Coming directly from android its quite a difference (first iphone).

The build quality is quite remarkable, this is be most quality feeling phone I've ever had.

The sync thing still confuses the hell out of me as I never know if i choose to sync if its going to wipe my phone. So basically I just do everything manually which i feel is probably limiting the usefulness of my phone as I also cannot then utilize wireless sync.

I desperately miss the "back" button. I've come to rely on it much more than i had anticipated. I'm already a bit annoyed at having to start over at the home screen all the time.

It's so fast... like wow... fast. The presentation of everything is pretty impressive, though that is an iOS thing i suppose. The reception is much better than my D-Inc.

Glad you like the phone. If you are frustrated feeling you have to "start over," you may not know that you can double-click the home button to access your apps in order of recent usage (also drag that back and forth to access other apps and settings).

i'm not trying to be all whatever. but i had a 4.. got a new 4s today.. people keep telling me their's is super fast, or lightening fast.. maybe i got a lemon, dunno but my OLD one is way faster..

go to a photo album with hundreds of photos in it and try scrolling to the bottom. Now it's like butta, where before it would skip and hesitate when scrolling through tons of pics.

Try using camera with HDR, both images save in a split second, with 4 it'd exhibit slight delay. Take a photo with flash, should see that flash is much faster.

Overall it's really quite a bit faster than the 4.

How do I set up a geo-fenced reminder?

Well, you can ask Siri to "remind me to do x when I leave home" or similarly, "when I get to work" or something like that. Otherwise, you can go to the reminders app and add a new reminder, press enter, select the reminder, and then select "remind me" and then "at a location." Obviously Siri is a bit simpler method to use!

If your phone really is slower than your 4 was, you have some sort of problem (I mean, your new phone does). You might want to consider taking it in to an Apple Store if you have that option. My 4S is blazing and noticeably faster and smoother than my 4 was, and my 4 wasn't a slouch.

I like the UK Siri dude. BUT, I sent a "practicing email" to my daughter, and he spelled it practising (yes, I know that is how they spell it in the UK). So, in order for people not to continually point out my spelling "errors" I'll have to switch back to US female Siri.

Pardon my stupidity, this is my first iPhone. Do you have to set it up somewhere so it knows where "home" and "work" are? Where/how would I do that? Thanks!

It's definitely louder and I noticed I just say "iPod" and it starts playing.

I have an AT&T iP4 running IOS 5 and I have the enable 3G option in Settings > General > Network. Is that what you're referring to?

It's so odd that it is gone for some people.

Yes, it must be a 4s thing then. Thanks!

But, it doesn't explain the fact that the toggle even on the AT&T phone is still not there.

Exactly! Obviously, AT&T decided to axe the feature, but I'll miss it.

I've noticed too that there is no option to allow user to turn 3G on / off. Im kind of dissapointed because I am a heavy user and only turns on the 3G network when needed since it drains the battery.

Does the 4S have better battery life? or is there someway to turn on the edge network?

Ok this is borderline disastrous for me, and if I'd known it I would NOT have upgraded. I listen to streaming radio a lot at work on a college campus the WiFi and 3g ALWAYS bog down between 9am-3pm approx while there is heavy student use. I could only get a reliable stream on Edge. Plus yes, 3g kills the battery and from one day's use it doesn't look like the battery has much more staying power. Why would they do this? I'd assume it's because eventually Edge will be dead but at least in my area the other options are not going to work for unfortunates like me. I haven't tried it yet, but if it sucks I may have to take it back, glad I haven't sold my 4.

Can other users chime in and confirm? Why is turning 3G OFF no longer possible?

Yeah, this is crazy. There are some areas where I go such as work where I dont get 3G signal so this whole not having Edge will be a pain in the rear. I really hope they do something to bring it back. I haven't sold my 3GS either and it seems temptingto go back especially since iMessage works on Edge on the Iphone 3GS and it doesnt when you turn off the Cellular Data (3G) on the 4S. I dont think I would have upgraded if I had known this too.

If you read from the beginning, then you'll completely understand. But, I'll reiterate, there isn't an option to turn off 3G and roll to a 2G/Edge connection. It's not a deal breaker for me, but AT&T eighty-sixed the feature/option.

However, you can turn off data service to the network and rely upon your wifi connection, which might be a new feature. I don't have an iPhone 3GS or 4, so I cannot say whether this feature is exclusive to the 4s. Hope this helps. :D

thanks for responding. Yes i do know about that... I'm just going to have to get used to liking that. I'm more concerned with when I'm in a certain app and it takes me to another screen to complete something it doesnt always let me go back to where i was beforehand. Probably doesn't make sense :) I'll figure out these nuances eventually i suppose

Go to Settings -> General -> Siri -> My Info and select yourself from your contacts. Make sure that you have an entry for your work and home addresses in your contact.

i cant believe how much faster it is. I have an ipad 2 and I feel like the 4s is faster even tho i know that the ipad 2 has the same processor clocked higher I dont really know why it feels so fast. I came from an iPhone 4 on 5.0 and its way faster then that.
