iPhone 4 Available for Pre-Order from Apple

I've been trying for 4.5 hours... WTF How are all of you getting through when the stupid ****ing store is down for me???

It is unbelievable that Apple didn't not test this **** earlier. How could they not expect this type of load?? huge FAILURE!!

LOL, you too? I'm going on 4 hours myself. On "hold" with the Apple Store now, probably will be for 4 hours as well.

I gave up and ordered via the ATT.com. Transaction went completely smooth. It also offered Fedex free overnight delivery. I'm guessing they just ship from Apple as well.

So for those of you that need to go to work like me..... go to ATT.com, log in, and order from there.

Now att's site won't even load up. The phone must be finally showing up on their server and now they're getting hammered as well...?

They clearly got flooded with orders. No server on the planet can handle being flooded. Basically Apple is getting with a DOS attack. Its just real traffic.

That's BS. They should have know about it and done something ahead of time.

They apparently didn't do it right then. I dont' give a flip about their good plans and best intentions. I'm going to really be PO'ed if this doesn't get fixed real soon.

Family Plan

So how does the Apple Store handle family plans? Both my wife and I have an iPhone.

When I partially got in there this morning it seemed like they were only going to let me order one phone.

Then you being in more pipes. You increase your db cluster capacity. If you have enough hardware in place, you can handle any amount of traffic. Apple was completely unprepared and probably tried to do this on the cheap, with just what they had from the last iPhone launch in place, no or little new hardware. It didn't work and they are paying for it now.

So, whilst I wait for a better connection to the apple store, can anyone answer a few questions? First, what are AT&T's family plans for minutes, and will changing a line on a plan increase the price? Because it said that my "current plan" is $100 when I don't believe I pay that much a month currently. I have 3 lines on the plan, just voice, no data or texting. And I do realize I need a data plan, but thats a clearly separate charge. What's wrong with this? AT&T's site is also down, so I can't easily check this stuff.

Also, it said that I couldn't ship it, but it could reserve one in store. I'll be in a weird situation for picking it up because I'll be in NJ(normally in AZ) this coming week (22-25), but after that Im flying over to england for 2.5 weeks. Will it work to have it shipped to the friends house at which Im staying, or should I reserve it for pick up? I just need to guarantee I get it on the 24th.

I did notice that it didn't appear to waive my 18 upgrade fee that I could tell. I'm a bit pissed about that because my text upgrade check said they would. I figure I'll wait until I get my phone and then call to complain about the fees.

Apple doesn't do stuff on the cheap and ATT site is having issues now as well...There are just too many people trying to order it at the same time.
