Someone at Apple can't spell

Typo in the podcast section of the iTunes Wi-Fi store... they've put 'catagories'!

Brightness Glitch

I had my brightness set fairly low but with autobrightness set - this gave me a low standard light brightening when outdoors..

Its really trivial but after the update it was re-set to be much brighter - about 75% - I set it back and all is fine....

I say this to highlight that this is the only real glitch I can find :) System feels far more responsive - especially in Safari and I seem to be getting better phone signal strengh in my office too which is a bonus..

Don't like the method of getting into streetview but I can see reasons why they did it that way so no worries.

Some bright spark can't spell categories correctly when they made the podcast section of the iTunes Wi-Fi store... they've put 'catagories'!

I can't confirm this. Or am I looking in the wrong place?

What's the problem?

Distance doesn't dictate route complexity.
Regardless, I really don't see what the problem is. A point to point route regardless of whether you are in a car or on foot allows you to get on with navigating without having to keep your end destination in sight all the time; something else is doing that for you automatically. You just worry about your next turn.

Sorry buddy, if your going to walk somewhere, just look at a friggin map and WALK. I don't see why you would need directions to walk from point A to point B - again, just open Google Maps and use your brain. I'm sorry you must need a computer to inform you of common sense.

The only reason why we would need driving directions is because people usually drive far distances. But if your going to walk less than 5 miles, I think you can figure it out with a map in your hand.

Catagories

I am on an iPod touch though so maybe that matters..?

Odd..... My favorite new feature is the click home button to bring you home from any other screen. Sad :(

If you have set up custom web-clip icons they are replaced by the websites default web-clip icon when you launch the web-clip.

Huh?

So, if Apple does updates according to priority that means that:

1. MMS
2. Cut and Paste
3. Todo List
4. Background notification for IM apps
5. Send SMS to groups

Is less of a priority than "send location by email".

Golly, maybe we'll get really lucky next update and see multi-colored pastel neon iPhones! YAY! OMG!!!

I don't know about you guys, but I really hate receiving MMS messages and not being able to see them on my phone. It's annoying and it's like having a car without a stereo. Sure, it works. But, it's not quite as fun.

Vielen Dank!

glad I could help :)

I think that this release was directed more towards stability and performance. I hope that the next ones will introduce some of the features that the community has been asking for a long time

Updating my iPhone this morning as soon as I woke up and noticed the news on NetNewsWire.

My iPhone 3G is now really cruising speed wise. Everything seems to open up in an instant or close to it. Safari seems a faster and more stable as well. In fact, I haven't gotten it to crash yet, which is a new record.

I am very impressed with the new Google Maps features. Unfortunately the transit directions don't help me in NH, but when I go to Boston they should be great to use.

I really love the new Podcast features. Being able to stream podcasts over the air should be great for when I want to try out a podcast before subscribing to it. It is basically having on-demand podcasts now. Take that radio!

That just seems lazy. You should know where your going. It's really not a hard task. Well, maybe I just have a great sense of direction. :D

Anyways, some other poster (not you) was getting on my back because he falsely equated my "what's the point of walking directions" with "what's the point of walking." I get his drift. I'm well travelled and am aware of stereotypes.

Virgin iPhone user and...

First time updating my four day old iPhone and this update is HUGE. 246.4 megabytes.

It would appear that the 'rule of thumb' is to keep 500M of space free on the iPhone for updates? Do the updates require much extra open space to install? I know that on my touch I ran into an issue updating apps and running out of space.

Seems like a silly question but I'm curious...

I am of the body. I have an iPhone, finally (and a new 2 year contract with the great death star... *sigh*

and apparently I got High Speed 'Extreme' for the first month since signing up with Shaw and it's slow as heck. It took me 30 min to download the update. At least Shaw saved me money for making NOT wanting to get Extreme.

Call Shaw. I have 'Extreme' and the download took me no more than 3 minutes. Of course, you may have downloaded it during a time of heavy load on Apple's servers.

Seriously....call Shaw.
