"Apple intelligence will obviously need 8gb ram".. oh of course, it will :)

LMAO until some hacker shows it working just fine with 2gb ram on an old iPhone and all the upgraders are left dumb founded at their $2k they just blew on an upgrade.

I think Apple coming out with a new premium option is maybe their best bet for more sales. Apple has struggled with the "fourth option" in their iPhone lineup. As much as this board loves the Mini, it was the least popular phone in the lineup, and the Plus, created to replace it, is also currently the poorest-selling. As I've said before, the Pros are popular, and the base model is popular since it is the cheapest, but it's difficult for there to be a compelling fourth option. One thing's for sure, people like having the most expensive flagship model. So redefining what the "flagship" is seems like it could be a winning strategy for them.
They gave up on the mini too soon. They needed to find a way to give it more features and capabilities. I love the size but it lacks capabilities. If they were to find a way to make it current and keep the size they might be on to something

I'll never understand Apple's obsession with thinner. Personally, I like having something substantial to hold in my hand. I even like the heavyness of my 14 Pro Max. I won't be getting the Slim.
It’s been a while since Apple was making all of their devices thin while compromising features. Since then, they have been adding features back in and making some devices thicker. For the phones, that also means heavier. There does seem to be a part of the customer base who wants a thinner and particularly, lighter phone. Apple seems to be willing to experiment to see if that is a large enough market to sustain a phone model, just as they experimented with the mini and the base max. As long as they continue to offer the full-featured products, too, I wouldn’t worry about an obsession.

I had a dream about the iPhone 13 mini last night after I dropped my iPhone 15 PM earlier in the day.

I woke up in a cold sweat looking at the prices on swappa.

I didn't buy one (yet).

When you hold an iPhone 5 or 6 now it's shocking how thin and light they are. New ones with the glass back are so heavy and thick.
I think this will be an introduction to a new form factor, while keeping the line regular for one more year, like they did with iPhone X.

just like Durex, I always use cell phone cases for protection and the thiner the better feeling on your skin (finger tips). So I am intrigued if the rumors are true.

Just my opinion. Look at Samsung and other manufacturers, their flip phones didn’t do well the first couple years. However, they are gaining sales. They didn’t give up on it they continue improving the design, features, and capabilities. I wish Apple would have done the same with the mini. Maybe the SE will take that place🤷🏾‍♂️. I’m going pro models all the way from here until Apple releases a decent flip phone.

The 17 series is looking more interesting than the 16 series with the rumoured bigger design overhaul. The 17 slim or whatever they call it will likely be an upgrade to my 15PM. Long way away though!

You know the next iPhone is meh if folks have already moved on to the current+2 model.

That's why I don't like the current SE. The rounded edges aren't as easy to grip. I do want a new iPhone the size of the SE though.

Lol imagine having to take your watch off several times a day to charge it 🤣
Yeah, I wasn't super impressed with battery life of my regular-ass Apple Watch (Five, IIRC), which I also found gutlessly boring to wear. The Apple Watch Ultra renewed my interest, and as I said, the AWP CAN run an RCH over 48 hours on a full charge. But one can't always tell which 48 them's gonna be. Eat when you can. Sleep when you can. Always Be Charging. On the other hand, some work happens where we can't use personal electronics of any kind, so the AWP sits on a charger for days, while I wear "Non-Device" mechanicals that collect and repair.

It would be interesting to see if the 17 will be the phone counterpart to the AWP, as some have suggested, the iPhone Ultra. Thinness, by itself, wouldn't be enough to Ultrify it. I would LOVE a flipper, but I don't believe Apple would tolerate the liabilities of folding glass screens as we currently know them. Apple would have to leapfrog that reliability factor.

I'd like a three-small-screen iPhone flip, hinge in the middle, one display panel on the outside. Imagine the Motorola Razr, split screen inside instead its struggle to fold glass. No reason they couldn't make that IP56, at least. I never watch wide-screen media on a phone. And I certainly don't mind dividing work across multiple separate displays, running two systems with three 27's each all day; my desk is like the bridge of the friggin Enterprise. And I don't depend on cameras in a phone either; cameras are nice-to-have and I respect the effort, but I prefer grownup cameras. I think Apple wasted resources on Face-ID, when the MacBooks don't have it; super-pissed not to have Touch-ID during the Masking Years. Wife with iPhone SE gloated constantly - said solution was to put my credit cards in HER AppleWallet... like **** no.

I’d wish a new Mini would be even smaller than the current one. The 13 Mini is already a bit too big for my liking. I think the SE 1st gen has been the perfect size for a smartphone.

I don’t agree with the size. I actually think it’s perfect. The main issue I have is that it feels like it’s lacking. If they continued with the mini and gave it a 120hz screen and a bigger battery I think that would go a long way to increase sales. Sometimes my wife and I will be sitting in the same spot and she will have service and I won’t. Also she can send me messages and I won’t receive them and vice versa. It feels like for some reason the phone lacks something. Based on the network specs it has the same capabilities as a 13 and 14 but in real world use I have issues.
