Apple's site won't work.

AT&T's site won't work.

AT&T won't take my call.

Apple won't take my call.

Glad to see how well planned this was.

Interesting. I had been trying since 4AM, couldn't get beyond the "add to cart" screen on apple's site. At work now and still trying, now I couldn't get past the AT&T check. Finally, just for giggles, I checked my cart and much to my surprise, it was there...must have been stored there from my earlier attempts. At that point, I checked out no problem.

Methinks I can wait a few hours or days before I pre-order. I'll likely still get my new phone on launch day.

But I would LOVE to have it shipped to my home. I hope that remains an option.

Unnecessarily complex pre-order process

why can't apple start the pre-order process MONTHS in advance of shipping to avoid this type of issue? for example, take video games...they start pre-order process several months in advance.

maybe something for apple to consider the next go around....

It is pretty ridiculous. They have the resources; they are stupid not to expect this type of demand.

Pre-ordering Issues

I'm getting the same BS that everyone here is... this is why it is ridiculous to announce a "Pre-order" date in the future... it just builds up all this pent-up demand and is sure to disappoint once there... it is different if the product is actually in stock, but doing this for pre-ordering is just retarded...

Not a glitch. All iPhone accounts that end before 2011 are automatically able to upgrade, however that's not the end of the story. Completely independent from the iPhone situation, AT&T determines whether your account is available for an upgrade (to any phone, not just the iPhone) based on various factors that are known only to them.

My contact did not end until 2011 and I am also able to upgrade at this time.

I have the opposite "glitch." Im 100% eligible for the upgrade price of 299 yet when I go to check out it says 699, FML.

Right, but I thought if your contract expired in 2011, then you didn't get the 299 price, it would be 399??

just got off the phone with apple. they said they weren't expecting such large volume and that both internet and phone ordering servers were down. waited 30 minutes on hold to get that reply. They told me to wait an hour or 2 and that both servers would be back online. They assured me there were plenty of iPhones available that they're just experiencing technical difficulties.

Their FOURTH iPhone launch and they didn't expect this?! This company is turning into a damn joke, maybe it's time to cash all my stocks now.

I worked at placing my order for around and hour and a half. I got the 'Oops' error several dozen times at different points during the process. I just kept going back to the main store page and going into my cart. That took a couple dozen times before I actually saw my cart. Then all of the sudden everything just went through without a hitch. It was as if, everyone else just stopped trying. Now I just need the confirmation email to feel secure.

I am not sure why the estimated tax on a $299 purchase is $57.67 but I hope that is worked out when my order is actually charged.

Read the bottom of the ordering page : In CA, MA, and RI, sales tax is collected on the unbundled price of iPhone.

I can't seem to make it through on AT&T or Apple. Apple gets stuck checking my upgrade eligibility, and AT&T won't get past me selecting which line I want to upgrade. Been trying since 7.

Is AT&T up for you? The site has been down for quite a while for me.

I could never get the iPhone 4 to show up on AT&T's website. It would always just give me the 3GS. At least I finally got through on Apple.com.

Has anyone been able to get their phone ordered?! This is some major BS. I tried for about an hour at 3am CST then just woke up figuring I would give it some time and now it's worse than it was then. So much for pre-ordering.

You know... If you all would stop beating the crap out of Apple's servers with trying pre orders I would be able to get mine in, then you all can go back to beating the crap out of there servers. :D

I keep reading if you are on the family plan you can only reserve one phone. However, my fiance and I are on a family plan (him primary and me secondary). He logged in this morning and reserved at Apple, got the correct upgrade price and it went through. Got the email under his Apple login.

I did the exact same and got a confirmation email under my Apple login. Is this a glitch and one will be cancelled?

Woke up at 7:00am EST logged into ATT Premier ordered my phone, no email confirmation but card got charged. Hope everything is good and the email is just delayed or something.

Did your card get charged the full amount? I placed an order via attwireless.com that timed out earlier this morning. I never saw a confirmation number, haven't gotten a confirmation e-mail, but I have a pending charge for $1.00 on my debit card from the AT&T E-store.
