Well NZ prices are up, still no announcement from Vodafone.

If Vodafone's plans are a rip off I'm screwed, I think it's too late to get one from Optus. For launch, that is.

Well Vodafone NZ have their prices on their website, and I must say that they are CRAP.

Cheapest plans are:
16GB Black iPhone - $699 + $80/month (includes 120minutes talk, 600SMS, 250MB) - http://www.vodafone.co.nz/iphone/16gb-black.jsp
8GB White iPhone - $549 + $80/month (includes 120minutes talk, 600SMS, 250MB)

They are all on a 24 month plan.

Hopefully Vodafone Aus don't have the price that high. This is rediculous. If they are that high then i'm signing up with Optus.

Better price comparison link with Vodafone NZ: http://www.vodafone.co.nz/iphone/plans.jsp

There's no way they can be that high and be competitive here.

How do they compare to non iPhone plans? That might give us an indication of what we can expect.

Looks like I'm going Optus...

Guys, relax, Vodafone's plans will have to be better than Optus' and Telstra's. The less coverage you have (ie. Vodafone with none), the less you have to charge to get customers. If someone can get better coverage for the same price or less, than it's a no brainer to go to Optus.

Ok, but I'm getting my "I told you so" out now in preparation...

EDIT: Check out the termination section of the Optus pricing page. If you cancel after 12 months you will be liable for 80% of the "cancellation fee", which depends on which cap you get initially.

Just spoke to the Optus store in Canberra, and I hate to say it, but it's not looking good in regards to finding an iPhone on Optus, unless you have pre-registered.

The sales guy was saying that a pre-registration guarenteed you an iPhone on launch day. And that if you hadn't pre-registered you have very little hope.

Maybe the reason Optus stopped taking pre-registrations was that they realised they had nearly sold their entire first shipment to pre-registered customers?

I wonder how long till they get some more!?

doesn't seem like there is a point.

i can't make it to canberra till midday anyways. its unlikely that there will be any left regardless.

guess ill just wait for iPhone 2.0 shipment 2.

WIll i be able to get the iphone?

I live in sydney, the CBD. At this stage i am planning to get the 16 gig iphone on the 30 dollar telstra plan. Although am still waiting to see what the vodafone plans and prices are like. I have not pre registered or done anything of the sort yet. I want to know if i will be able to get the iphone oon its day 1 of release. When and where do i need to be to be guarenteed a iphone. also is it possible to on the telstra plan pay the 400 dollars for the iphone then pay off the 24 months of the plan up front? thanks in advance arthur.
im a newbie here.

If you go to the Church Street store in the city, you will be guarenteed an iPhone.
....Joking... Noone can guarentee anything, or even give you a good idea on where to go. The fact is that there seems like there will be a huge shortage, especially on day 1. I guess you just need to be lucky if you haven't pre-ordered (don't worry - im in the same boat - haven't preordered and still waiting for Vodafone to release their prices).

Very unlikely you will be able to get a phone anywhere on launch day. Stock is going to be very low to the point where most phones will be gone in minutes.

Telstra have as yet not released specific details about the structure of the plans or their business model with respect to the iPhone.

Optus Says No To iTunes?

For all of us Australian's who have read the fine print in optus prepaid explination, then you would have seen this little piece of info.

Downloading Music to your Apple iPhone: To download music to your Apple iPhone you will require iTunes with a broadband connection.

What does this mean?, persoanlly i have no idea, but am thinking that this line means that we will be unable to download music from itunes on our phone using this specific feature... Does this also mean we are unable to use the App Store?

Does anyone have any knowledge or idea of there own about this? would be appreciated :)

Thanks.

i think it means to download music you need to do it over a wifi broadband connection.

i think.

Oh! ok... so, you will still be able to use the itunes oand App store on your phone, but instead of simply using the "optus 3G connection" you need to be over a broadband wifi connection. that makes sense...

Thank-you :)

And why is everyone saying that there will be limited iphones everywhere and noone will get them and they will all sellout? where did this info come from?
