - so I don't mind the contract through AT&T, plus you can always buy out of the contract for whatever the full price of the phone is anyway, so why not?

Why in the hell are the regular iPhone 15 and 15+ still available for launch date? But for the iPhone 15 Pro Max, you have to wait 2 months?

Apple began accepting pre-orders for the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max today, and shipping estimates for the devices on Apple's online store are already beginning to slip into November for many configurations.

iPhone-15-Pro-lineup.jpg

As of 7:15 a.m. Pacific Time in the U.S., the iPhone 15 Pro Max is facing up to a 6-7 week shipping estimate for some configurations on Apple's online store, while the iPhone 15 Pro faces up to a 2-3 week delay for some models. The lower-end iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus are largely still available for launch-day delivery.

Inventory will inevitably continue to tighten for both delivery and Apple Store pickup as the day progresses, so order quickly if you are planning to.

As is common when iPhone pre-orders begin, some customers have encountered errors while attempting to place their orders on Apple's website or in the Apple Store app, amid the influx in demand. The issues will likely resolve as the day progresses.

iPhone 15 Pro models have several new features, including a USB-C port, lightweight titanium frame, customizable Action button, faster A17 Pro chip manufactured with a 3nm process, up to 5x optical zoom on the Pro Max model, thinner bezels around the screen, Wi-Fi 6E support, an increased 8GB of RAM, and much more.

The devices will launch in stores and begin arriving to customers on Friday, September 22.

I did the preorder ready form from Apple two days ago so when preorders opened up at 7 AM CDT I just did a few clicks with my mouse and voila, the iPhone 15 Pro Max 256 GB natural titanium will be delivered next Friday. If you snooze, you lose and I'm afraid not everybody took Apple's advice on this and didn't log in when they started taking preorders and waited too long. I can't believe they are quoting a November delivery date now for the Pro Max.

Is it mostly the Pro Max that is pushing out? Or certain colors? I didn't bother to get up early and was able to order a 15 Pro in black at 8am MDT no problem.

As someone who had a 14 Pro that was supposed to arrive on release day last year, only to have it "disappear" in the UPS system after "signed delivery" (creating a 3 week delay for the replacement) I feel your concern. It's a roll of the dice.

The punch line is I had it delivered to an actual UPS store, where my business keeps a mailbox. Obviously stolen by the driver or (less likely) the store staff.

Apple had my back, it cost me nothing but time, but yes, I get it.

Got in after 20 minutes of the website and Apple Store app failing nonstop. It's typical for Apple to have a 5-minute plus lag for the store to open but today's day was a mess.

I agree that it is a convenience for those who do live close enough to one. I myself am driving 45 minutes to pick mine up Friday afternoon because, unfortunately, my carrier has a weird restriction on shipping only to my billing address which I won’t be back at for a few months.

I set mine up days ago but at store open time neither my iPad, iPhone, or laptop would connect to the store to complete my order. Then when I finally got it and able to try and check out Apple Pay kept giving me error messages.
