Dude, learn to read. The article specifically says that Android return rates are very high compared to a 2 percent total return rate of the iPhone4.

IT'S THE OTHER WAY AROUND!!

Now thanks for the entertainment, but I'm going to get back to watching The Sopranos now.

It's time anyway that this thread gets back on topic.

but i googled it with the phrase "iphone4 return rate high" therefore it was originally about the iphone4s high return rate, i must have clicked on the wrong link or it must have been changed recently.

no i googled it correctly i cannot help if the article was modified after it was posted

So you are contending that your argument is still valid despite conflicting information being evidenced in the source that you provided because it may have been modified after you posted it? It was truth before, but now that you've realized it says something that conflicts with your argument it is false?

All aboard the trollercoaster! :D

No I'm saying that when i googled "iphone4 return rates very high" that came up, i cannot help if it was changed or edited and the old article is what had come up.

So yeah no iPad 3 in 2011.

No iPad 3 this year

Why do people have a hope that the iPad 3 will come out this year when Steve Jobs made it clear that this is the year of the iPad 2. All of these rumor sites were spot on when it came to Lion being released...

hopefully not true, the only way i wont buy the ip5 is if it looks like an ip4. sorry even internals aren't worth the price to carry a phone that looks 2 years old.

an updated iPad 2 with a better screen for tech nerds or professionals would technically still be an iPad 2 ;) but i agree, that its hopefully unlikely

Some people are still claiming the only thing "new" was going to be the iPhone 4 but with upgraded components. The longer time goes on the less and less likely that is. If Apple was going to take that approach they could've had that ready in June (or even earlier) as that is a VERY simple tweak. The fact that it will be at least september before we see anything is an indication that there is new form factor/hardware in the works.

the issues isn't the hardware, its the software. it takes 10x the time or longer to prefect the software then it does the hardware. every iphone to date has been the same. they all have a multitouch display, some cpu & gpu, make calls (except at&t versions), camera, and have blu-tooth & networking. aside from the adding of 3g and gps they pretty much all have the same components. those components just get beefed up each new release. its the software that really makes everything run. look at everyones #1 want, multitasking. that was a software feature not hardware. anything that makes the iphone shine and gives people that warm fuzzy feeling is all software related. this is why they only need to release 1 hardware version a year, and numerous software revisions. being that ios 5 is their pinnacle f-you to android and jailbreakers release, without question they will be releasing a iphone 5 with an a5 cpu to show off their work. but outside that name, cpu and chassis, don't expect much more from the new iphone

Just get one and enjoy it. They're just rumors.

In short, why on earth would Apple release a new iPad when they barely just caught up with demand. If there's one thing for certain Apple will ride the iPad 2 wave till demand weens and there is a reason for 3 to come out. We've seen this previously with the iPod every year since its inception, the rumors are always ahead of schedule of an actual release.

I don't get why people keep taking that photo of Steve Jobs saying "2011: Year of the iPad 2" as some kind of promise *not* to release an update. And I don't know why people keep thinking it's so unthinkable. They released a Macbook Air on 10/20/2010. Then they came out with an update - 7/20/2011 - 9 months later. It's not inconceivable that they could come out with an update to the iPad just 7 months later. If they did it, I think the only change they would do would be to give it a Retina Display and bump up the price $200. There's plenty of people who will pay a hefty premium for an iPad 2 with Retina Display (including me). Plus, it wouldn't make the people who already bought an iPad 2 feel burned and they could continue to sell the vanilla iPad 2 quite well. The only question is what it would do to the battery life and whether the A5 can handle it. IF that's what the update is. :)

Also, another point - sometimes sales ween in anticipation of a new model, not necessarily because demand for the older product actually went down.

iPhone 5, yes; cheap iPhone, no; iPad 3, no.

A new iPhone this year makes an awful lot of sense given the antenna problems the iPhone 4 has had. It strikes as sensible that Apple will want to quietly "forget" the iPhone 4. So, that would mean a complete redesign and calling it the iPhone 5.

A cheap iPhone? Yes, possibly, but Apple has never made 'cheap-n-cheerful' products, has it? But even if it did, for the reasons above basing it on the iPhone 4 would not make sense. An internally redesigned iPhone 3x, perhaps, with its cheaper, lower res screen? My guess is don't hold your breath waiting for a cheap iPhone of any description; a price drop on the iPhone 5 seems more likely.

The only reason for releasing an iPad 3 this year would be if Apple has seriously over-estimated the competition and thought others would be snapping at its heels in the run-up to Christmas. But since the iPad 2 stills reigns supreme (by a huge margin), I'd hold the iPad 3 back until sometime in 2012.

Having said that, I'm notoriously bad at this Apple prediction game!

I really don't see why they would release an iPad 3 so early when the sales for the iPad 2 are still so high, just doesn't make sense.

It doesn't make sense for a lot of people.

Steve Jobs made it clear that this is the year of the iPad 2.

Good damn. iPad 1 was still sold in January, doesn't that make SJ a liar?! "Year of the iPad 2" doesn't mean that nothing else will be sold or happen in the entire year.

sorry even internals aren't worth the price to carry a phone that looks 2 years old.

Last year iPhone 4 was a tremendious and brave, futuristic new design. A year later it looks 2 years old? Hmm.

On the iPhone, I believe iPhone is being discontinued. Jobs will get on stage just to say that it has been too embarassing that they can't keep up with the demand, so they decided to quit developing the iPhone. iPhone 4 and 3GS will stay in production until they no longer sell.

Me too! It's the only thing I wish the iPad 2 had, because it was darn impressive on my iPod Touch, which I sold to help pay for the Pad.

Looking at Apple history, it just seems like a low percentage bet. I remember going through this with the iPod ages ago, when they were coming out with video. The rumors kept coming and for that matter Apple was probably ready to roll it out anytime, but waited for demand to be ready.

Yes, it came up because it contains all those words. Did you just click "I'm Feeling Lucky" and copy/paste the link without reading it? Because when I googled that, all I got was articles about android phones having a high return rate.

Seriously, do you not understand how a search engine works?

And seriously, I was so amazed by this comment that I actually logged in for the first time in YEARS to comment!
