iPhone 15 Pro Rumored to Feature Ultra-Thin Curved Bezels

NO!!! The flat design is perfect. I can actually hold it! Do not go back to soap bar shaped phones PLEASE

I feel like this is almost a ploy to get people to purchase an iPhone 14 now so they don't have to deal with one of these in a year...200 IQ play and honestly has me considering an upgrade sooner that I expected lol

I’d pay to see a drawing of what you think the design will look like based on the rumors lol.

Curved bezels huh? Into a flat side huh? So basically you believe that the front and back glass will have the 2.5D beveled bezels like on the iPhone X-11, and that will go straight into a flat squared off side instead of the seamless rounding of the iPhone X-11.

Basically you think that the metal sides will be completely flat but only the glass will curve. I’d pay to see you draw that.

This rumor compares it to the Apple Watch Series 8; you know that has rounded sides right?

How much? I have my Apple Pencil at the ready now

People constantly and perpetually touch the back of phones, it’s why everyone cried about smudges. Hehe

Unfortunately the smooth glass back was astronomically more grippy than the garbage hideous matte backs.
I agree about the matte glass back. But while I do touch the back of the phone sometimes most contact is with the edges. I think there are more variations than you might expect.

I think people are over reacting a bit, if anything it will look more like the iPhone 5 with the edges curved but the display is still flat flat

I meant the glass not the frame. Frame will be similar/same as 14 pro
the Glass screen in 5 and 5s are surrounded by a plastic frame as shown in the photo. Base on what has been leaked about the 15 pro, seems like there won't be a plastic frame around the glass screen and instead it will be curved but the screen itself is still flat

My bet is we're going to see a silhouette and design similar to the Apple Silicon MacBook Pros. It won't have entirely flat edges like iPhone 5 and it won't be a pill shape like iPhone X through 11. It will be an asymmetrical design similar to the 3G/3GS or even the 5c. I think this is why it will be an entirely new design, I don't recall seeing an asymmetric side profile in a flagship iPhone since the 3GS almost 14 years ago.

It will be a titanium sandwich (assuming they use titanium): The top glass will be extremely flat and the screen area extends right up to where the glass starts to go curved in order to soften the transition between top glass and metal frame. This is what Shrimp means by "the display is flat but the bezels are curved" (we've already seen this on X through 11, it was called 2.5D glass). The metal frame will be almost entirely flat on the side but will feature a dramatically wider radius curve toward the back of the phone which transitions into the (also curved) back glass panel -- hence the asymmetrical design. The back will feel deliberately curved whereas the front will feel 'softened' if that makes sense (if you've handled an Apple Silicon MacBook Pro you will know what I mean).

All that to summarize what I attempted to annotate below in this image of an Apple Silicon MacBook Pro in side profile. The two green lines show where the glass panels will be and give you a rough sense of how they will be curved.

Huh. Guess I can ignore that rumor I heard about the next iPhone being round.
It seems like Apple is making their previous designs cyclical or seasonal. The rumors of the iPhone 15 sound like its going back to iPhone X, while the iPhone 12 - 14 is similar in design to iPhone 5/5s.

It's going to be cyclical, yes, but not between a round and square binary. Think about it:

Round = iPhone 2G, 6, 6S, 7, 8, X, XS, 11 Pro
Square = 4, 5, 5S, 12, 13, 14

Notice a couple phones missing? That's the secret third category:

Asymmetrical = 3G, 3GS, 5c, (and I'm betting) 15 Pro/Ultra

The latest significant Apple redesigns have all been asymmetric round/square hybrids: Apple Silicon MacBook Pros, M2 MacBook Air, and Watch Ultra (it breaks away from the pure rounded pill shape of all prior Apple Watch designs). The top/front is flat with softened edges. The bottom/back is heavily curved. Apple have been hinting at this return to asymmetry for over a year now with those products, I think the iPhone will follow suit.

