Podcasts are not showing up in the ipod app after OTA download. Anyone having the same issues with this? Plus google map app is way off on its calculations. 4.5 mile in 1hour 34 minutes? I don't think so. Check below.
EDIT: Nevermind the google map mention. I stand corrected by ethos84 below. Thanks.

4.5 miles would take about 1 hour 34 minutes if walked?

Average person will take 20 minutes per mile.

YOU CAN LISTEN TO THE PODCASTS OVER THE AIR (3G) WITHOUT HAVING TO DOWNLOAD THEM FIRST ! It streams over the 3G network as you listen. If you want to download it, it saves the link and downloads the full clip next time you are on WiFi or synced ! Sweet !!! :D:D:D:D:D

I just discovered this too, very cool.

How do I use the new public transit?

How do I get walking directions and how do I get public transit directions?

need help kinda unrelated, i downloaded 2.2 and when I hit the update button on itunes it tells me there's no internet connection that i should fisrt connect to the internet in order to update BUT i'm already connected as I am typing this online now thru the very same connection why does i tunes not reconize that i am online, happens with the album art too....running windows xp i know its my computer but what is it? why won't programs like media player, itunes, and others that get info from the net. connection work, they used to work?:( thanks in advance for any and all help

hmm

Sorry if its been mentioned (not on the front post yet),

I've just noticed that the iTunes App Store has changed as well (on the device). It now shows ALL pictures instead of just 1 and has some new sorting features including by release date!

Looks like they do listen :)

i noticed something useful for me.....

podcasts now appear earliest first - pretty sure they we newest first before!

much better!

no push notification

still no notification service.. when did apple want to bring this feature to the iphone? september?

so how do they determine walking mode vs car mode? i mean it will reroute itself which is good just how does it know?

Well you have the option to choose either car mode or walking mode. I think that the only difference between walking and car mode is that you can walk against one way streets and through car-free zones.

some people use 24 hr time much more than 12/12 time

I prefer to use 24 hr time :)

i'm also located in vienna...do we get public transporation infos round here? can't really test it until the evening...stuck at home, working :(

I have just tried it going from Burggasse to the veterinary university in the 22nd district. Worked like a charm and the arrival times for the public transportations were exact. Amazing service!

Even after eight years in the States, it sometimes amazes me how the concept of walking as a means of transportation is so fundamentally lacking.

Sorry buddy, if your going to walk somewhere, just look at a friggin map and WALK. I don't see why you would need directions to walk from point A to point B - again, just open Google Maps and use your brain. I'm sorry you must need a computer to inform you of common sense.

The only reason why we would need driving directions is because people usually drive far distances. But if your going to walk less than 5 miles, I think you can figure it out with a map in your hand.

I still don't see any Google "Street View" on my phone, but oh well. (I've checked in several locations that have Street View on a regular computer). Nothing. I'm not new to the iPhone. I've had mine for a long time. I don't see any "Street View."

Is there something I'm missing? ?????????

Follow THIS guide ;)

Street View is currently a bit flawed from what I can see. You have to manually drop a pin on each location before you can see if it has a view available. Surely a on screen icon identifying Street View areas would have been better? Lots of locations in NYC if you want to test it.

Rate Apps on Deletion

I've just noticed a really useful addition, when deleting an app from your iphone via the hold->wobble->delete method you will now be asked to rate the app using the 5 star rating scale.

I nice quick way to get a review everyone who has tested the app, not just those can be bothered to do so via iTunes. Mind you, no reasoning is asked in addition to your rating, which could be questionable.

And I think the home button thing is brilliant, nothing worse than having to swipe back 5 pages every time you update more than one app!

I don't know what's going on but as 2.2 was finishing install, it said "iPhone was disconnected" or something like that. it wasn't, and it's said that a few times before too.

I was doing some quick colour editing in Preview to post in this thread, and when I tried to save it told me the file (which I had taken out of iPhoto, my camera is still connected) had been modified or something, and the whole computer froze. beach ball is still here 10 minutes later. iTunes will play songs when it wants to, I can't click at all...

I type this on my iPhone which seems to have 2.2 (google bar is there, settings says 2.2), and 2.2/crash probably aren't related but thought I would see if anyone else had this?

hard restart?

I just downloaded the new update and installed it on my phone. I haven't had chance to mess around with it yet though.

Possible Undocumented Update

I believe this is new as it doesn't do it on an iPhone with 2.1 ... when typing in a number on the keypad a small space appears after the first 5 digits have been entered.. i'm guessing this is to help identify area codes...

A Dutch user posted on a forum that his 2G iPhone got unlocked with this firmware, any confirmation? Pwnage was previously installed so maybe it didn't get deleted.

My 3G iPhone said it was unlocked after installing 2.2 too.

wait, what? were the phones pwned before? as per the dev team post http://blog.iphone-dev.org/post/60830674/sir-step-away-from-the-keyboard restoring will make it lose activation/jailbreaking but updating will keep it activated.
