Just been to this page and it gives an option to 'add iPhone services to your PAYG SIM card'

I've just done it, just waiting for them to be activated now, however, it doesn't say what it actually is.

Does this mean us PAYG'ers might finally get full EDGE speeds?

What about those that are given an iPhone who are on a Simplicity contract ;)

Are they happily going to support those? Maybe this means that they could finally relax the rules since no matter what people will be using o2.

hey guys, first time post on these boards and unfortunately its not a good one.

I was downloading the firmware about an hour ago. It was restoring my iphone when my cable came undone and sent my iphone into recovery mode.

I'm stuck on recovery mode and I can't get it out. It redownloaded the last firmware (1.14 i thinK?) but it says that I have to restore it. I click restore, and it begins restoring and updating. It then says extracting software, it comppletes, then I get an error 20 message.

Can I please get some help ASAP? I need my phone for business and such. If anyone can help me, please let me know. I'm terrified that I bricked it or something.

No problems. So when someone posts the fix you'll never post here again ? No chance mate. Go bother someone else.

Or you know, maybe it was because I found this forum on accident while looking for help.

If you can help me out, great. If not, bugger off. I don't mind this forum one bit, but I guess you get the idiots everywhere right?

I'm sure you'll figure it out - but here's a tip for you if you need your phone for 'business and such' why on earth did you try updating it with an unofficial update?

Even when the official one comes out I'd wait to here the reports if you really need your phone ;)

Not good enough.

With the MobileMe outage this whole thing has been a fiasco. What kind of moron puts up the app store and then won't put up the software so people can use the apps?

You'd think the monkey from Super Monkey Ball was organizing this rubbish.

And yet they have favorites and top 25, with ratings and everything...

How's that possible when no one actually reviewed it?

Stttrrrraaaaange!

And my business trip features a trip to the moon, so I held off upgrading my 1.1.4 iphone -> working phones seem to impress the ladies a whole lot more than non working ones.

While you're at the beach and being snubbed by the ladies, why not check out:

There's plenty of people on there who have done very similar things...

Yes, I imagine it'll just change the APN. Although the link suggests that once done the SIM won't work in a non-iPhone until the change is reversed, so I've not updated mine yet. Please let us know what happens when O2 get round to updating yours (they're pretty busy at the moment dealing with disgruntled would-be iPhone 3G purchasers!).

Ah, a Selby lad. Was there t'other week. Not much had changed since I lived there ;)

OK, ok, children. Stop getting at each other. Lighningboot - welcome. Let's hope you choose to stay here after you've fixed your problem. Who knows, maybe your fix might help someone else?

But I must say, what has your business trip with lots of women got to do with fixing your phone? That probably isn't the kind of thing to say to win over any potential helpers

Anyway, I'd say get your phone in DFU mode. http://sleepers.net/news/?page_id=13 It's a special low-level mode that lets you completely restore your phone if the worse happens. After that, download the 2.0 firmware (there are links in this thread, and elsewhere) and do an option(alt)+restore in iTunes when it detects you've plugged in a phone in DFU mode.

There are two types of 'recovery' modes AFAIK: you've got one with the little itunes icon your phone telling you to plug it in, and one with a blank screen. The one with the blank screen is the one you probably want in this case, as it is more low-level, and seems to put the phone in more of a restorable state.

Hope that helps.

Woot. Finally!

Just clicked "check for update" and it says 2.0 is available. Downloading now!
