I just pre-ordered the iPhone 16 Pro Max 512GB in White Titanium and was surprised to secure a pickup in store for September 20th, even though the pre-order has been open for a few hours! This is for a store on the East Coast, USA.

Maybe no one wants White Titanium?

What fascinates me about comments such as this is the lack of realization that your current phone is so good, still, that you simply don't need to upgrade. The fact that you aren't motivated shows how good Apple products are (as you say, but don't seem to realize.)
True. Same for the other big smart phones. Sure they each have some minor unique features but they basically slowly evolve. Really the only thing deciding which brand of phone is what software and ecosystem you prefer. As far as something really truly new I'm waiting for some truly useful, wear all the time, lightweight smart glasses -- may be a few or several years off.
I do get an itch for something new and cool each year but that's often something completely different than a phone.

Ordered a Pro 256GB in Desert Titanium 4 hours after preorder started. Still getting it on launch day.

Hurry! Quick! Buy now!

If you don't get one soon, we may run out and you won't be able to get one at all!

Don't worry about price or overpaying, it's critical you just GET THAT ORDER IN!!!

That’s my thought. I ordered White as well. I imagine a large chunk of the demand is for Desert.

Jumping from a 12 mini to a Pro Max 😳 hoping to get decent battery life again, even though I'll sorely miss the small form factor. I personally look forward to having crash detection and satellite connectivity, for someone who spends a lot of time in remote areas that can be life saving features. The rest is just nice to have, I guess.

Verizon worked so well this morning. It opened 7:58 AM and I was checked out and finished 7:59 AM. 16 Pro in Black Titanium coming 20th

I remember reading somewhere that deliver and logistics only have some much capacity so regardless of available stock, they have to stagger getting them out the door to be delivered.

Of course, because of inflation since 2021, the new iPhone 16 Pro costs 16.2% less than the 13 Pro cost upon its release. So the new iphone 16 pro actually costs $161.58 less than did the 13 Pro.

But sure, Apple is just greedy and trying to manipulate the masses who don't know how to make their own buying decisions.

On Verizon's site at 8am and was able to upgrade to 16 Pro Max 512gb for launch date.

Only hiccup was even though I had paid off 58% and said I could still upgrade,
It still made me pay off my phone in full.

Typical Apple fabricated demand to create FOMO!

For the past few years, I have been able to walk into an Apple B&M on day 1 and get whatever color/storage/size I wanted. And, this is in one of the most populated cities ( Dallas, TX ).

Japanese Online Store. Ordered 2 minutes after it went online again and was immediately presented with a late October window. I ordered nevertheless. 2 hours later, the window for a new order shows mid October. My own order is still not even processing yet. What am I missing here?

This happened to me last year, except only after a few hours after preorder launch. if you don’t catch the initial shipment you have wait for your from the cargo ship (a month or month and a half later). That’s Apple saving the planet one iPhone at a time.

I couldn't get in for about 15-20 mins after pre-orders started (and had my pre-order, pre-ordered LOL).... 16 PM in white not getting here till October 2nd-7th.

I used to be a "gotta have the next iPhone no matter what" person since the beginning. That all changed once I realized the minimal upgrades between the phones from year to year wasn't worth me making payments to Apple. Yes, the payments are always 0% but still. That being that, I'm still sporting my 13 Pro Max which still looks and works like it was new. It feels nice knowing I'm keeping more of my money and giving Apple much less of it. lol
And that's fine, but at the same time don't lump everyone into the same category. There are some of us who find certain features to be things we really want and are willing to pay for.

For example, I had a similar conversation with someone when the Always On Display came out with the the 14 and they were mocking everyone who considered upgrading. That has been such a wonderful feature for me, which which I'd been waiting so long. Similarly there are folks who will see something in the 16 that they really want, and they'll upgrade from a 15.

Or, people in multi-phone households like mine are different too - when I get a new phone, my wife gets my old one, our oldest gets hers, and my poor daughter gets my son's (luckily everyone really looks after their things well!!) So again, we tend to upgrade nearly annually and I'm the one who most loves gadgets, so I get to enjoy a new phone.

I wish everyone would just worry about themselves, their own needs and wants, and stop opining on everyone else's decisions.

I am upgrading from a 12 pro max to a black titanium 1 tb 16 pro max. I pre ordered by 5:05 and got Oct 2 as the delivery date :( I live in the US. I guess its due to my config.

I suspect it will come before that date. Apple is usually conservative about the delivery dates. This happened with my M1 Max too.

Same story with shipping dates "slipping" as every year. And then unexpectedly a truck full of iPhones arrives at the Apple Store for pickup every day after launch. Buhaha.

I'm not sure if I will buy one this year. To get a better deal I'll wait for a couple of weeks. Prices tend to go down quite quickly after launch, especially towards Christmas.

It might be lies but I will just go to my local store early and grab a 256 Black 16 PM
I hate staying in lines but I have no choice I have to have it on September 20

Annoyed... Went in at exactly 6:00am MDT and waiting about 5 minutes (presumably in line) and finalized the preorder. The confirmation was 6:14am MDT with an October 2nd ship date. This is the first year I just paid for it outright instead of Apple Upgrade. Apparently I'm being punished by 12 days for paying upfront. (ya, I know it's a first world problem and it's not the end of the world, but it's just highly suspect based on talking to others in my area that did Apple Upgrade by 15 or 20 minutes later than me and they're getting in on Sept. 20th.)
