If anyone here is familiar with Apple. Apple doesn't like to clutter up their products with a ton of options and choices. They're ease of use and small learning curves. So your BlackBerry can do everything... so what... It seems like BlackBerries are for the people who like to tinker and love customizing their own experience down to the littlest things while the iPhone is more for the people who trust that the iPhone will give them a better more-friendly user experience. If you start cluttering up the iPhone with a million-and-a-half options, then there goes the ease of use and then it won't FEEL like an Apple product anymore. Mac OS X is the same way... not a whole mess load of options. The iPod is like that too... it's the Apple way. They just focus more on giving you the simplest yet, most effective user experience.

I agree with that. However, my Mac is feature-rich, and I don't feel I'm missing anything compared to using Windoze. I do, though, feel I'm missing stuff with the iPhone (MMS in particular).

There's difference between cluttering up a phone with too many options (my old Sony Ericsson was guilty of that - I don't want themes, for instance) and giving it basic features that are expected in today's market (MMS, copy and paste etc).

Great... But When is Push, MMS, Copy-Paste, and Flash
Coming To the Iphone?
It's amazing what Apple has done;
by releasing a couple features the phone should already have
people go crazy!
Its been over a year since Iphone has been on the market
and it still lacks basic features..I'm dissapointed.

So no Push Notification? Did they abandon this?

Tapping the blank spot between dock and last row of apps on the left or right swipes to the next or previous page (depending on which side you hit of course). It's slightly quicker (but not as cool :p )

That's not really a time saver and you have to be more accurate to not tap any icons on accident when you do that... so it's even more of a pain.

Feature rich or not, I'm missing my old Palm's (and its the only thing I miss about it) ability to store multiple call forwarding numbers. One for home, one for office and one for the car. Just had to select which number to use instead of typing it in each time.

I like the added features but still want to see widescreen texting and email added.

Where the hell is copy and paste??

I have never bothered to ask this the whole time I've seen people ask for this because I have never found my self needing it so far. But could you give me an example of a need for this. And I don't mean "oh, my friend txt me to google ______ and I don't wanna have to type it." Give me something other than that if you could. Thanks.

*this is a friendly request btw, I'm not being a smart@ss.

That's it. I give up.

No Copy/Paste
No MMS
No Disk Access Mode
No Sync'able to-do list

This thing's a frickin toy. Apple's got its head up its ass. So do half the gutless suckups on here, who, because they don't use their devices for more than "lolz, omg, have u seen britneys lipstick omgz rofl", can't wrap little their brains around anyone else having an actual practical use for their $600 phone.

With every update, Apple continues to ignore the basic functionality people need, to give them a bunch of cute crap no one was asking for. How they think this thing is going to sweep the Enterprise market without these basic functions... ridiculous.

I'm giving up. As of 2.2, we'll have had these functionally retarded devices for a year and a half here, and we'll be dumping them unless apple makes some progress. If the last 7 updates have been any indicator, I'm not getting my hopes up.

This is exactly why I sold my stock.

That's a bit harsh. Despite these shortcomings, I find the iPhone an indispensable tool for both my business and my personal life. There are plenty of To Do apps available that sync - I use Things. Same for disk access, if you require it. MMS I do miss a lot, while copy and paste would be useful occasionally.

Why doesn't he just jailbreak if he's so pissed about little crap like that?

As I said before, like many others: copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste, copy paste... Please.

i second this. also, mms please.

I have one request..

Give us a way to set reminders on the MobileMe web apps! Adding the appointments / events is a breeze but I'll be damned if I have to configure a reminder for EVERY ONE on the iPhone / iCal.

Kind of defeats the point of adding an appointment / event if there's no reminder. Google has had this with it's calendar for ages, it even has SMS and email reminders.. and it's free.

For those moaning about the "LOL" auto-correction.. it's an acronym for "laugh out loud" so LOL is grammatically correct ;)

As far as the keyboard correction goes, how about modifying it so it can predict words longer than the number of keys you've entered...

People sound like idiots when they use the words "lol" and "ur".

