Should just double it to 12 which would work for the next few years.

It’s always been that the years Apple has increased the ram in the iPhone, that is the phone that works best/has the least issues and performs better longer.

Remember how the iPhone 6 series was slow and was always reloading everything? And how much better the 6s was because it had double the ram? Yea I member. The 6s was also able to handle being jailbroken much much better as it had ram to spare whereas the 6 did not.

Give us 12 or give us death.

While they're at it, get rid of the 128GB option. It's just embarrassing for a $1200 "Pro" phone/camera to have such a pathetic storage capacity. IMO, all iPhone Pro models should start at 512GB, if not 1TB.
It’s more pathetic that their desktop computers only only have 256. That’s barely enough to run the computer let alone store stuff. The phone i can deal with cus most data is kept in the cloud

all these people with 500 tabs, sheesh! that's insane lol. Isn't it better to just use bookmarks since at least those are searchable...
For my wife, I think she just likes to look at lots of stuff. She hasn't said about being full since I showed her how to clear them all.

I can do ok with 256, but there's no way I could even do 128 without massive inconvenience of uninstalling/installing. But next time I would probably want 16/512 with the 16 being the priority.

My Mac at work has 512 and i really don’t store much of anything on it cus we work off a server but just using photoshop on large files it will tell me my scratch disc is full at times…. And i have 40 gigs of RAM. At least 400 gigs of ram are filled by my operating system, apps, adobe stuff and a few random files. At home im using a 4TB external SSD

I'm really excited for the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or Ultra), much more than I was last year or the year before around the same time. Titanium, new design, USB-C... Finally an iPhone that worth waiting for.
It will look exactly the same and have a non industry leading camera. A disgusting dynamic island and a fancy new bezel material with a $100-300 premium. A smaller notch would have made sense with progression. The “ island “ makes watching videos on this device terrible. If I could turn the “ dynamic island “ off I would. I would be completely content with two small cutouts, but it’s a massive eyesore , like a festering mole on someone’s forehead.
The USBC is wave over due. I think I’ve purchased my last iPhone. The 14PM I own is laggy, has a terrible camera. The pictures it takes are smudgy and over processed. The phone gets incredibly warm. It’s heavy as sin ( and has no reason to be ) and literally can’t last all day without a battery backup. Ive owned 8 iPhones. And this may be my last. The iPhone X was were the greatness in these devices ended. It feels like we’re walking backwards.

Excellent news. Now please increase the base RAM on M3 Macs to 16 gigabytes.
FFS. Can we give this a rest?
How exactly does it affect YOUR life if other people choose to buy less RAM?

There's something utterly pathological about this ongoing demand, this belief that you, a single individual, are the best person to decide on a technical issue for everyone else in the world, in spit of knowing nothing of their circumstances.

Well, yeah.... lol.

I haven't noticed my 12 Pro Max slowing down any but I'll always welcome more RAM.

Not quite sure yet if I'll bother upgrading to the 15 Pro Max/Ultra. My 12 PM hasn't given me any reason to get rid of yet.
I'm also using a 12 PM with 6 GB Ram and I have around 45 apps constantly open, and I have never experienced any hickups or memory loss when switching between apps.
(No games open, only apps)
So I don't actually know what the extra 2 Gb Ram will do?

Maybe if you editing 4k video or images?🙂

My beauty and the beast phone will serve me many years to come😊

I welcome this, but Apple has been a dick about Ram and Storage for way to many years now.

The Ipad Pro, Mac mini and Macbook air base Ram and Storage is a joke. And the prices they take for upgrading just doesn`t make sence. How can it cost 1000usd to upgrade from 8GB to get to 16GB of ram on the Ipad!? (Yes I know you also go from 256GB storage to 1TB)
At this point it probably cost more to manufacture the 8GB ramd and 256GB of storage than the 16GB of ram and 1TB.
The last one should be the base model.
This is just to trick people in to the staircase pricing model. Get people in on the low price but crap specs. Then they will take a step by step up because if they only pay a few more 100dollars for each step they will get what they really want and think they need.

I also welcome 3nm chip and a better battery chemistry. What happen to the battery revolution? Where are all the solid state batteries and carbon nano tubes Buzz?
I want a battery I can rapid charge from 0-100% in 15 minutes and do so 100 000s of times without the battery getting worse :p
I am a heavy user and already before a year has past I can experience the battery getting worse :S Now I charge my Iphone 12 Pro 2-3 times a day.

it means more people can get by with the base model and for those who need it, don’t have to spend a whopping $200 to just go from 8 to 16. plus the machine remains usable for longer.

not everyone upgrades every year. some of us keep our stuff for 5 to 10 years.

as an aside, in the PC world, i can add 32gb 3200mhz ram for less than $100. apple charged $200 in the intel imac for an extra 8gb of 2666 mhz ram.

i always bought third party RAM for my intel imacs. Unfortunately now they’ve found a way to force us to pay their insane rates.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max continues to fly on by after 2 years of use. My wife’s 12 mini is working well too but battery isn’t as good obviously. We like to keep our phones as long as we can, but I’m curious to see what overall improvements we will get with the 15. But this phone has performed incredibly well with 6 GB of ram.

I find these iPhones are so damn good now you can make them last for years unless you just want the latest which is fine too.

It doesn’t, but it’s weird how defensive you are of Apple still offering the same base RAM after 9 years. 8GB is nice, until you go to edit only TWO 4K HEVC camera angles in Final Cut or iMovie and the system falls to its knees. Editing on iPhone would be fine, but apps usually lack manual zoom (ie ken burns) for video. It’s hardly pathological to want your Mac with all its extra tools to be able to handle the workload of your similar priced $999+ phone.