Apple ripping off Samsung as usual with just enough modifications to make it seem like it isn't a full blown copy. Curved screens do look futuristic and it's immensely satisfying using gesture navigation on curved displays.
Don't know about copying something big here, yes curved displays remind me of retro futuristic if that's what some folks like. satisfying gestures, which ones? I have a phone case that has a lip on it anyways, might as well let it do the job of protecting the screen as these are mobile devices and I think more of us care more about protecting them and reducing breakage risks.

Are you ok??? You could get full glass screen protectors with the old phones that had curved screens.
My previous phone was a OnePlus 9 Pro, they had reduced the curve on it since my 7pro 'significantly', but alas I had to use thin UV light glued screen protectors if I wanted full coverage without gaps, other nuisances and I had to replace the screen protector fairly constantly (not something you want to do often with the risks associated with glue), I got an iphone in October and the screen protector is still on it, no cracks, gaps or glueing involved since I think it was some time before the LG V30, like maybe the LG G2? Or Moto E1 I can't say for sure, but I do remember screen protectors being more akin to iPhone on Android, years and years ago.

Ugh. RIP full screen glass protectors. I hope this rumor doesn’t turn out to be true.
I never use glass protector and never will. Just case. But I know people who do (because the accessory industry have to make money) but most people I know who use screen protector have never drooped their phones in their lives, have protecting case and phone insurance also and are OK with reduced display contract and added glare. Just crazy!!

My bet is we're going to see a silhouette and design similar to the Apple Silicon MacBook Pros.

I agree. Similar design language as the MacBook Pro, but with less curvature on the corners/edges. Minor curvature on the front glass to include the 'thin bezel' and still screen protector friendly. Possibly the end of rear glass for this next design cycle 15-16+? Rear glass repairs would generate a bit of income though..

Objectively untrue. A human hand is ergonomically matched with a rounded edge.

It literally doesn’t matter what you say, reality disagrees.

Next thing you’ll tell us that a square broom handle is more comfortable, a squared off steering wheel. Holding a toy block is more comfortable than holding a ball. I wonder why a bicycle’s handles are rounded and not square pegs. Hmmm
The most comfortable motorcycle grips I ever had were hexagonal. Perhaps the hexagonal phone is what we all crave! I claim patent!

I recently heard on a podcast that I can’t remember maybe cult cast, but they mentioned that an ex iPhone designer stated many years ago that Apple only uses 2 designs and will always rotate between them.

The soap bar and sandwich, we’re currently at the sandwich stage again.

I HATED the curved frame because it made iPhones wider and fat around the display which meant bigger bezels.

However flat edges are uncomfortable.

A hybrid between them would be ideal, flat sides that curve on the back like the 5C.

Either way, I expect another price increase and a camera lacking as usual.

I hope they do not go asymmetrical like that. The reason that MacBook Pro is asymmetrical is because the display housing is too thin to curve it like the bottom of the case, but the bottom of the case is obviously more comfortable for it.

My guess is that it will look like the top of that except mirrored on the back glass too, although it might have slightly more rounding into the metal.

However, the smooth rounding like the iPhone X was by far the best and the epitome of smartphone design; unfortunately we won’t get that again I’m sure.

Curving the bezels is fine. Just don't curve any portion of the screen that actually acts as a display.
ugghh... I remember holding my friends samsung Galaxy S8 Edge, and it was TERRIBLE. I held it and used it for 3 minutes and it was enough for me to decide to never hold or use that thing ever again. That crap will give you PTSD of terrible usability

Excellent! I’m ready for a design change on an iPhone. Still believe the iPhone XS was one of the best curvy designs yet. Hopefully, Apple gets inspired by it.

I have to disagree with you here.

The curve's tell a falsehood on thickness, create a much more slippery product in the hand when used naked (no case) and give a larger illusion of a wider case to display ratio. IF going round again, I hope not as bulging as the former 6/7/8/SE2-3/X/XS/11 models had.

Something about the 14 Pro models having the border around the screen seem REALLY thick compared to the 12/13 Pro models. It may just be me but still seems to stand out so much.
