iPhone 2.0 Firmware (5A347) Available Early

WTF.
I just followed the instructions but no prompt to backup.
It just started installing. By which time I was too scared to pull the plug incase it bricked my iPhone.
Process almost complete. I've just lost everything on my phone. Most importantly all my contacts
Umm Correct me if i am wrong (i havent updated yet) but the backup is just in case you need revert back?...i thought it wipes the phone, applies the update and than you connect your phone again and resync from before you applied the update? I thought it was just like the ten gaz-zillion times i toasted my phone from hacking it...you can just resync it?

I'm in this situation too. I get error 20. iPhone that won't get out of DFU mode too. I'm screwed.
this was very rude for people that are here waiting for some news on jailbreaking and using the phone without being locked to a specific carrier. this thread is about the release of 2.0 and what people want of it. if most people here are claiming for unlock, this is what this thread is for, you can't decide that this is not the place for it because "you" don't mind about unlocking.
I got the same error when trying to update as some others, but my error code was 13 (which I gather to mean I am extra unlucky and special -- the other codes here seem to have been 5, 20, and 1403).
It seemed to brick the phone, aka it was stuck in Recovery mode. I recovered to 1.1.4 and then tried to re-update and it worked second time around.
I have the 4GB model and am wondering if it was a space issue. I had only about 100MB free. Now after the restore (unfortunately lost all my music/videos -- all I sync at work are contacts/calendar) there is a lot more "other" space occupied -- 201.5MB -- in iTunes than there used to be, which is why I'm thinking it failed first time around for lack of space.

Netter's Anatomy for $39.99 is reasonable. That should come in handy at work.

I had a 1.1.4 Ziphone, and I did a restore to original 1.1.4.
Now, when I Shift + Click and select the ipsw file, after it "Extracts" the software, I get an error code 5.
Is anyone else getting this error?
I am stuck on the "Connect to iTunes" screen.

Same with me. I figure it is because I have push contact/email/calendar turned on and MobileMe isn't working yet.
Exchange Works Great!
I was able to test 2.0 software with the exchange at our corporate office and the push works extremely well. The push is as fast as mobile 6 and the full email support and calendar in the iphone make mobile 6 look bad.

You would think with all of this going on that they'd just release the firmware.
I have a question...I am at work - I can do the update here...I don't care if I lose my music and I have MOST of my pictures backed up...but will the backup it does include all of my phonebooks and all that?
What if I sync my phone here first...can I sync all of my stuff to 2 computers like that?
Or I could just wait 5 hours...or can I.....haha

Is your address book on your computer empty too? Did it sync them blank?
Try rebooting your computer. When mine went bonkers it did something to the USB ports on my Macbook and I was in a simaler situation. Worth a shot anyway.
