Which would obviously explain why there's not one single ad anywhere to be found in the Android OS
I had a few apps that I came across with advertisements on my EVO. So yes they do have advertisements on the phones.

The OS itself does not have a single advertisement on it. What developers do with their own apps is up to them. So you are wrong, and LTD is wrong, but that's nothing new.

Actually you were wrong. You said there was not one single AD on the Android phones. I corrected you as there are ad's, but it depends where you look. I wasn't wrong in telling you that.
I have to agree with the awesomeness of the iPhone. I just had the opportunity to try out the video recording feature when my band played a show last week. It captured the video in low light and the audio was nice enough to post a new video to our site. I haven't had a full video camera that has been able to handle both as well as my PHONE. It makes my decision feel even better!

I've posted this before but and it also fits well here. The only smartphone OS with advertising components baked into the OS is iOS with iAds. This was confirmed by Jobs himself.
You do know the difference between a third party application and an operating system don't you? None of the Google applications are a part of the Android source and are separate applications.

Given all the recent attention about Android from Google I/O, the new Android 2.2 Froyo and interesting ads from AdMob and Adsense, I thought it was worth mentioning the recent momentum.

Its amazing to think that back when Android started there were no ads on it beyond just search engine ads in the mobile browser. Now were going to have many types of rich ads formats in apps: expandable image ads, expandable video ads, click to call ads, and interactive ads in apps. These sound great, and Im also looking forward to the day when dynamic ads are shown in the mobile browser just as dynamically as theyll be shown in the apps.

All of the admob stuff you are posting above is provided via API's from Admob for application developers.
On another note, I don't understand the tears when it comes to advertising anyway as developers deserve a way to monetize their applications and advertising is one method for them to do that. If developers can earn from their applications then the whole development ecosystem will be healthy.

The best phone is the phone that you have right now (and using it to the extent of it's capabilities). I have an iphone and I will have it until it can perform whatever I wan't and do in a smart phone. Thank goodness to the iphone app developers, they truly make the phone remarkable in my opinion.
