iPhone 2.0 Firmware (5A347) Available Early

I just decided to try this on my iPod Touch and it failed miserably don't even attempt it. I now have to restore my iPod.
if you would have read the thread you would have knew this....
I just went to prefs in 7.7 and checked the applications checkbox to have it show up
Have you retried the upgrade using the option key again through itunes? Or redownload it and try from the new copy. Maybe the download is corrupt etc. Should be 225 meg. Someone earlier said there initial downlaod had tied out and left them with a bit of a malfunction.
My iphone was a locked and non-jailbroken phone from Nov 07 and it updated without any problems.
do a search in the store for apple - it'll list an application. download it and then you'll have a new item on the right side of itunes - click on that then there is a link within that window to view all apps.
Everything will be restored back to your iPhone once you install 2.0, this includes sms.

I just followed the instructions but no prompt to backup.
It just started installing. By which time I was too scared to pull the plug incase it bricked my iPhone.
Process almost complete. I've just lost everything on my phone. Most importantly all my contacts

i guess cause the app setup is a bit different. no phone and other stuff that isn't included in the iphone update.
I know most iPhones are NOT unlocked.
So how come every discussion here turns into a discussion about unlocking phones or what will happen to unlocked phones.
Makes me wish there was a separate forum for people with unlocked phones so they can discuss this to their heart's content. To be honest I don't care about unlocked phones or what happens to them, and it drowns out every single relevant conversation to the actual phone itself.

2.0 Working
I clicked the link, located the file AS it was downloading and changed the name of it as instructed (If you don't, it saves it as a .zip, and you can't access the files).
After about 30 min of installing and loading everything back on to my iPhone, the 2.0 is working fine. Not sure if Push is working for me though, still can't access my mac email from me.com
