Pre-authorization and reserving an iPhone are two separate things... if you reserve an iPhone 4 there will be one available for you until the date/time stated in the email.

Hey Guys. Just letting you all know I just got my confirmation e-mail from Apple just now. It states that my iPhone will be ready to pick up at 7 AM local time on June 24th. I had been trying since 8 AM on and off and finally got through at around 7:30 PM EST. Received the confirmation e-mail at 8:14 PM EST.
 
Alright just ordered mine from the Apple online store for shipping to my apartment, waiting to see what the confirmation email has to say. I really want it on the 24th but its not gonna kill me to wait a few extra days, now to figure out how to sign for it while I'm at work haha. Probably just have to go to UPS or wherever and sign for it and pick it up.
 
finally got 2 for me and my girl.. apple store seem to be able to click with att for now..

still showing arrive on 24th
 
They Let me order 5???

So i finally got thru and ordered blk 16g 40 min ago. i thought i would try upgrading again with same # since the site has been jacked all day and it let me do it again and again till i have 5 separate order #'s. No confirming emals yet but if 3 16g and 2 32g show up at my house on the 24th i will be a happy man...

Thanks for the update, I just ordered 2 about an hour ago and am waiting on my confirmation emails. I did save the confirmation from the site and it said for delivery on the 24th so I'm not too concerned...I'd feel better if I got the emails though! :cool:
 
...i think AT&T is now #1 on my list of companies that annoy me list.

Because of their ****** phone infrastructures AND their incompetence in actually preparing for a major launch, people are getting shafted...

Tell me why they are still in business? (and of course the same question can be asked about BP, Adobe... and the list goes on)

WOW, you need help. I know patience isn't so popular today but this isn't impatience...it's way worse.

Grow up and wait.
 
Nice to see the demand...however, how many of these purchases are:

1)by current customers upgrading from old iPhone to new?
2)by current customers upgrading from a non-iPhone to iPhone?
3)by brand new customers signing up and buying an iPhone?


I think #2 and #3 are really what Apple should care about. Heck, I would upgrade if I could but I have to wait till mid 2011...totally lame...but on the plus side, by mid 2011 there will be a newer iPhone with more bells and whistles and hopefully it will be on Verizon.

How do you know they aren't going to the store at 7am and in that case that means they'll have it before you do. Make sure you let them know how more superior and important they are compared to you.

after about 30 attempts i finally was able to purchase mine for delivery..dont give up if youre still stuck.

An iPhone is hardly a motionless piece of furniture. You might be stretching there.
 
RadioShack experience

After trying the Apple store to no avail, I attempted to pre-order my iPhone from RadioShack, thinking fewer people would go there. I was right. Only two of us showed up and I was first in line. Unfortunately their internal system was overloaded too. The manager tried placing my order over 200 times while I stood there! I finally just left my info. He called a couple of hours later to let me know it finally went through.
 
I have successfully placed two orders for lines that I have that already have iPhones attached to those lines, however when I try to order an iPhone 4 for a line of ours that does not currently have an iphone 4 it wont order. I never can get past selecting the data plan...anyone had this and a fix to it?

Just received my confirmation e-mail!

Placed my order for a 32 GB iPhone 4 thru the Apple Store today at 1:45 PM PT after trying off-and-on since 10 AM. Just received my confirmation e-mail from Apple and it shows I should be getting my phone on the 24th.:D
 
Oddly enough, an AT&T employee just showed up at my house confirming my order was processed. (He said at the store that he was going to call but must have forgot.) Kind of an odd occurrence.

He said that since I put my order in pretty early (around 11am EST) that it should come on the 24th, but that he was told by his manager that customers can expect to receive them anywhere from the 24th through the 28th.

He said that orders done directly in-store have the same or greater clout than ones done online, within AT&T at least, because we were inconvenienced by the long process of placing the orders in paper since the systems were down.


EDIT: My order status says it's "In Progress" and "Back-Ordered" so we'll see.
 
Went to the AT&T store today for my pre-order. Needed to have them adjust my early upgrade pricing to the $499 for the 32gb. This was around 11:30am this morning when the pre-authorization was put in. During that time, the stores entire sales system was offline and this was all done by writing down the information.

Just received this email at 8pm:



I've checked order status and can see that the quantity ordered has been put in and no backorder numbers are there. Makes me feel a little better. Now I need to get my wife's order straightened out. Ordered hers thru the Premier site and has the nice ATTENTION in the processing line.

Out of curiosity, what was your order number, mine seems an impossibly low (in the 200's, e.g. 290). I reserved around 2:00 central.
 
Mine just went through for a reservation. Here's hoping I get a confirmation e-mail and then they actually have one for me that day. Not looking forward to waiting in line but that's the only option I had on the Apple website.
