Mine shipped yesterday and is scheduled for delivery tomorrow! Awesome! I wonder if the Apple store can activate them before Friday?

Who exactly is getting the iPhone early? Apple.com pre-orders? AT&T online pre-orders? AT&T B&M pre-orders? The MacRumors story just says "there are reports that..." with no sources. I'm wondering if it's just the echo chamber effect going on: someone says it on a forum, MacRumors writes an article about it, then people on the forum point to the article to prove that it's true.

Apple.com preorder here. Scheduled delivery is 6/17

Don't delivery dates reflect the local time/date of the deliveree, not the time/date in China? So, if it says you'll get someting on the 18th, you'll get it on the 18th in the U.S. Anyway, I spoke to two different Apple reps a little while ago, and they both told me some people will indeed be getting iPhones a day or two early. Mine two-day ships from Hong Kong today and will, presumably, be delivered on Thursday, not Friday, which is faster than the original "delivers by June 19" and much faster than the "delivers by June 22" that just showed up in an Apple e-mail.

The sooner the better, I say.

when you have the tracking number, click on the UPS link. It shows scheduled delivery there in the tracking info

and when will apple send me the tracking info. also i thought apple usually ships fedex? i ordered on june 11th and have no tracking number...any ideas?
thanks

For the sake of the rest of you, I hope the iPhones arrive early for those that are hoping for it.

I however wish Apple would have told me the truth when they guaranteed many times on the phone that my shipment would arrive on the 19th - not before, not after - as I am going to be in the Midwest on the 18th and in Seattle on the 19th. So unfortunately if my tracking info is correct and it arrives on the 18th, I will not be at the specified address in Seattle to accept the package.

Oh well, at least it should be waiting for me when I arrive :)

ordered on the 10th at about 6pm Central, due for Seattle on 18th

if i dont get mine on the 19th i expect some kind of compensation especially since i ordered on the 8th shortly after the site was back up. They better be ready to give me a free itunes card or something.

Well, if you ordered through Apple.com, you should receive an email.

Or you could check your order status at Apple.com.

We ordered two from Apple on the 8th:

One has a UPS tracking number and did say it was going to be here the 17th, but now it's not saying any delivery date.

The other (ordered 10 mins after the first) has finally moved to prepared for shipment as of today.

I called ATT yesterday cause I found someone to buy my 16gb Iphone 3G for $300 so I figured I would just pay the difference and get the new one.
They said it would be $299, $399 & $499 for whichever model I wanted.

I decided to go buy the store cause the girl was super confused on what I was asking for and they said I was eligible for upgrade pricing even though I got my 3G in september of 08.

Not hesitating one bit, I jumped on apples site, punched in my account info and ordered the 32GB 3Gs for $299

So I guess you can say that after selling my old 3G; I got the 3GS for free :)

As much as I hate AT&T, I support them on this issue. They are not in the wrong. This is how they want to conduct business. It is their decision.

keep in mind something else. all the other customers. all the folks with blackberrys and other smartphones. you think they liked that the iphone was treated special. that it got a lower rate plan etc.

probably not. some of them might have even complained.

and then we get the iphone being treated like every other smart phone. like every other phone even.

those 1.0 early adopters had to pay full price for their phones and still sign a two year contract. the 'free' upgrade to the 3g was to make up for the fact that they weren't treated the same as every other phone. but now that that has been made right, the rules of the game are equal. you wanna upgrade to the 3gs, you play by the rules. no more mulligans.

Excellent point about Apple's now annual summer event of the iPhone and that to avoid the AT&T hate they should offer it only on a 1 year commitment. This would avoid some if not most of the public outlash from the enthusiasts.

Apple doesn't have a choice in the matter. length of contract and upgrade rules are ATTs domain.

This isn't correct. You can get it for $399 if you re-up your two-year contract.

You're not correct, just partially. You can get it for $399 ONLY if you are 18 months into your two year contract. Otherwise, if you are less than 18 months, it will cost you $499 for the 32GB version.

I see most of you ordered online, so I figured I'd add my info.

I ordered mine Tuesday the 9th in the evening at a AT&T store.

Yesterday evening sometime it went from In Progress to Shipped.

Although there is a UPS tracking number, it's yet to show up in UPS's tracking system.

This is being shipped to the store and not to me, so I'm not sure what that means. :) I guess it will be there on the 19th.

Incorrect. I was not 18 months into my two-year contract. Just 8 months in and I got the early upgrade option.

I'm sure the rest of us are happy to have subsidized your new iPhone purchase. I suppose you'll be reimbursing us over the next two years or so...?

It would be nice if you are able to activate your early-delivered phones as soon as you get them, instead of having to wait until Friday.
