Couldn't agree more, but then again it's Apple's naming convention nightmare... They put '3' in the name of the second model, for crying out loud — it was all consistently downhill from there. They did manage to level off, but now it can all go to s—t again with the addition of an 'Ultra'. Of course, it's not certain yet...
The second gen iPhone had "3" in the name because it was 3G capable, which the OG iPhone was not. And the iPhone didn't go downhill due to naming conventions. It's because Apple failed to keep up with innovation and let the slew of Android phones out like Samsung, HTC, LG, etc. widen the gap in comparisons. Apple is still years behind what Samsung and Google are doing.

I hope they are dead wrong with the 15 Pros still getting 128gb base storage, but I wouldn't be surprised if they're right too since Apple has always been stingy with storage.

8gb ram on all Pro models is good to hear. We've been on 6gb since 12 Pro, now it's a good time to switch to 8gb.

Thank you, I'm well aware of that, but that was a great stepping stone for failure, because what came next was iPhone 4, which a ton of people referred to as the "iPhone 4G", even thought it was 3G just like the iPhone 3G.

Also I never said that the iPhone went downhill — I said the naming convention is garbage. I don't see how Apple is behind android — I have a few friends that use Samsung and Pixels, in my personal opinion they are absolute trash, in their opinion — the want an iPhone, but are invested in the android ecosystem — same way that I am invested in the  ecosystem. That's really the main reason, why there is no reason to compare  to android — unless you're new to the smartphone/device world, you're not going to be too flexible. Subjectively speaking from years of experience.

The price increase for the Max seems more realistic. The periscope lens is going to add to the overall cost, therefore it’s justified. I don’t care for larger phones, so as long as the standard 15 Pro remains at $999 I’ll be happy.

Apple is objectively behind in the following categories: camera hardware, AI, digital assistant, and UI customization (like being able to put apps/shortcuts anywhere on the screen instead of the next snapped to spot) to name a few. Apple has played catch up for years with things like MMS, multiple cameras, widgets, among others. Apple has been subjectively been behind on things like a more inspired design, more access to file and folder storage like Android, etc.

Apple has always won in terms of security, stability, and device longevity. Apple reinvented the phone and then let the competition dictate features for the next decade and left its users dreaming of the day iPhone would get the latest features, which wouldn't come for years until Apple deemed they had done them "right" and not first. Some see that as a plus, some don't want to wait 4 years for features to make it to the iPhone.

I've used both platforms and each has its strengths and weaknesses. Ecosystems are also not that big of a deal anymore. You can use an Android in a Mac world just fine with everything being cloud-based these days. It's really not that big of a deal. Is it as seamless? No. But it's certainly possible without being crippled by lack of connectivity.

For the record, my whole life runs on the Apple ecosystem, but let's be honest about Apple's shortcomings, because there are many.

Well, as you said — Apple reinvented the phone. And think back to the first android that followed the release of the iPhone — it was an absolute carbon copy of iOS. It's really nice when someone creates something for you, then you rip it off — you can even add some nice things to it, that the product you stole didn't have, 'cause otherwise, well — you'd be only stealing...

There is no reason to argue about this, as it's really about habit and convenience — personally, I don't buy any home device that isn't HomeKit compatible. Only exception is my vacuum, as there really is no reason for me to have it in the Home app, not the way I use it, at least. But everything else comes from the few brands that make HomeKit compatible devices. Could I control them without 's Home, using native apps? Sure, but why would I subject myself to this?)

I hope this is true as this will be hilarious after so many people here have been celebrating the price hike and justifying it by telling us we’re getting more storage in the price lol.
It wouldn’t even be a bonus. It would be the same price as upping the storage on the 14 Pro. Now if it had a $50 price increase for more storage that would be a different story.

It is all relative. I have 32GB ipad and it is totally empty - i use 0 memory cause i stream. Then lets make 16gb ipads?

On my phone, the US map with hiking trails alone takes up to 10gb + my music gallery would be another 10gb + 10gb tv shows and some games. That is not talking about photo/videos. Also ssd memory drops in speed if used more than 50-75% - so if you have 128GB then you have real usable space of 64GB.
Streaming is not 100% guaranteed :(

So the standard iPhone, pro and ultra.

so the pro is the middle model now and only normal sized pro just can’t get the good camera without the size difference. Seems like a bad move to me

It’s not so bad for those of us that don’t need the greatest device, but it does seem to be a premium will be charged for something that is no longer the smaller version of the best iPhone. Typical Apple though I’d say. It would certainly challenge the mindset of certain individuals who have to have the latest and greatest device the flash while they sit in Starbucks and Apple want them to have that dilemma. They are hoping it will force them over to the shockingly more expensive and big Pro Max/Ultra.

Having both is better, but if I'd have to pick one then yeah I'd rather have 128gb base if it means getting 8gb ram.
Absolutely, because one CAN bye higher storage options - I will go for 512 Gb propably. However, if they would have stayed at 6 Gb RAM you won't have an option. And to be honest, the 2 TB option for like 2500 € here in Germany would have been an absolute niche device in any case.

Sadly he's having the last laugh. A lot of the time the upgraded storage does run faster, including inside of Mx Macs. They'll give the higher storage tiers faster access/bandwidth.

I’d imagine is barely noticeable in real term use though. Buying a 2 grand phone for the main reason of it being faster has to be pretty nonsensical, let’s face it.

And next year it will be faster LPDDR5X. I’m surprised Apple didn’t do that this year (or maybe I’m not).
