iPhone 4 Available for Pre-Order from Apple

ATT doesn't give me the option to purchase an iphone 4.

I have an 8% employee discount/FAN # associated with my account. Should NOT block me from purchasing the phone.

No, but the ipad didn't have the AT&T upgrade check issue. This really seems like an AT&T problem is causing this. Actually the 3GS pre-order seemed easy compared to this.
 
In ATT store in Manhattan. Apple server and ATT server both down, nothing moves. Guys, seriously! You think they'd be doing this for the first time... They should get their guts together, this is rediculous.
 
This is all I keep getting. I wait 10 minutes before retrying each time. Figured it's not going to help if I myself getting slamming the server with my requests.

Things happen and launches never going without issues. They can never make sure everything is going to go right. Just be patient everyone. I am sure if you pre-order today you will get one launch day.
 
I was able to preorder mine.

Maybe the rest of you should stop whining online and try devoting more time to being patient on apple.com.

I'm jealous, as I posted before, I can once in a while, reach the preorder page, but it won't allow me to pick up the phone at the West Des Moines Apple Store and only allow it to be shipped to my billing address. YET, if I choose to add the phone as a new line, I can reserve it for pick up?!?! I'm not going to be in the same city as my billing address, but will be 2 hours south near the only Apple store in Iowa that week.
 
both apple and at&t are going slow.

it's annoying, but this happens even on sites like amazon. when the ps3 I think was first available, toys r us, amazon, etc were all down. I don't blame you guys for trying, I'm doing it myself, but if you wait a few hours things should settle down. I'm fairly confident if you preorder at all today you'll get one, even apple stores themselves the past few years have usually had stock at least through the first weekend
 
Damn Safari-->Apple site keeps timing out due to inactivity.

"Please wait while we access your AT&T account information."

Then it says Timed out due to inactivity! I'M WAITING ON YOU WEBSITE :mad:
 
major technology firm can't manage online retail store...yeah right.

when is everyone going to realize that apple does this on purpose.

"Lots of people effortlessly order new phone" is not news.

"Flood of iPhone pre-orders brings down Apple and AT&T servers" makes headlines.

I think it looks cute.

Good to see some pre-orders are going through. The servers are just overloaded. Maybe they are getting more pre-orders than they expected even. Sometimes the demand is a lot more than they even expect.

Ive been trying since 7:30am EST, fails every time. At this point Im ready to sell my apple stock, and move on as I truly see this as a reflection on the quality of service I can come to expect from these two companies moving forward. Preorders are not cutting edge, they did fine for ipads, so again this is a major fail. Apple officially did not care enough to make sure this process went smooth.

Seriously people, relax. It's a phone. You will get your pre-order in, ready to sell your stock over this? G ood grief, stop whining already.

Fact is there are probably millions trying to pre-order, if you understand technology, there is only so much you can do. You can't even compare iPad pre-orders to a very well established base of iPhone customers who are going o pre-order. Let the dust settle and get your order in, you will get your phone you big spoiled brats.

I think they were bad for the 3G and if you think about it you have that entire group of buyers eligible for the upgrade plus new users who want the next gen phone.

The demand for iPhone 4 is probably the biggest they have ever had for an iPhone launch.

go to the apple store with a fresh session .. add something " mundane" to your cart ( a new macbook pro or the bumpers case.. anything really) and then pow!! in your cart is sitting a nice iphone that you have spent the last 5 hours trying to order :-D!!!!!!!!!

this is what happened for me =) i just put it through all a-okay. just waiting for my confirm e-mail !!!
 
OK so I've been trying to order since 5AM Central time. After finding out that I can't have this delivered to my work address I opted to reserve this at the Apple store near me due to the fact that I have to work all day and can't wait around at home for this to be delivered. I live in an apartment so I don't trust this sitting at my doorstep and not sure if this would get dropped off at our main office otherwise. Needless to say as of around 9:30AM CENTRAL time I FINALLY have one reserved for pick up at the Apple store. And as of typing this out I received a confirmation e-mail from Apple. I hope this works and a phone is saved for and I'm out of there in time for work at 9AM!

You people are adults, right? JEEZ. GROW THE F UP! Quit taking it personally.. like Steve Jobs and AT&T are just out to piss you off... that one moron said he was going to sell his freaking Apple stock because the preorder process is getting bogged down. It happens. It freaking happens people. You will have your precious iPhone soon enough. Just CHILL. It's really not that ig of a deal. I'm sure Apple is working as hard as they can to make it go as smoothly as possible, but give them a break.
 
I say just make a post once you get your pre-order in so we know there is progress on the orders. I agree stop complaining about it not working. We know it is not working and it's not helping the situation and I do not want to sit through and filter out the good news over b*tching.

did your confirmation email say pre-authorization does not guarantee iphone availability? What gives with this statement? Anyone have any info?
 
AT&T site doesn't show me the new iPhone as an option, even though I selected a line that has never had an iPhone on it!

oh well...I guess I can wait until August??!@ )*)(^&*^$%#%$^@#%^
