As a former iPhone 3G owner, I find the cognitive dissonance of many iPhone users astounding.

brb, installing emulators from the market, browsing my phone's filesystem, and best of all performing WIRELESS syncing....all without needing to root/jailbreak.

iPhone doesn't even have widgets.

oh yeah, since I switched to android I have freed myself from the shackles of iTunes.

You are on a APPLE forum. What do you expect? On other forums they will BAN people like yourself because you are not a owner of a Apple product and just dissing Apple products which by all means are great.

Remember, the iphone was the first PDA of it's kind and now everyone is copying it.

I always expect rational discourse. I don't care how shiny it is...

And Apple makes other products besides the iPhone. It is wrong of you to assume he doesn't have any Apple products.

Really? Such as?

As you said, this is an Apple forum. What makes you think he doesn't have a Mac, or still have his iPhone3G sitting in a drawer?

iOS is oval not square, you failed Geometry at school didn't you?

Seems like you're the one who failed Geometry.

Oval:

If your teacher ever told you that this

iphone_app_icon.png

is an oval, I'm afraid that he/she was wrong.

A more accurate term for iOS would be 'rounded square'.

And seriously? Squares are not ok, but rounded ones are?

Either way it stands. This is for a Apple iphone period. We don't give a crap what phone he has. We don't want to hear him diss the iphone on a Apple forum.

Here's what I have determined. As a nerd it's easy to look at all the features and specs that these Android phones are putting out and say "wow I want that, with all those specs and features it's gotta be better than the boring old iPhone!" but the truth is, it's not. The phones are better on paper but when it comes down to actually using the phone everyday it just doesn't work as well or feel as good to use like iPhone does. Apple has designed it as a pleasure to use on purpose. Android on the other hand is designed to pack in as many features as possible. That sums up this whole Android vs iPhone war in my opinion and I will be returning to iPhone at some point as soon as I can.

Windows Mobile is always highly anticipated, and extremely disappointing. (Yes, this is an opinion.)

I completely agree as I have owned many Android devices and iOS devices. I also maintain over 100 phones for work from Android, Palm, Windows, and iOS, the iphones never have issues while all the others except the Palm's are always having issues. Windows is the worse while Android is 2nd.

Since when was what one can say on this forum up to you? And how do you know that other iphone users don't want to see some constructive criticism?

And seriously? 'WE"? This forum's rules were not made by you and it certainly does not revolve around you.

Watch what you say as a mod already had to FIX your post as you broke the rules once already.

Being constructive is different than just dissing the iphone on every post you can which is what you HAVE been doing.

Have what? I can post my inventory of all our phones we have if you wish. It has serial #'s and everything if you don't believe me.

Stop capitalizing things you want to stress and use the bold and italics feature.

In the post you just quoted, what rule did I break?

And if you take a few minutes to read thru my posts, you'll find that I do admit some faults about android and the merits of iOS. Not once have I 'dissed' the iphone. If I hated it so much, why would I still own 2 iphone4s?

You on the other hand...

EDIT: You still haven't answered my question. What forum bans you if you dont own their product?

That's super! Seriously, though, I like many aspects of Android, but the bloatware / carrier installed crapware is a no go for me. How do you reconcile the "open" concept and 3rd party apps that are uninsatllable by the end user? Apps that run in the background, with no way to turn them off? Don't go on about Rooting... That is something someone shouldn't have to do to use a product in a reasonable manner. Seems open for the carriers, but very much closed for the end user.

As someone who is a former iPhone owner, and a returned Android phone user, I seriously question those who claim Android is so superior. In it's pure form, possibly. After verizon and sprint get ahold of it... It's like a Dell PC circa 2004.

It's not the owning product problem, it's the dissing of that product that gets you banned.

I am done here as I am tired of these childish type of arguments you wish to continue with.

I was at a white elephant party yesterday and my friend showed me his Samsung Captivate.

It did everything the iPhone could do, just as smooth, except maybe the Web browser text.

But Google Translator BLEW me away, you can speak into it and it will translate it into another language, with pronunciation. It even translated penicillin into Chinese.

The Navigation is much better than the iPhone, again you can just say an address and it will show you how to get there.

I still like my iPhone 4 more, but Android phones have really come a long way.

Here's a good comparison http://www.theiloop.com/iphone-4-vs-samsung-captivate-video-comparison/

I don't understand why people here who don't like the iPhone as much as the majority here, as this is an Apple rumor forum, have to diss the iPhone?

Seriously, why?

I for one agree with the OP, I think the iPhone 4 is superior to the rest of the other phones, the user experience and build quality of the iPhone 4 is totally superior, not to mention the awesome customer service Apple provides.

No examples?

And I don't think you understand what 'dissing' is. To diss something is to bash it without reason. For example, I would be 'dissing' the iPhone if I simply stated 'The iPhone sucks and android is infinitely better. Everyone who uses iPhones are retards'. Don't think I've said that, don't think anyone else on here did.

This coming from the guy who compares "copying" upon how a box looked, LOL!

stalker

Sometimes statements as ridiculous as 'omg there are boxes on android so they must have copied iOS!' stick in peoples' minds. Nothing to do with stalking.

Because apple makes products other than the iPhone?

And I don't think you understand what diss means. Nobody on this thread has dissed any product. Please read above definition.
