I got my Otterbox in today and there is only one thing I do not like about it. The clear part that covers the screen is not flush fitting on the screen so it kind of pushes in when you go to touch the screen which makes you have to slide your finger harder also when trying to send text or go through your apps.

Is this a problem for anybody else or is this isolated?

is there any place I can buy this case immediately? I have to leave for a trip next thurs, and I'd like to have a Otterbox defender for iphone 4 by then.. : /

there's nothing on ebay..

You probably won't be able to buy the cases in B&M stores until around August 8th at the earliest as that is when Amazon is listed to start selling them.

i actully did take a pic cause i was gonna look for them on ebay. but it was for a 3g or 3gs. sry

Just checking.

Just got the case I ordered last Tuesday today. So far, am happy with it, although I'll give it a few days. The stand feature is a nice thing.

Time will tell if the case is overkill or not. My other smartphones did well with fairly simple cases and basic screen protectors. However, none of then had glass on both sides. All and all, I think an Otterbox Defender is a wise purchase, and it isn't as bulky as I thought.

The phone should fit snugly into the case. There is no give on the two ip4 defender cases on mine nor wife's iPhone 4s. Perhaps the poster needs to fiddle with the case to get a good fit or return the case? It may be defective.

is there any videos that show the ip4 with a screen protector thats in use with the defender to show if it actually messes with the touch screen

Has anyone received a shipping notification for ones ordered on the 22nd? I still have not received any shipping notification on mine. I ended up finding one on craigslist, but still need one for the fiancee's iPhone.

I do have a Radtech anitglare screen protector on mine and it work perfectly fine with the built in screen protector.

Now that I've had my Defender case for a few days...

I still really like it, and won't go back to the Zagg/Bumper set up I had before. It's probably not perfect, but if you are looking for a very protective case that works with a holster, it's very close. Some other thoughts:

-I don't have problems with the built-in screen protector, and it probably provides some minor spill-protection benefit compared to taking it off, but you do see some rainbow effect and it collects smudges very quickly. Neither is an issue when the phone is on, but if something like that really bothers you, it'd be a problem.

-The silicon cover generally is very snug, but on mine, at least, is a bit loose on the upper-right corner. Maybe another tab there on the next version to solve the issue?

-It's probably more than one realistically needs if you are carrying the phone in your pocket.

-The "opening" to the phone (cameras, microphones, speaker, etc.) are well protected, but if you poke your phone with a nail in the right spot, the case won't do anything.

In all, a great case.

I ordered on the morning of the 23rd and am still waiting for a shipping notification as well. Seems some get theirs within a couple days and others are taking over a week. Odd.

From what I've been reading/seeing it look as though screen protectors (not the one on the case) may be the culprit.

I don't expect that to be a common problem :D

I ordered mine at 9:00 pm on the 27th and received my confirmation and tracking number this morning. Tracking states it will arrive on the 4th.
I ordered the defender for my IP4 and the defender for my iPad.

 What is going on at Otterbox HQ? Are products just shipped out randomly without regard to when they were ordered?

It is random...

They may be overwhelmed, or just not tracking when orders come in. I got lucky and had mine delivered fairly quickly (I ordered on the 20th, but later in the day), but it doesn't make sense that others who ordered on that day, or a few days later, are still waiting. I thought that they would slow-boat mine because I had used the code, but didn't seem to have had an effect.

The clear part that covers the screen is not flush fitting on the screen so it kind of pushes in when you go to touch the screen which makes you have to slide your finger harder also when trying to send text or go through your apps. It might be because of the zagg invis shield but I am not sure if that is what causing it or not. On my 3G I have a prortective shield on it plus the defender and I never had this problem so who knows.

I think as others have mentioned you have a defective case. I have my zagg screen protector underneath and I've had 0 issues with it. This was already mentioned above but smudges do show up quickly on it though, I'm considering taking the otterbox screen protector off and just using zagg protector but I'm still not convinced yet.

I have no idea how otterbox determines shipping. I ordered mine in the morning on the 20th and finally got mine shipped out yesterday. Others ordered on the 25th and already have theirs. I tried to call their customer service and every time there was a 30 person wait. Oh well atleast mine is finally in the mail. If I didn't love my 3G defender so much I would be very angry with otterbox.

I literally just got off the phone with Otterbox, and while I can't say anything for the randomness of their shipping order, I was told by a service rep that they've had weather-related shipping delays from their manufacturer, and are now quoting me 10-15 days for processing from the time of my order (mid-day July 21st)
