Success

I downloaded and installed this file with no problems at all on my old iPhone. I have already downloaded 8 apps, 6 free and paid for 2 games. Everything works flawlessly. SuperMonkeyBall is fantastic.

You can actually purchase apps from the phone. The new contact search is a God send. It's on!

Worked for me. Now just putting my content back on.

EDIT: typing is a bit choppy and browser is a bit sluggish.

It Works Great!

This install is simple and you don't lose any contents on your iPhone. You simply select restore once it completes the process. Running Applications normally.

The iTunes Remote App is great! You're going to enjoy that one on your iPhone or iTouch.

No harm done!

Does the new 2.0 firmware allow for more than 9 Home Screens?

There is official access to the App Store...go to itunes store, then click on App Store on the left (where movies and TV shows are etc)

If you CAN'T access the App store directly from the menu...

The easiest way is to click this link to the top applications https://www.macrumors.com/c.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fphobos.apple.com%2FWebObjects%2FMZStore.woa%2Fwa%2FviewTop%3Fid%3D25204%26popId%3D30&t=1215709801 and then click "App Store" in the top of that window.

If this link doesn't work, you can go to powersearch and choose Applications from the drop down box and then search for AOL (or something else you know exists). Click on the application, and you can then backtrack to the application store from the top of the itunes store window.

OK I need ideas..

Trying to update from work on a XP PC.

Downloaded itunes 7.7 installed it.

Downloaded 2.0 update from link.

Shift click to update and selected file.

5 mins into update errored out with code "1603"

Restored and backed up phone to 1.14 software.. all back to normal.

Re-downloaded update, restarted itunes, restarted phone, error 1603 again.

I have done this three times now with the same results. Any thoughts...

Once again, digging through Apple's XML files has revealed the url to the iPhone 2.0 Firmware that is presently available on Apple's servers. The firmware image has a filename of:

iPhone1,2_2.0_5A347_Restore.ipsw (download link)

This build is slightly higher than the one of the latest iPhone Firmware Beta (5A345) which was also spotted on shipping iPhone 3Gs. Despite the filename appearing in the XML file, the actual firmware has not yet been released officially. As well, the firmware carriers a "1,2" designation while all previous firmwares, including the beta firmwares carried a "1,1" number.

Apple has posted an updated guide about firmware upgrades and warns:In order to install the firmware, you will have to do it manually by pressing the Option key when pressing the "Check for Update" button in iTunes.

We expect the firmware to be officially released shortly and will appear in your iTunes software update. If you don't wish to wait, you can use this method, but should proceed with caution.

did you get that from hackintosh? :p

Has anyone else tried to setup and sync with an Exchange server. For some reason contacts are not syncing unless I make a change to the contact then it will sync that contact. Existing contacts do not sync. Calendar and mail are syncing fine ??

All contacts synced fine here (Exchange 2003/sp2).

Except that the 2.0 s/w on the EDGE iPhone can make you want 3G. The apps that rely on an Internet connection are pretty slow w/ EDGE. I wasn't planning on upgrading but after using 2.0 now for just a few minutes I realize I might have to or go nuts. So releasing 2.0 early could be a clever little trojan horse to get convince the EDGE iPhone holdouts to go ahead an upgrade. I won't be doing it tomorrow, but possible sooner rather than later.

Which could be what Apple is going for, except some of us don't have 3G service where we live nor where we work. So upgrading is kinda pointless until that is fixed.. :(

tested out remote wipe...worked nice..took like 10 minutes, but worked...

strange that it took so long, even though the device was already freshly wiped....

mutliple contacts and calendar with mobileme

while it looks like you can only have one exchange account i just added my .mac account and i was give the option of syncing calendar and contacts from my .mac. As a result I ended up with 2 calendars and 2 contacts. .mac and exchange.
I wonder if we can have multiple mobileme accounts and sync them with exchange and hence have multiple calendars/contacts ?

wow - that's crazy! were you running on t-mobile or something? i don't see why it would matter if it was a different sim card as long as it was still under at&t

clearly he wasn't using it on AT&T. if he was using it on AT&T, he'd have an AT&T SIM in the iPhone.

Error code (1)

Hey guys,

I had a 1.1.4 ZiPhone Jailbroken phone (not unlocked...some people don't seen to know the difference) and I downloaded the new firmware. It automatically unzipped so I rezipped it, renamed to .ipsw and now I have "iPhone1,2_2.ipsw" that is 225 mb as it should be. Then I tried to install it on my jailbroken phone, no success. I restored to a jailed 1.1.4 and tried again. Now I get "This iPhone could not be restored error code (1)".

Any ideas?

Mail app not working now....

Upgraded successfully, installed apps, etc.....everything seemed fine....but then. Went to open email and it just crashes. Restored again, same thing. Reset all settings, same.

Anyone else experience this??
