TAKE OUT YOUR SIM CARD AND THAN GO THREW WITH THE ACtivation process!!! I tried for hOurs trying to get mine to work. This is the only way you will get yours working!!

What if you, um, need to activate your sim card?

Can you still use your current AT&T phone in the meantime while the 4S is activating? Or will it lose service when you start the activation process of the 4S?

Most have been able to, some have reported that it got to some stage where it had deactivated them before hanging.

My iP4 is still working. I tried swapping sims and that didn't seem to affect it. I've been trying to activate the iP4S for an hour now and its not working :(

For AT&T...

1-866-895-1099... worked first time, took 30 seconds. Automated system.

No email from AT&T. On the phone AGAIN with AT&T... well, on hold waiting to speak to a rep.

Ok. Mine finally activated. No email from AT&T, but I did call their 800 number and had the update my IMEI and sim card number. It didn't work right away but did after about an hour. No way tell whether it was my call to them or the iPhone process we've all be going through.

Good luck on yours.

Thanks. On hold waiting to talk to second rep of the day (800-331-0500), now on hold 17+ minutes. Not sure what they can do, but hopefully something.

What number did you use for ATT?

Sorry just saw this, the regular customer service number, dont have it on hand, but i found it by googling contact att or something. Its an 800 number

This may be nothing, but I told my brother to turn his old phone off (his 3gs) while we are doing the activation process of the new phone. His situation was a little different since he was using a new sim card, so i dont know if that applies to everyone, but I remember being told in the past that while you are waiting for the line to transfer from one phone to another, always have the old phone off.

Also, the automated system told me to turn off his new phone for 5 minutes to wait for the activation to go through...

Radioshack couldn't activate mine for me so I left without it activated. Went to the ATT store and they did it for me in 5 minutes.

You are not going to believe this but I just got off the phone with At&T and they guy mentioned something about Apple's server or something because of Steve Jobs???? WTH? I just politely thanked him and hanged up....

Called AT&T and the stupid woman said that it was Apples fault. Complete crap but o well.

Wish I could talk to the service reps that actually did something for us.
