Telstra has become the first Australian mobile phone carrier to reveal pricing details for the iPhone, ahead of the arrival of the much-hyped device next month.
The iPhone - which will also be available on Vodafone and Optus networks - hits Australian stores on July 11.
Telstra's plans start from $30 per month with an upfront cost of $279 for the 8GB model and $399 for the 16GB model, while those who sign up to the $80 plan will receive the 8GB model at no cost.
People who sign on to Telstra's $100 plan will receive either the 8GB or 16GB model at no extra cost.
All plans include free Wi-Fi access at Telstra hotspots.
Telstra consumer group managing director David Moffatt said it was an exciting development for the Australian mobile phone market, adding that regional areas would not be left out of the loop.
"When it comes to regional Australia, and outer-metro areas, it's optimised to work on Telstra's NextG network," Mr Moffatt said.
Telstra's NextG network had the ability to provide iPhone coverage to 99 per cent of the population, he said.
Mr Moffatt said all the multimedia features and functions that operate on the iPhone would operate in Australia.
"Of course you'll get the benefit of additional ... Telstra services like Sensis, Whereis and Yellow search," he said.
Ms Moffatt said there was a large demand for iPhones and similar devices and expected it would be very well received in Australia.
"This is one in a series of terrific multi-media devices and obviously this has got a very, very large and popular following, because it is so much simpler to use in terms of its user interface."