What you forget is that some people like to sound like idiots, and are willing to pay big bucks to do so. There are whole segments of the fashion industry that cater to that market segment. The iPhone is a fashion item.

.

I dont see what the big deal is about copy and paste. I have maybe once or twice in a year of owning the iPhone wanted to use such a function. I think this idea of NO COPY/PASTE????!! has just been hyped up. Now things like MMS, Video Recorder, Push Notification...thats real functionality

I want my iPhone to come with Batman, so therefore Apple is being ridiculous.

But in reality, <general amalgam of feature requests> would be cool.

...... . . . . . . . . . . . . ... .. .. . I'm a blenderrrrrrrr!

I agree, to an extent. I use a Mac Pro and MacBook Pro at home. My roommate uses the same. I love the interface, and the more refined options available as an end user of these devices. Windows, on the other hand, has so much that can be set and tweaked in the OS that it can be a pain to manage. However, more options doesn't immediately mean a difficult experience.

So your BlackBerry can do everything... so what... It seems like BlackBerries are for the people who like to tinker and love customizing their own experience down to the littlest things while the iPhone is more for the people who trust that the iPhone will give them a better more-friendly user experience.

The BlackBerry is a solid device with a good history of stability and utility. I'm not quite sure where you get the idea that BlackBerries are for people who love to tinker. Is it because it can do so much more than the iPhone? I expect that the huge number of BlackBerry devices in use in corporate environments isn't because the end user likes to tinker. Besides, as soon as the iPhone came out, people began tinkering with it. Remember? Jailbreaking anyone?

If you start cluttering up the iPhone with a million-and-a-half options, then there goes the ease of use and then it won't FEEL like an Apple product anymore. Mac OS X is the same way... not a whole mess load of options. The iPod is like that too... it's the Apple way. They just focus more on giving you the simplest yet, most effective user experience.

I think you might be missing the point. The iPhone is not yet the most effective user experience because it is missing basic functionality. Image the Mac OS missing the ability to rename files. Some (most) people would complaint about it, while others (such as yourself) would simply argue that it is obviously not needed for the most effective user experience because Apple says so.

Please... I generally think Apple does a good job. Not perfect, but not horrible. That doesn't mean that they always do a good job, though. The iPhone is still very rough, no matter how people want to spin it. I do believe it will get there, one day, but it's not there now.

Weak implementation of auto-correct switch

Putting the auto-correct on/off in the general settings is pretty weak. It should be associated with each keyboard. There are keyboards where you don't want auto-correct like typing in urls, and there are keyboards where you do want auto-correct like emails and notes. There are even times in those places where you may want to turn off the auto-correct for a sentence or two. If you have to go back to settings to switch the auto-correct, it will be a bigger annoyance than just dealing with the auto-correct itself. One quick swipe to toggle the feature right at the keyboard is what is needed.

You want MMS but without it, the need for copy and paste is pretty large, no? Even if you only need it once or twice a month, it's when you don't have it that things get ridiculous. So, when an MMS message comes in, I have to revert to pulling out a piece of paper to write down the details to log in even though I have this smart device that is supposed to make people realize "this is going to change everything." I hope by changing everything, we're talking about removing basic features of most other phones.

I would think that implementing basic features seen on most smart phone (copy and paste) and features seen on almost all basic phones/smart phones (MMS) would be on their list of things to implement fast. Alas, the complaints will continue coming for these features. Don't expect them to stop. Just because certain technologies are deemed outdated or not "high priority" by Apple does not mean that people do not want them.

Wife will LOVE auto-correct off. Constantly writing e-mails in both english and portuguese - auto-correct disrupted the efficiency of portuguese e-mails.

Would be nice if we can check off multiple dictionaries.

And I want the ability to forward contacts/vCards in an SMS (actually, I can't remember ANY recent mobile phone that didn't have this super-basic capability....). The current iPhone SDK doesn't provide an officially supported way to programmatically pre-fill an SMS with content (e.g., phone number, address,...), so there isn't even a chance for 3rd party apps to fill in this gap.

yeah........u know today my cousin asked me to forward a contact to his cell....and i told i cant :(
