yeah good enoughSo when pre-orders start I assume delivery time will be 1-2 weeks like the other countries. I'm hoping I'll receive it on the 11th (unlikely) or close to it.
looks like our friend mrsir2009 is tired of MR![]()
Hmm, I think I will ned to spend some more time comparing with the iPhone 4. I've heard that the NZ 4S won't have siri, and while the camera does sound nice, I do have a great digital camera so it's not a huge need. I wonder if there will be some decent deals on the 4 around mid december
Siri is a worldwide feature and will be available on all iPhone 4S' in all countries. Not sure how you made the assumption it won't be available in NZ. That said its use currently outside the US is limited as location based features are not available outside the US until next year.
That is alright I am indian but I lived here all my life and people actually say I sound britishIt'll be available but no NZ accent option. Only US, UK, or AUS. So people with thick accents won't be able to use Siri.

I read it in one of the tech sections of an online paper I think. I forget exactly where, but they said that Siri would be unavailable for NZ, they didn't go into detail on whether they meant not suited for our accent, not supported in NZ, or actually not available, the wording used was definitely 'not available'. It's not a far leap to wonder if it would actually simply not exist on the OS here, just like they create different language versions of an OS
I mean we have plenty of other Apple things that are not available to NZ, no tv shows on iTunes, certain music tracks that they deem will not be commercially viable for our market etc. If they can exclude us from that, they can exclude us from certain apps as well
It just went live around 10 mins ago. Ordered 2 iPhone 4S!
I think I'm one of the first people in NZ to pre-order it because I was refreshing the pages like mad.

Oh and delivery dates is 15th-28th of October
I finally managed to get one ordered as well. Apple's site is very slow and kept giving an error while trying to check out, took about 5 tries to finally get it.
Did you order just now? It went up like an hour ago and I ordered within 5 minutes. What's the model you bought? Apparently it's harder to order the 16GB?
I ordered about 30-45 minutes ago. White 16GB, so that might explain it. I'm getting errors most times trying to check my order list now as well.
I'm guessing the Siri program itself will be installed on the iPhone 4S. It's just that there's no "New Zealand" english option. Just US, UK, or AUS. The iPhone 4S units sold in the 2nd phase release countries had the Siri app installed.
A slight word of advise to you guys, if it will let you (took me a few attempts), log into your Apple Store account and see how many orders you have. It would seem I currently have 6 iPhones on order! Seems each time I got to the final page and got "Oops!" back as a response it had actually placed the order. Time to start cancelling them now or I'll be selling them on street corners lol
Found this on Geekzone and figured that it was worth mentioning here:
Yay... I'll be getting it round' ChristmasCan't wait!
Oh I realize this playing with the cracked one is hot enoughWarning: Minecraft will make your MacBook Pro hot.
I see you've ended up going for a 4SMy apple order status says delivers 16- 23 which is a relief. I ordered two, one for me one for daughter. She's moving to australia on the 28th to work at Ayers rock for 6 - 12 months and I wanted her to have some form of contact with us. She has an android phone but only uses it for the actual phone part because the apps are crap and it crashes. She reckons it is useless for browsing the net too.
I did look into duty free etc, but appears you can't get an iPhone as duty free because it is over the threshold. So there were no savings to be made there, and getting it in Nz means we can load all her music and games on before she goes. I also ordered one of these cases http://www.ivyskin.com/iphone-4-case/iphone4-wranglercase.html. We may or may not be getting a bit paranoid about dust and sand.. I would just hate for her iPhone to end up fuxed because of the environment over there.

Language Support and Availability
Siri works exclusively on iPhone 4S. Siri understands and can speak the following languages:
English (United States, United Kingdom, Australia)
French (France)
German (Germany)
In 2012, Siri will support additional languages, including Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Italian, and Spanish.
Can I use Siri in any of these languages in other countries?
Yes. Siri can be enabled in any country, and you can choose to speak to it in English, French, or German. However, Siri is designed to recognize the specific accents and dialects of the supported countries listed above. Since every language has its own accents and dialects, the accuracy rate will be higher for native speakers.
