I ordered on the 9th from at&t to be shipped directly to my house.

And as of about 4 seconds ago, I'm still "In Progress."

Of course, with my luck, it will get delivered early when no one is home to sign for it.

I'm in the exact same boat (except I'll be home). 32Gs White via AT&T and still "In progress". It's clearly an epidemic when having to deal with AT&T.

The 3.0 final release is all over the interwebs - just grab it and get your cut and paste. Nothing tricky about using this release.

32G Black ordered about 2 minutes after the site went up. Status is still "prepared for shipment".

I just want my 3.0 firmware cut and paste! The wait is killing me.

<collapses on the floor in sobs>

I don't want everybody to get to excited. I don't think these packages are going to be deiveried as early as everyone expects. Google world ease.

Mine just updated also :D Finally!

Same here:

I ordered June 9th around noonish, central time. I'm more than happy with the 19th, early would be neat though. Still, I'm not expecting it any earlier than the 19th.

Usually when it says downgraded it means that the service level selected lets say for example Express which may have a 1030am commit time is not available in your, so what they do is pick the next fastest usually Express saver which has an EOD commit time.

Looks faster to me:

What it means is your one package is part of a multi package shipment and will not clear customs as an individual shipment, but part of bulk shipment. Which means it waits for every other package that is apart of that shipment.

No, what it means is that the entire shipment is cleared at once.

Edit:

Mine says 18th delivery...and it's made it to Hong Kong!:)

Still a chance to get it without a contract?

Yes you can purchase the new iphone 3GS outright from Apple or ATT. Its going to cost you though.
599 for 16GB
699 for 32 GB
I thought about purchasing outright as well, hell its only 200 bucks more than what I would pay to upgrade early anyways

I placed the order on the 11th and mine has shipped. UPS says it is in Hong Kong now and that it will arrive tomorrow, 6/17. I don't see how that can be true - I live in Maine. The Apple shipment notification says "delivery by June 22"... hope it comes before the weekend.

Yeah apparently the 9th = still in progress ... I'll bet the others ordered the 8th... I just was so sick of how long the site was taking on the 8th that I waited till the 9th...

that's exactly what i was told by ups this morning.... although i have a delivery date of the 18th... i'll get it the 19th because it's all in china time....

Uh...no, I SERIOUSLY doubt the delivery date shown is in China time. I think this customer service rep was confused about what you were asking. In general customer service reps don't know jack anyway. You'll find 100 different stories on this same forum.

UPS is no little fly-by-night international shipper. The shipment tracking page is a tool used by customers all over the world to figure out when they will get their packages. I would sure hope UPS got that part straight by now.

The only times in China times are the package progress steps that took place in China.

I see most of you ordered online, so I figured I'd add my info.

I ordered mine Tuesday the 9th in the evening at a AT&T store.

Yesterday evening sometime it went from In Progress to Shipped.

Although there is a UPS tracking number, it's yet to show up in UPS's tracking system.

This is being shipped to the store and not to me, so I'm not sure what that means. :) I guess it will be there on the 19th.

I'm in the same boat as you. Ordered 2 on the 9th. One marked shipped on the 12th and the other on the 15th. Hope both are there on Friday and ATT doesn't pull any backorder nonsense on me. I plan on doing nothing but playing with my first Iphone on Friday night after a long day at work.

On Its Way!

Im supposed to be getting mine tommorow. UPS's website says it has already left Hong Kong in route to where I live. Scheduled delivery date is 6/17/09. I only order mine last Friday with the free shipping option, go figure!

No, what it means is that the entire shipment is cleared at once.

Edit:
So this is how it works.
The packages are being shipped from China, probably going to Louisville to clear thru customs. Once the all the individual shipments that make up the one big shipments arrives they will be cleared.

This again?

I registered specifically to address this line of thinking--as AT&T is 100% wrong.

AT&T should cater to its enthusiast base, and figure out how to adapt to that which is a unique opportunity: being the exclusive US carrier of the iPhone.

... One factor OUGHT to be considered: early adopter.

Show me another device with an expected annual refresh of its hardware.

.

This IS getting really old.
You're asking for something for nothing.
The "early adopters" where the ones that bought the iphone 2G.
And if I'm not mistaken some of those that bought the original iPhone and then the 3G are eligible for earlier upgrades.

Plain and simple - pay the upgrade fee to pay for the balance of the "subsidized iphone your holding in your hand which you agreed to pay off by staying with ATT for 2yrs" or don't and wait another 12months and get the iPhone 4G which will be even better and will have hordes of spoiled iPhone 3Gs owners crying because they can't get the early upgrade.

I have an iPhone 3G and while it would be nice to get the iPhone 3Gs at a subsidized price, I do realize that my phone is not paid for yet and that the contract I signed with ATT is no different then what any other carrier would require me to do, including the blessed Verizon.

You think since you bought the iPhone you're somehow entitled to automatic cut rates on future models? That's rich! And maybe my utility company will forego my next three bills because I've been a loyal customer for so many years.

You got your "present" / "special deal" when you first layed your hands on the iPhone 3G for $199 or $299 instead of $499 or $599.

Most handset makers come out with new models every year even if it isn't in the same family per se as iPhone models are. That being said, you still are getting increased functionality with your "old" decrepit iPhone 3G via the OS 3.0 release. What handset maker does that?
