Just ask the usual:
• How many iPhones are you getting?
• When will we know plans and pricing?
• Can I reserve/preorder one or order online?
:)

Of course, but it will at least tell us if there's any consistency in what the customer service droids are told.

Edit: Oh, Optus? I thought he was calling Vodafone.

ok, biggest thing i got from the call to optus was... if you did not deposit $100, ya f**ked.

  1. can order over the phone on the 11th, will take time to post
  2. tomorrow the website will have info about stores having them in and opening time
  3. No VV as of yet
  4. have to talk on the 11th about pay outright on the spot for the iPhone at your store
  5. No way you can do the deposit thing anymore
  6. Upgrade should be easy to the 3rd gen, may or may not be penalized

Hmmm

God, I seriously hope this all blows over when they announce that each store has like a hundred phones and can get more in within the week.

Not bloody likely. Shipping to stores outside the big Sydney ones is likely to be in the single figures - that's what my contacts at Telstra have told me.

No phones in the country till the 11th (not earlier - shipping ON the 11th) and in much lower quantities than previously assumed.

Wow. An actual release date of the 12th is looking more and more likely then.

How long do you reckon it'll take them to re-stock? Surely it wouldn't be longer than a few weeks, right?

WEEKS:eek::eek::eek::eek:
i want to use as much of my free data as possible untill the end of August, iPhone on the 11th, or i will probably break down and cry

is it just me or has the optus $49 cap gone down from 500mb to 250mb data/pm???

Can anyone confirm this? I thought it was 500MB too, but I could have been mistaken. Either way, it is on their website as only having 250MB, which isn't that much.

The "yes" cap plan is 250mb
The "yes" plan is 500mb.

Original released plans (can't remember who to give credit to, but I didn't originally capture this!)

Dunno - all we've been told is that shipping was drastically lower than originally planned and that shipments to most stores will be slim to none. There's very little chance that it will be available on the 11th, or the 12th or the 19th for that matter - stock is going to be very very light.

But has it changed at all? Has the "yes" cap plan always been 250MB, or was it 500MB originally?

afaik it was always 250 on the yes cap plan. the screenshot i have was taken within the first 20 min, before server load crapped things out.

Not a problem.
Thanks anyway.
Oh... and I looked at the screenshot you gave, but couldn't see the details of it (it was too small).

Thanks :)
