Apple saves a couple of dollars per unit by not going 128 -> 256GB, which is literally all that counts in the corporate world with shareholders. Gives a couple of hundred of millions extra in yearly profit.
I guess you’ll have to wait for the 16 Pro/Pro Max?
M-Disk do 100+ years. I use them not as backup but for archival purposes.Optical disks aren’t a reliable backup solution. They don’t last for many years.
They may be. It may be called Ultra after all.So having the smaller pro at 1000$ isnt getting the upgraded camera.
why is it even considered the pro then?
might as well just call the max something new then if they are separating both pro devices now.
The storage price jumps from the base are so ridiculous, especially compared to the actual cost, that in effect this is what they accomplish for most people. What if they remove all storage and force you to use ONLY icloud.
Yes exactly. The whole business of apple is making you dependent on them for every small thing. The storage price jumps from the base are so ridiculous, especially compared to the actual cost, that in effect this is what they accomplish for most people.
No music on the phone - pay for Apple Music!
No photos and videos on the phone - pay for iCloud and Apple TV+!
Much better for them to hook you with a monthly payment they can raise at will. With the added benefit that once your stuff is in iCloud, you're stuck with them.
I’m gonna be able to take such lovely pictures of all my cats in funny poses and outfits! If the camera on the Pro Max/ Ultra is as big of a deal as the leaks are saying, than I can totally see Apple bump the price just for this model.
However, if true I don’t expect increases here in Europe with the exemption of the pro max too - we got several increases in the last years.
?? i have a 12 mini completely empty and 80 gb are already gone because of apps and operating system, for the iphone 15 pro of 2023 i exepct at LEAST 256 gb, but they won't because of people like uI have an iPhone 13 with 128 GB of storage and I’m not even using half of it yet. Not sure why so much storage is needed. Do people just have hundreds of 8K videos and 48 MP RAW photos or something?
I use 39.2 GB on my iphone. I'd use more, but that stupid icloud keeps removing my downloads, but anyway, I'm happy that you have to pay for your storage needs, and not me.Not going to lie, 128gb base storage in 2023 in a flagship iPhone is a bit embarrassing...
Just curious... why not have it stored in the cloud? That's how I have mine and I'm assuming my iPhone keeps downloaded files I regularly use. When I bought my iPhone X, I went for 256 GBs. Its been 7 years now and I have gone past 160 GBs. So, 128 GB would not be enough for me. My plan is to go to 512 GB when I upgrade to the 16 Ultra next year. My iPhone is storing all my files and media from across all my Macs.
M-DISC is the longest lasting archival option. They can last thousands of years with proper storage (and storing them properly isn't all that hard, just keep them away from moisture and excessive sunlight). For simple backup though they're just inconvenient. It's best to have a backup solution that's convenient and an archival solution that will last long for storing the data you don't need frequent access to, like photos and video.Optical disks aren’t a reliable backup solution. They don’t last for many years.
Who cares. The cloud is where it’s at
It would only be seen as bad if everyone who bought the flagship model needed more than 128GB of storage. Since that isn’t the case, your statement is empty fodder. Not going to lie, 128gb base storage in 2023 in a flagship iPhone is a bit embarrassing...
I’d pay for it if they offered it. I suspect there are a lot of people on this forum who would pay for it as well, although we may not be an accurate representation of the general population. If I had to choose between which of these two would be higher I would choose RAM too. Storage is something you can at least pay extra for if you want it, with RAM that would be more difficult to market to people in a phone.
