I know many of you are getting desperate after so many hours of trying...but stay away from AT&T.com. They are not anything like Apple, and there is absolutely no guarantee that your order will even go through.

AT&T can and may even delete your order if its in some way incomplete, or they suspect a duplicate, etc... Point is, its a terrible online ordering system on a good day, today is the wrong day to be testing it out it for the first time.

Those of you hoping those AT&T orders to be delivered on June 24/25, you'll be lucky if they arrive in June, at all.
 
This is insane I've been trying to order an iphone for my wife's birthday since 8am this morning, and have only gotten past the ATT section once! I would order through ATT whose website actually seems to functioning, but I'm getting an error when I try to port over her old number. How can these companies worth billions and billions of dollars not set up some sort of system that works for at least 24 hrs!?
 
So after getting frustrated with online pre-ordering I went to the AT&T store to get my pre-order in. Anyways, according to the sales rep, pre-order supplies are already exhausted and I had to back order my phone which, according to the sales rep, will be about 2-3 weeks.
 
Earlier this morning I was getting through AT&T's check just fine, but then it was bombing when I tried to "Add to Cart"... or so I thought. I just checked my cart and I had 3 phones in there! I deleted two and completed the order.

Wow - good call. Had one in my cart from this morning and am able to check out. Problem is - they still have my home address for billing and I changed it to office to deliver at office on the 24th. Guess I will continue to wait out the AT&T site.

Everyone should check their cart though, if they had any earlier success.
 
And to think, this is only pre-ordering. Remember how difficult it was to activate the first iPhone? Weren't there some folks that had to wait all weekend to get the phones activated? I wonder if the 24th will be a similar experience.

what if i have a order number you think they would still delete order ?
 
Apple Online Store Vs AT&T Online Store

The issue has to be with AT&T. You can go to the Apple Online Store and place anything else in your basket and go all the way to checkout with absolutely no problem. Try to pre-order the iPhone, and, well, we all know what's going on there...
 
you can cancel AT&T Orders if they dont ship, correct? Then I can just pick up the one I have reserved in the Apple store?
 
Has anyone who has successfully got their order to the final phase had any trouble selecting to have their phone reserved for pickup at the Apple Store? The few times I got that far in the past 6 hours, it would only allow me to get it shipped to my billing address (which I won't be around the day of release)

Does this have to cross check with the AT&T account info? We have a family plan and the account is under my moms name. Can I add myself as joint owner and it will be ok?
 
I'm sorry, but this is ridiculous. I've been trying since 8 CT or so. I've gotten past the upgrade eligibility once, and then I got errors. Every time since, I get either a session timeout error or a generic stupid error. Not all of these are coming from AT&T... remember I got past that stupid eligibility thing once.

I'm getting numerous session timeout errors, even after the first step.. which is just horrible.

Very very frustrating. :mad: :mad: :mad:
 
Anyone else able to check order status after they submitted an order to AT&T? I got the confirmation email but it doesn't come up when I check the status...

Exactly why I would not do this through ATT. They are given an allotment unlike Apple direct.

I will wait for Apple to work out their connection problem to ATT which is what I am being told it is.

Att will as always screw you in the end as far as fulfillment goes, Apple on the other hand will deliver on time as my experience has shown.
 
I went to the att store. Standing in line I decided to try the apple store app on my 3g. BAM! I placed the order and I got a confirmation email. I smiled and just left the line to get my lunch. Good luck to all!
 
All Set... I think

So, I think I'm all set now, by using the new Apple Store app on the iPhone. The ease of the reservation is what has me questioning it's validity. Is it right that I didn't have to enter any payment information?

I now have a reservation to pick up a black iPhone 4, 32GB at my local Apple Store according to the iPhone app. It says that the phone will be available for me all day.

It is with ATT. I just had that confirmed by Apple. Might not get cleared up today apparently.
 
ive dealt with AT&T and I wouldnt be surprised if the phone did not come in June....My order was processing thru the Premier site and I just cancelled it mid-process. I cant help but feel like I'd get screwed by them. I have a phone reserved at Soho. I will just go there, atleast I feel like I have more control over the outcome there, than ATT

However...i do wonder if Apple will waive my activation fee for me( my discount waives those fees)...and apply the discount that I have

I did the same, but didn't get a confirmation email yet. Should I be worried? It's only been about 10 minutes. Did yours come instantly?
 
No luck here. Not too worried though, I am going to Europe and won't get back until July 4th, so even if my order does get through I have an extra 10 days for everything to work out.
