Yeah, I noticed they had changed their site to show 10 to 14 days to ship. I understand delays happen but the random order in which they are shipping cases is pretty irritating. When people that ordered just a couple days ago are getting processed and shipped before people that ordered a week or longer ago, something is not right. I put an email into them earlier today asking about the status of my order so we'll see how it goes.

With them having thousands of emails... I'd almost take bets on which you'll get first. A case or a reply

Just got an email saying they screwed up and due to demand and bad weather they are pushing their window to 14 days and offering a credit of 5 dollars to anyone who has already ordered. At first I wanted to cancel my order, but I think i will show some loyalty and wait it out a little longer.

anyone out there who has or had the ballistic case, how does it stack up in comparison? After finding out the new otterbox doesnt have membranes over the speakers or mic, i really dont have a reason to stick with it.

I'm waiting too. I ordered my Defender about a 1.5 week now, but they told me 7-10 days to ship. I should have ordered earlier. Oh well.

Anyone heard anything about the commuter case or impact? I'm thinking about getting a impact as a thinner case just as my normal DD case. I only want to use defender for my mountainbike and snowboarding and stuff. :D

Dear Valued Customer,

Due to an overwhelming demand from all of our customers (end users, carriers, distributors, resellers, etc.) interested in the Defender Series™ for iPhone® 4 as well unexpected weather delays in China and Alaska, OtterBox™ is experiencing longer than usual order processing. Additionally, technical difficulties at our warehouse last week caused shipments to be sent out of sequence. We are doing our very best to send out orders in a timely fashion and from this point forward all purchases will be shipped in the order they were received.

Until all existing orders in our system are fulfilled, we are not offering expedited shipping and purchases are averaging a 14 business day processing time from the time your order was placed. Once your order is shipped your credit card will be charged and you will receive an email with tracking information. As an apology for our error and delay, your order will receive $5 off per Defender Series case for iPhone 4 ordered, which will reflect on the charge you get when your order is shipped.

We value your business and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

Best Regards,
OtterBox

So me too. But hey, they admitted their mistake and are giving us $5 off. That's pretty nice of them. Everyone makes mistakes once in a while, and it sounds like some of this was out of their control.

I agree. I'm really happy with my ipad defender case. Its awesome. I hope my iphone case shows up soon. :)

They also have great CS too. Very nice. Most companies should do that... maybe powersupport should look at that. haha.

Really cant understand the delay ordered mine well over a week ago and it was said 5 to 7 days to ship and nothing now i get a email saying about the shipping stuff will be delayed and that they will give me 5 dollers off. Thats good and all but im still mad not worried about the money i want my phone to be protected. so with the delay being double the time i feel it should have been half off. I know at my job if you say a deadline and your off by alot we would have to make really good on it.

Here's an email I received from them just a little while ago (unprovoked):

WTF

First my free apple pixel skin won't get here for 3 months now this.

I need a case dammit.

I'm considering buying one for the meantime, but it just seems like a collasal waste of money considering the fact that I "qualify" for a free one, and I purchased a $50.

I ordered 15 seconds after the email hit my iphone, it pisses me off to no end that someone who ordered after me may have received theirs sooner. The email also implies to me that AT&T/Best Buy etc placed big wholesale orders, which bumped me who payed full retail to the back of the line.

I love OB cases and I will stick it out, but I am very unhappy with the delays, and sending me the email crying about the weather in China, and your order system is just antagonizing me.

This may be looked down upon by some, but most places have a 30 day return policy. As long as you keep the case in pristine condition, you can "borrow" different cases until your case gets there. I've done it twice so far, once with AT&T and once with best buy. As far as I'm concerned, if they'll give me my money back no questions asked then I've done nothing wrong.

I JUST MY OTTERBOX DEFENDER IN THE MAIL!

First impression: WOW this is a good looking case.

It was kind of complicated to take apart, but once I got it apart I put it together in about 15 seconds.

The screen protector has NO oil slick problems and looks really good, minus the weird effect screen protecters naturally do aha. And there is ZERO interference with screen sensitivity, it's quite astounding.

The feel of the silicone is so nice and it's VERY eye appealing and the phone feels A LOT better/safer in the hand :D

Overall, this is my favorite case I've ever bought for ANY product!

They ship out in the order of who bought. I don't know about you, but I haven't seen any OB Def. 4 cases at Best Buy OR AT&T and I was JUST at BOTH of those stores YESTERDAY. I think they're having genuine mix-ups and you should be grateful that they even bothered to admit there was a problem and let you know right away.

On the bright side, only $40 for a brand new OB Defender 4 case. ;)

Just an update...

While the built in screen protector works well, I did notice a slight rainbow effect while outside in some bright sunlight. Not a big deal by any stretch of the imagination, but just something I noticed that others may find useful.

Still extremely pleased with this case.

the only thing that pissed me off was getting the screen protecter COMPLETELY dust-free on the inside when installing it lol.

it is made out of touch active hard plastic (not like those flimsy flexible films. The best result is not to use any screen protector. it really fits my iphone4 like a glove. Really rugged looking to. The ratchet belt-clip fits with the case nicely. Out of 10 iphone cases i have bought. this one is the only one i liked. I'm still waiting for the Ballastics HD iphone case which might not be as well made as the otterbox defender, the more i look at the pictures on their website and the otterbox case in my hand. (the pictures on otterbox.com does not do this case justice)

what i dont like on this version of the defender is that the iphone sits higher on the belt clip compared to the defender on the 3g/3gs. which didnt hit your side of body as much

I e-mailed Otterbox and a rep informed me that they'll likely have color variations for the Defender in the next month or two.

Be ready to send the ballistic back, I got one and it lasted 2 hours on the I4 and less than 24 hours on my possession, the silicone seems cheap, and it does not fit tight on the case, I think they had a good idea, but they did fail at giving the final product a good finish, I was not too sold on the 2 tone plastic they used ether...

As for the otterbox, I like it for the most part, I think it is well made, must of the time I just keep the phone in my pocket since I think the belt clip is no too comfortable to wear, I did manage to fit the phone in the case while having the Invisible Shields on (Front and back) and I keep taking the phone out just to check it and make sure it is still on since it was very tight. I do have a lot of the "oil effect" but I think it might be due to the invisible shield, I think that eventually I might just remove the screen protector of the case that way I will have some protection on the phone when I'm not using the case...
