In the iPod App, and you are playing a song, tapping to bring up the progress bar also automatically displays the lyrics, instead of a double-tap bring it up. The double-tap now takes you to the album that song is part of.

I'm quite sure it was always like that. If I tapped once then the progress bar and lyrics would show up. And is their any conclusive info on why only some people get the AM/PM on "Slide to Unlock" screen. I did a clean install, but I don't have it.

I know that it has been stated that there is only one speaker (on the left) and the mic is on the right but I saw some one post that sound appears to be coming from both now and I tried it and it seems that way to me too. Is it an illusion?

I'll rephrase it. If you send a photograph containing EXIF data (such as geotag infomation) to Flickr via the e-mail method, the EXIF data remains. Previously, I think the EXIF data was removed before emailing. Not sure though. I've just reported it.

Yes in previous versions of the iPhone firmware, the image processor would strip ALL exif data from the resized pictures(not even camera type would remain) that the mail app uses for example.

so when uploading to flickr, you would get the image, but no information on it.

Now as people upgrade to 2.1, I am sure that flickr stats will show a surge in iPhone pictures being uploaded.

For me that's the biggest part of the 2.1 upgrade. When I travel, I would like to keep a geotagged record of all the images I upload and put them on a map.

If this works with the wordpress app, i'm in heaven.

AM/PM Indicator in Home Screen/Locked Screen

If you are a US Iphone user and want to get the AM/PM Time Indicator onto your locked screen the way to do it to go to:

General Settings > International > Set Region Format to United Kingdom

Then go to:

General Settings > Date and Time > Set 24-hour time to OFF

AM/PM indicator

You can now display AM/PM on the lock screen, if you're using the 12-hour clock.

Note: This function, for some reason, does not appear on everyones phones. Some 'upgraded' phones show the AM/PM indicator when set to 12-hour, but some don't. However, most 'clean installs' of 2.1 will show the AM/PM indicator.

I believe this is new in 2.1:

In 2.0.2, settings would take a few seconds to open -- now it's immediate but third party applications settings are loaded afterwards.

Wouldn't that mean you'd have the wrong time zone setting ?

Great post, was really hoping for landscape texting. O well, can't always have what you want.

So was I!! Landscape for everything actually!
I don't like the new location services options for maps. It's a hassle now to change the settings and then retur. To what u were doing. I hope it's just maps and not apps too.
Also I thought the SMS preview on/off was already there priorr to this update.

Ohhh I found another hidden feature. When I play a song using the ipod app while wearing headphones...if I hit one of up volume control on the left side of the phone, I can no longer hear my spouse b_itching at me from the other room. Thanks apple !!!

I don't know if this was pointed out already, but the passcode times changed dramatically. It used to be a max of 4 minutes if I remember correctly, but now it's up to 4 hours!

No the phone number was there before. However, the search icon appears in the vertical letter list as well, presumably so you could up to the search box right away if you needed to.

Since the betas of 2.0 it was there. it was our first clue that contact search was a new feature when 2.0 came out.

Justinomg, you say that the SMS preview on/off is a new feature, but it is NOT it has been there the whole time. What is new, is that when its OFF it will now not show the name of the person who sent it, which before it would
